During our lessons, we will use effective warm-ups and breathing techniques, work through a song (or part of a song) or choose a piece that will highlight the best parts of your voice, focus on any difficult techniques that you are struggling with, and work through dynamics, phrasing, and character to make your performance shine!
I hope you will join me in a lesson and see how wonderful this musical art can be!

Guitar performance from Musician’s Institute
I have developed a standardized, systematic approach to guitar instruction based on the belt system used by traditional martial arts. As students progress through the ranks, they are awarded different color “belts”. Beginners are white belts. The next level is yellow belt. Orange is next followed by red, purple, blue, and finally a black belt! I use pre existing text books so that the learning material is organized and easily accessible. I have had great success with my methods and my system makes the learning a lot more fun. I can also customize lessons for intermediate to advanced students who need to focus on certain key areas and can also prepare students for college entrance auditions. Group classes are available in special subject such as theory, note reading and advanced harmonic and melodic concepts. I am an energetic and enthusiastic instructor who insures that students enjoy their learning experience while being able to gauge their progress toward their personal musical ...
Most of what I do as an instructor stems from my frustration as a student. I am convinced that the way I was taught to play music on the guitar is NOT the best way to learn it. I have spent a great deal of time developing my own methodology and feel as though I have a much better way to convey infor

My granddaughters took voice, guitar, and piano from Missy from the age of third grade through high school. I selected Missy due to her experience: classically trained on piano and voice during her formative years, studied at Berklee College of Music, Boston, toured the country as a solo singer/songwriter, and played world-famous and iconic venues, including the late CBGBs in New York City and the Bluebird in Nashville. You can find her on iTunes, and one of her students, Paul Thomas Mitchell (a.k.a. Tommy Mitchell) was on the hit television show, America's Got Talent.
When my granddaughters were young, Missy worked tirelessly to create lesson plans for my granddaughters in order to keep them interested in music. For example, if my younger granddaughter (3rd grade at the time) was unmotivated to practice in her workbooks at home, Missy would spend part of a lesson just talking with my granddaughter about what music she was currently enjoying. Then Missy would incorporate that music into her lesson plan. As a result, my granddaughter became once again motivated to practice. Missy makes lessons fun while still teaching technique.
I never imagined all that my granddaughters would learn and enjoy while studying under Missy. And Missy's work with her students does not end in her music studio. My granddaughters participated in summer band camps and performed at small local venues, all organized by Missy.
Although my granddaughters no longer take lessons from Missy, because they live out of town and are in college, we all consider her a dear friend. She genuinely cares about her students and keeps in touch long after lessons end."
Ahmad is relaxed and kind and that goes along way too."

Listen, I love me a good, “gritty” rasp as much as the next person but, there is a time and a place. (Lookin’ at you, Chris Stapleton.) Yes, I said it, a vocal coach who likes to hear the enemy of healthy singing, or raspiness, every once in a while. It’s a great way to evoke emotion not just in your song but to the listener’s ear. They hear that rasp and affiliate it with passion, grit, pain, and so on! However, there is a right way and wrong way to approach raspy singing. Whe …
