What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle? Some say it just depends on who is picking up the instrument . . . others might say a violin has strings while a fiddle has "strangs." But if you're looking to play a hoedown, a breakdown, a sweet and heartfelt waltz, or an old-timey reel, then you're looking for some FIDDLE lessons . . . and I am just the person to deliver! I've been a performing bluegrass fiddler since 2003 and have helped many students discover the joys and satisfaction of fiddling. See my profile under "fiddle" for more information.
About Julie
I've been performing as a fiddler in bluegrass bands since 2003, and have absolutely loved my own journey as a musician! A lifelong musician, I started on viola at age 9 and played in school orchestra through high school and on into college, even as I earned my degree in secondary English Education.

Viola is the undersung hero of the orchestra, and I love to help violists learn this beautiful instrument! Though much of the technique of the instrument is the same or very similar to the violin, violists enjoy a great repertoire of solo pieces and high demand in ensembles, which I can help you discover for yourself. (Please see my violin profile for more information on experience and lesson style)

One thing I had always feared having to play some day was the opening solo to Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. A former teacher had been unable to help me with it. So, when a band I was playing with scheduled the piece and told me to get ready to play the solo, I was traumatized and contacted Mr. Rappaport for help. He worked with me and not only got me playing the opening glissando, but helped me to have a better understanding of the other jazzy spots in the piece. So now I can say I’ve performed that piece about 20 times, and the fear is gone! Thanks, Mr. Rappaport!
Regardless of your level of playing, I think you will find Mr. Rappaport to be an outstanding teacher!"
