Steve is an excellent teacher! I always look forward to my classes. I am a student in high school, and he fully understands my need to balance my school work with piano, and he makes sure that I am able to comfortably commit to both aspects of my life. With every lesson, my goal is to create a space where students are allowed to be as creative as they want to be. I see the benefit of a student learning not just chords and scales, but also understanding how to put it all together to make music! Whether your ultimate goal is playing your favorite songs at home or performing live -- I can help get you there. In addition, I like to include in my lesson plan tips on performance, songwriting, and recording if the student is interested. Shoot me a message and let's get started! :)

About Kianna

Chicago-based guitarist and producer Kianna recounts spending every Sunday sitting in the back seat of her parent’s car on the way to church — headphones on — listening to classic rock songs, imagining that she could play every guitar solo that came on. If you are a teacher, customer service rep, or any other profession where suddenly you are talking all day every day, you need vocal training. I can help you learn to use your voice in a way that will protect it from damage and pain, even though you are talking (or yelling) all day.

If you want to start a podcast or Youtube channel but you hate your voice, never fear! Vocal training can help you maximize your vocal resonance and change the way you use your voice to make it healthier and more like the voice you want to have.

During my degree, I was a clinical assistant in a trans voice clinic. It was like nails on a chalkboard watching cis people try to give trans people voice training to change their perceived vocal gender. So I used my degree and my years of ...

He has worked artists such as El Farruquito, El Toromb, and El Manzanita. Just to mention a few. Raphael also speaks Spanish, German, and English. And is a very patient teacher, and gives great attention to detail.

I have been taking Flamenco Guitar lessons with Raphael since I moved to New York. It has been a wonderful experience! There are a few things about him that set him apart from other teachers i have worked with:
1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.

My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!

Don't miss the opportunity to work with him!

"Great first lesson! Eric spent a lot of time listening to my voice and understanding my background in order to make the most of our time and determine what our next lessons should cover. We started with vocal exercises that illustrated/practiced basic concepts that were enlightening to an inexperienced singer like myself, so I feel like I left the lesson already having learned a lot! Though I was nervous, he was always very reassuring and kept the lesson light and fun to ease my nerves. Very much looking forward to my next lesson!"

"My son Cooper, now 13, began lessons with Brandon 2 1/2 years ago. He had never held a set of drumsticks but was interested in playing. Brandons ‘ease in’ make-it-fun approach is a complete winning combination for the student. Brandons ability to also read the student and know when to challenge them has been a key success factor for my son.

Who I have now is a 13 year old boy who practices 2 hours a day minimum, a passion for all things drum related, growing proficiency in theory and varying styles of music and most importantly a young confident musician who regularly plays in front of dozens if not hundreds of people.

I couldn’t have hand picked a better instructor for my kid...."

10 Extremely Influential Guitarists Who Were Not Technically Great

You don't have to be a virtuoso guitarist to touch people's hearts with your music! Guitar teacher Samuel B. shares a few of his favorite great-but-not-that-great famous guitar players... Towards the end of Johnny Cash's autobiography, you'll find the following paragraph: As to my musical future, my prospects look good. I can whack on a guitar as incompetently as I could a year ago, probably more so. I can sing just as well, or as badly, as I ever could. And I've got more songs trying …
