Every student is different. I've found that students have vastly different, ages, tastes, goals, and want to learn for different reasons. They also learn and develop in different ways and at different pa
I consider myself a "groove" player and in my musical world, my focus is on rhythm section work. To get there you must first learn several skills. Technique, Timing, Ear Training, and Theory are what I consider the 4 main "food groups" in the "diet" of any good musician. My job is to steer each individual student down the path that gets them there at their pace AND to make it fun. After all people don't choose to learn because they have too, they choose to learn because they want to. Why? Because it's cool and it's fun!
I like to dedicate a portion of the lesson to having fun with the instrument. A student may be interested in a certain band or bass player and wants to learn their song. I will ask them to bring me the song (I may already know it) and we'll learn it together. I like to play musical, or instrument related games to help the student learn in an non-stressful, happy and fun way. I think it makes a difference.

I can provide a practice amp, metronome and music stand for lessons only. I also can provide on site repairs of their instrument.
*** Specialties ***

Had a really nice first lesson with Al. He is a good guy and a we had fun jamming out on a couple jazz standards and talking about scales. He has good knowledge of the instrument and i was happy to see that he played a 6string like myself. I enjoyed the lesson.

About Pete
In 2011, I successfully obtained my master's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. The master's program was an intense submersion in music performance that shaped me into the musician that I am today. I was lucky to study with Don Glanden, Mike Kennedy, and Kevin Hanson.
I am also well versed in computer recording software and DAWs. I teach students how to use software programs such as Logic and Reason as well as notation software like Sibelius and Finale. With some basic training in these programs, I can teach a student how to effectively record and produce professional quality recordings so that a student can write, record, and produce their own music.

Because I've studied with some legendary teachers who have taught some legendary students (like John Mayer), I'm able to pass on to my students the same knowledge that these incredible teachers passed on to me. I guarantee that I will be unlike any guitar teacher that you've had before. Along with instrumental training, I offer extensive lessons in music theory and ear training. My family is full of educators and I've experienced the teacher-student relationship from a young age. I am fully committed to developing lesson plans based on the route that a student wants to take, whether it's just learning the basics and playing along to your favorite songs or engaging in serious study and preparing for college auditions. I am available to teach at any location within the Philadelphia area.
*** Stylistic Focus ***
I specialize in jazz and blues. At Berklee, I was able to take instrumental labs that spent an entire semester focusing on the playing style of certain guitarists. I've taken the Wes Montgomery lab, the Pat Martino lab, the Jimi Hendrix lab, the John Scofield lab, and the Stevie Ray Vaughan lab.

I am an incredibly patient teacher with only one goal in mind: help the student progress steadily! For this reason, every students lessons will be different. However, a typical lesson will aim to improve on 4 basic categories... Guitar technique and dexterity, Music Theory / Improvisation, Learning students favorite Songs, and Personal projects. Personal projects can range from writing songs, to recording songs, or to learning the basics of other instruments.
As a lifetime musician I have a very good idea of what works for most students. However, my goal is to be YOUR teacher, and I will focus on whatever it is that interests you the most!

If you are looking for guitar lessons then Bryan is your guy. I have been taking lessons from him for 6 months now and had no experience prior. I have learned a lot from him and not just about playing a guitar but music in general. I highly recommend Bryan.
