With every lesson, my goal is to create a space where students are allowed to be as creative as they want to be. I see the benefit of a student learning not just chords and scales, but also understanding how to put it all together to make music! Whether your ultimate goal is playing your favorite songs at home or performing live -- I can help get you there. In addition, I like to include in my lesson plan tips on performance, songwriting, and recording if the student is interested. Shoot me a message and let's get started! :)

If you are a teacher, customer service rep, or any other profession where suddenly you are talking all day every day, you need vocal training. I can help you learn to use your voice in a way that will protect it from damage and pain, even though you are talking (or yelling) all day.
If you want to start a podcast or Youtube channel but you hate your voice, never fear! Vocal training can help you maximize your vocal resonance and change the way you use your voice to make it healthier and more like the voice you want to have.
During my degree, I was a clinical assistant in a trans voice clinic. It was like nails on a chalkboard watching cis people try to give trans people voice training to change their perceived vocal gender. So I used my degree and my years of ...

Flamenco guitar lessons with Raphael are unique because he grew up, and studied in Spain. And knows all the secrets that you can only learn by living, and working with some of the best Flamenco artists of today. He can teach you how to accompany singing, and how to accompany dancers. As well as teaching full solo pieces. He has been playing guitar for over 25 years, and has toured the world. As well as playing in the opening ceremonies in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympics. He has worked artists such as El Farruquito, El Toromb, and El Manzanita. Just to mention a few. Raphael also speaks Spanish, German, and English. And is a very patient teacher, and gives great attention to detail.
Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am a Flamenco guitarist. I've been playing for over 25 years, and lived in Spain for over 10 years. I have had the pleasure of traveling the world playing guitar and working with some of the best Flamenco artists from Spain, as well as here in the U.S. I am a full ti
1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.
My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!
Don't miss the opportunity to work with him!

You don't have to be a virtuoso guitarist to touch people's hearts with your music! Guitar teacher Samuel B. shares a few of his favorite great-but-not-that-great famous guitar players... Towards the end of Johnny Cash's autobiography, you'll find the following paragraph: As to my musical future, my prospects look good. I can whack on a guitar as incompetently as I could a year ago, probably more so. I can sing just as well, or as badly, as I ever could. And I've got more songs trying …
