I have been playing piano since the age of six. Originally classically trained, I made a change to learning Jazz after hearing it on the radio one night while still in high school.

I began my teaching career in 2007, providing private piano instruction to beginners at a small, privately owned music school in Laurel, Maryland.

After the school closed it's doors in the Fall of 2011, I continued working with many of the students privately. It is these efforts I continue to this day.

Having the opportunity to work 1 on 1 with students and see their progression and development on a week to week basis is a truly, rewarding experience that I feel fortunate to be a part of.

Ian is a wonderful piano instructor. My 6 year old has been with Ian for some time now and I must say his patience is exceptional. He teaches in ways that my son can easily remember and makes the lesson fun. My son always looks forward to his piano lessons and he has learnt a lot in 2 months. I have had some experience with piano instructors but Ian is exceptional. I highly recommend him as an instructor to other children

My method is to teach in a way where the student can develop their own style while learning the basics of theory and technique. Depending on the skill level the student is currently comfortable with will determine where we will start. I like to make sure my students understand the first position of the instrument before moving on. We will learn this position by playing songs and developing a unique playing style for the student. From there we will move up the instrument learning about chord progressions and how they are arranged on the instrument.

About Dylan

I am a passionate multi instrumentalist who has played in many musical groups throughout my 29 years. I grew up in a musical house hold where all styles of music were played. I play the Guitar, banjo, piano, bass, and drums. I have a degree in music and a real passion for teaching musicians of all

"Have seen and amazing improvement in my voice

I’ve been taking voice lessons with Eric for a few weeks now and I’ve seen and amazing improvement in my voice, and I’ve been getting a great understanding of my voice and how to use it properly. Eric is an amazing teacher who not only knows all about singing techniques and how to control your voice. He also understands that there are different singing styles and he can help you get singing the way you want to. I wanted a teacher who could teach me how to sing in the style of old school rock n’ roll. Eric not only has been teaching me how to singing like the classic bands I love but has also been teaching me singing techniques that can help me sing any type of music."

"I've been learning from Andrew for a few months now, and I honestly couldn't be happier. He's been very patient and It's very obvious that he's not just doing it for the money, but that he genuinely cares. I've been going through things in my Personal life and he's been very helpful and supportive when he didn't have to be.

His musical knowledge is very impressive. He's taught me to sing everything from musicals to heavy metal.

I'm also learning to play the piano from Andrew. He has great methods. He makes it fun, which helps a lot. He always asks for input and never forces me to do anything I'm not comfortable with.

All in all, Andrew is a great teacher, but an even better guy. I'm entirely satisfied and have gained a friend as well. I couldn't be happier, and would recommend him to anyone, regardless of the style of music they want to learn."

How to Sing Like Beyonce

Beyonce has been the center of pop culture attention lately, following her Inauguration Day performance, and love-it-or-hate-it Super Bowl spectacle. The singer is often praised for her vocal range and powerful sound - but perhaps her most well-known stylistic specialty is her use of melisma - moving between several notes in succession to create a dramatic, "bluesy" effect. The technique is attributed to gospel and jazz music, but has become more mainstream as artists like the late Whitney Houst …
