Book NowI have a personal approach to each student. I believe that everyone is different so the job of the instructor is to figure out what works for a particular student and how to present it best for faster, better understanding. I also believe that a good teacher is one that not only teaches the violin but plays it actively, professionally.

I am an orchestral clarinetist, K-12 music teacher and home school parent offering Christian clarinet lessons to students ages 10 and older. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA, a Master of Arts in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and I have studied with teachers who graduated from Julliard and Manhattan School of Music. I have also been influenced by the teaching style and signature sound of clarinetist David Weber, as well as Russian and Slavic traditions of teaching, all of which emphasize the art of clarinet playing - the combination of proper technique with fluent, beautiful musicality. I have a passion to help my students enjoy making music for the glory of God and offer lessons which are fun and inspiring!

My goal as a voice teacher is to create a positive environment in my studio where my students can reach all of the goals that they set out to achieve. It is important for my students to feel a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where they can make mistakes, take risks, and ask questions. The art of singing is a whole-body experience and it is essential for students to train and practice like an athlete would train for a high-level event. I encourage my students to do some sort of physical activity that has an emphasis on the abdominal muscles (i.e. yoga, pilates, tai chi, weight routine), so that they feel what it is like to use the whole body as well as strengthen their core muscles. This directly relates to an appoggio based breath support, which is the technique I utilize in my own singing and in my studio. I teach my students to use their entire body when they sing. I believe that students should practice physicality with gestures, so they can get connected to their whole body and ...

I am a self-taught musician with 15 years of experience playing electric and acoustic guitar. My lessons begin by learning what inspires you as a musician, and working to take you where you want to go! Learning some of your favorite songs is often a great place to start. By learning a variety of music, you'll quickly begin to notice patterns & understand basic theory on what notes work together well. From there, you can apply that knowledge to improvisation, as well as songs you may want to write!
From those first few lessons, there's a million different ways we can explore the guitar together. With my lessons, I offer recording time in my home studio where you can learn how to write, record, produce, and mix fully arranged songs!
Reach out to say hi, and let me know what some of your immediate goals and questions are!
Specialties: Indie, Rock, Pop, Alternative, Psychedelic, Folk, Acoustic.
Open to students of all ages.

Why TakeLessons?
Hear From TakeLessons Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I've recently took a block of 20 lessons with Kristen and I can say without a doubt that her skill at conveying her knowledge is unsurpassed. There was never a session that I came away from that I didn't learn something. I could describe my issues every week and she would offer several suggestions on overcoming it. Because of this, she made it possible for me to reach new heights in my skill with my instrument, but also a deeper understanding of music structure and theory. I highly recommend her if you are looking for that one teacher to help lead you, for any age."

I was sort of nervous to get back into singing but Eric was completely relaxed and motivational. His techniques really push your range and his home studio is great... definitely recommend!"

Need to memorize lyrics--quickly? Take a look at these helpful tips from Ann Arbor, MI voice teacher Elaina R... For many people, memorizing words is easier if the words are set to music–that is why songs are often used in education (there is even a song that lists all 50 states!). That being said, trying to memorize a song on a deadline is not fun. Not many people know how to practice singing lyrics effectively, and singers often need to learn multiple songs on short notice. …
