I've been studying trumpet for 15 years, and I'm eager to work with students of all ages. I will give students a firm foundation in trumpet fundamentals, while also focusing on what the student would like to learn. I specialize in jazz and contemporary music, though I am also trained in classical music.

About Dustin

Hi! My name is Dustin. I've been teaching private lessons since 2010 and have loved helping my students develop a talent and love for music. I went to West Virginia Wesleyan College and earned a degree in Music in 2012. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I feel like he really understands my struggles and how to help me. Plus, he offered to transpose some pieces that I want to play on trumpet.

He's a great instructor!

I earned my B.A. in music from Hood College and have studied with Elaine Bonazzi in New York and Ruth Drucker in Baltimore. I sang opera professionally in my twenties and have been teaching private voice lessons for fifteen years. Many of my students have gone on to music conservatories or universities for vocal performance (classical and musical theater), but if you are just looking to have fun singing that is great, too!

*note: for voice lessons I only teach female students

ONLINE VOICE LESSONS: I offer VOICE LESSONS ONLY online as piano does require a physical presence at the keyboard with the student. If you are interested in online voice lessons, there are some differences from a live lesson to consider:

During live lessons, I accompany my students on the piano for their songs. During online lessons, due to lag time and my need to clearly hear you during lessons in order to give solid feedback, you will need to have an audio source separate from whatever device you are

I have been taking lessons from Michael for about 9 months, and it has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. He is an excellent guitar player, and instructor. He is patient, thorough, and very willing to pace his instruction with the ability of the student. I am in my late 50's and he is just the person I had hoped for in a teacher. I consider going to lesson not a chore, but a pleasure.

"Jeff Stetson can take you anywhere you want to be as a musician

There are musicians and there are technicians.
I took weekly lessons from Jeff for 5 years and still go to him often for advice on song composition.
What I gained from Jeff, besides a true understanding of guitar playing fundamentals, is an understanding of how music "works"--the harmony behind it. From Jeff's instruction, I understand the theory of music--how scales are formed, how chords are built from these scales, and how to read and write all of it.
As a heavy rock fan, Jeff also helped me train my ear to hear the intricacies of jazz, which has taken my songwriting--both electric and acoustic--to a whole new level.
I strongly recommend Jeff Stetson to anyone who truly wants to learn how to play any stringed instrument, especially guitar, at any level. He will teach you how and/ or why depending on an individual's goals."

5 Reasons My Guitar Might Be My Best Friend

Music can be a very rewarding experience - and a personal one, at that. Most musicians spend a LOT of time with their instrument, often baring their souls in the form of melodies and lyrics. If you treat your guitar like part of the family - or your best friend - you'll relate to what Gresham, OR guitar teacher Ed P. has to say here...   Did you know that some of the old blues players named their guitars?  Some of them were even rumored to sleep with their guitars.  I’m not saying tha …
