Ryan S.

Philadelphia, PA

About Ryan

Born in raised on the south side of Chicago Illinois, I grew up listening to A LOT of great Chicago blues guitarists. After receiving my first acoustic guitar I quickly gravitated towards learning to play blues and blues rock guitar at the age of 13. As my hunger for knowledge grew, I began learning and studying other genres of music through private lessons and lesson videos in the styles of Progressive Rock, Shred, Funk, Fusion and Jazz. Music study was a way for me to find structure, discipline, self worth and expression not confined to a 40+hr work life. Through that I grew as a person and
a musician. My sole reason for teaching is to help others find that passion and those qualities within themselves to live a beautiful and fulfilling life through his/her instrument.”

Ryan's a great teacher. I'd recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to play. He's helped me fine tune the chords on my first song. Plus he can melt faces with his guitar solos.

I don't normally write reviews, but felt compelled to after taking piano lessons with Eric for a few months. I'm an adult-learner, and was previously considering giving up piano due to a lack of progress. Eric's focused teaching style and enthusiasm for the instrument has re-ignited my interest in piano, while I can see (hear) tangible improvement in my playing with each lesson.

I'd have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Eric to students of all levels.

I have written a review before but now after many months, feel compelled to write again. Erik is wonderful. He is so patient, talented, and dependable. My son who was not overly eager to continue piano looks forward to his lessons with Erik and has improved a lot. Recommend without any hesitation at all.

Erik is wonderful! My 8 year old son has taken several lessons with Erik. Erik is great with him - patient, encouraging and you can tell he has planned the lesson realizing the importance of building on what was learned last. We are happy to have found such a great teacher and would highly recommend him for children or adults.

About Tanesha

Hello Everyone!

My First Lesson is free

If you are under the age of 18, please have a parent or guardian book the lessons for you or at least notify them before you book lessons with me.

Hello, My name is Tanesha. I have been playing guitar for a little over 7 years now. I am a self taught guitarist. Guitars have always been a passion of mine. I was always drawn to learn more on guitars and one day decided to teach myself. I wanted to teach myself to play so that I can develop my own teaching style, as well as my own methods of teaching. When you are an absolute beginner and y
ou look to learn from other people, their way of teaching can be a little challenging. But with my teaching style it is more broken down. I understand the struggles and difficulties that comes with learning guitar, that's; why I am here to break it down and teach as clearly as possible. I am a very caring person, I love to help others and love to see them improve daily. My main goal is for all of my students to learn and benefit from my teaching.

Oaklyn, NJ

About Allison

Learn piano from a nationally touring recording artist, songwriter and composer with eleven years teaching experience. My approach to teaching piano is holistic, incorporating music theory, ear training, healthy physical technique, improvisation and sight reading. I have over eleven years experience teaching students of all ages, and I enjoy working with each student individually to build on their strengths and help them develop in the areas they find more challenging.

An EMMY-nominated film composer, I also teach songwriting for students interested in composition. Lessons are tailored to e
ach student, incorporating a diverse mix of classical and contemporary repertoire and a practice plan that addresses each student's needs and musical goals.

Drawing upon my extensive background as a performer in music and theater, I encourage students to take creative risks, to be expressive, and above all, to play with joy! All students have the opportunity to share their progress with family and friends during fun, low-stress, semi-annual recitals. (Participation is optional but highly encouraged!)

Teaching Materials:
I use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures books as a foundation, but also incorporate other music, including classical, pop and theatre music, depending upon student interest and what I feel will best help my students to stretch and grow! Students are also welcome to request pieces they would like to learn; I will do my best to find or create an arrangement that's appropriate to your current skill level.

Allison taught my daughter for 4 years. We found her to be patient and nurturing, and she was able to keep my daughter motivated, which is not always easy, since my daughter quickly becomes frustrated when things don't come to her right away. Allison is great with kids and has a knack for keeping lessons fun, even while she's challenging students to be their best. The recitals were a real highlight for us. They gave our daughter a real goal to work for, and as we got to know the other families over the years, it was fun to watch their kids improving too.

Allison taught my son from the ages of 6-12 and my daughter from the ages of 5-8. She was great with the kids--always patient and friendly--and they both were very attached to her. As well, she taught them both how to play piano and music theory, which I thought was great. While she followed a set of piano books, she also was always willing to find them sheet music versions of songs they liked at a level they could play, which really helped to keep their interest high. Allison is a terrific teacher and both my children loved learning with her.

Daniel E.

Philadelphia, PA

About Daniel

I am a graduate of Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance as well as the Royal Academy of Music in London where I attained my BM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy and my MMus in Piano Performance, respectively. I am an active performer as well as a keen and engaging teacher, so I'm always thinking of new ways to get students thinking about being performing artists, whether they're well into their studies or just starting out. I'm interested in the student's perspective - what kind(s) of music do you enjoy? How can we work out an approach that will be as productive as possible for
you? I'm a firm believer that every student is unique and has something special of their own to offer. The piano is a wonderful vehicle for expression, and my job is to help you find your voice.
