Scott M.

Nazareth, PA

About Scott

Hi! I'm Scott. I perform with a one-man band setup I created which has a modified guitar and foot pedals to control a drum set while singing. I have a recording studio at home, and have performed with bands as a singer, guitarist, saxophonist, bassist, percussionist, and as a sound engineer. I've written, performed and recorded my own album which made it to the 2nd round of the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, and was a voting member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Grammy Committee and NARAS (National Association or the Recording Arts and Sciences.) I started piano lessons from age 5 and just
kept picking up more instruments and gear as I got older and never stopped learning or enjoying it

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching Guitars, Basses, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Music Production, Recording, and Live Sound for 13 years.

I can teach you note-reading, tabs, ear training, music theory, composition, improvisation in just about any style of music.

Working with people writing songs is something I enjoy thoroughly; I can help you write and record your own songs. A computer and internet access are preferred to take full advantage of the technology for learning and producing music.

Knowledgeable in Instrument repair, set-up, and maintenance, I can help you fix it, and how to spot a good instrument.

Patient and experienced, with a broad knowledge of music in most areas, I can give you hundreds of good references from previous students I've taught over the last 13years

*** Studio Equipment ***

Guitars, basses, percussion and drum sets, a piano, saxophones, hand drums, a 20-track digital recording studio with monitors that are equalized to the room's acoustics for accurate listening and mixing and an assortment of microphones, amps, mic stands, cables, and connectors and the best part ... I know how to use them all together!

Nicholas U.

Allentown, PA

About Nicholas

I am a second generation music teacher for piano and violin. I have been teaching for over 15 years as well as playing both instruments for about 30 years. I have an Associates in Music. Making lessons both fun and educational is what make my students successful in their instruments. My lessons are custom made to how the student learns, not cookie-cut. We also do bi-annual recitals in October and April to showcase the students' accomplishments.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are both fun and educational at the same time. I compromise with my students by having us each pick a piece
to play on top of the usual learning pieces. My students play anything from Katy Perry to 80s music and rock ballads and in between. I use John Thompson and Fingerpower as well as a notespeller for piano and String Essentials for violin. Many of my students can play with both hands after six months. We do recitals each year to showcase the past year's achievements in their pieces.

*** Travel Equipment ***
For either instrument I pick up all books and supplies ahead of the lesson. I have my own violin and music stand that I use to assist in teaching.

*** Specialties ***
John Thompson, Suzuki, popular music, Gospel, New Age, and anything in between

Chris M.

Germansville, PA

About Chris

Hi! I am a recent graduate of Marywood University where I graduated with a degree in Music Therapy. I am currently an music therapy intern at BOCES and have significant current/past experience with children, adults and elderly who have disabilities.

I started taking snare drum lessons when I was 9 years old. Soon, I was taking drumset lessons and participating in my high school music program. Graduating from the music program at Marywood University gave me significant knowledge in the field of percussion/drum-set. Classically trained, I was taught over the course of four years on Mari
mba, Timpani, Snare drum and Drumset.

I have also served as a worship leader at Parker Hill Community Church in Scranton, PA where I played drumset to Christian Rock songs. This experience gave me the opportunity to lead and play with a rock band.

My previous experience was mostly with kids/young adults ranging from ages 8-22 but am open to other ages as well! If you are interested in either learning to learn some Rock-and-Roll beats on the drumset or learn how to play Solo Marimba please feel free to contact me!

Man, I've never felt so inspired to release all of my passion and intensity into the drum. He truly awakened the potential that I didn't even see in myself. Highly recommend him, not only because of his impeccable technique, but his drive to watch his students succeed.

Peter Matthew Bauer of The Walkmen Talks Living Room Shows and Liberation!
Growing up on indie rock, The Walkmen were among my favorite bands in high school and college. Though they are now on "extreme hiatus", members of the band continue to make great music that I can love as an adult too. The band's bassist Peter Matthew Bauer embarked on a solo career with his 2014 album Liberation!, an album that pairs spiritual themes and literary references with catchy rock hooks and psychedelic vibes. I got the chance to talk with Bauer about his musical background, his s

Can Anyone Learn to Sing? Five Steps to Instantly Improve
Can anyone learn to sing? You could be forgiven for thinking “no” is the answer to that question, especially if you’ve seen episodes of TV talent shows where singer after singer mumbles in a tuneless monotone, or wails off key with confidence, but little ability. Closer to home, you may have sung in a choir, or even attempted singing lessons, but became frustrated as you found that your voice didn’t match up to your expectations. However much you might want to sing, you might have made the decis
