For my first lesson, I found Catherine to be personable, encouraging, and highly skilled. She listened to my goals, assessed my present ability (I had tried to teach myself piano. I failed.) and worked through some exercises with me to improve my skills. I found the lesson challenging but not overwhelming. I'm looking forward to my next lesson with her.

so much fun!

This teacher has a great time with her students as they learn keyboards, piano, theory, singing and basic skills on percussion and woodwind instruments. She can show beginning guitarists the chords and strums, too. We perform with the teacher at different places for youth group events, recitals, even musical theater shows. I hope I keep learning music the rest of my life.

About Alden

I'm a baritone saxophonist and a die-hard jazz enthusiast living in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. I graduated from Bard College with a BA in music, specifically jazz performance and contemporary composition. In addition to saxophone, I also play clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, and piano (I'm also convinced that I can play the drums, but my friends disagree).
Since moving to Brooklyn, I've entrenched myself in the New York music scene, playing mainly jazz, funk and pop, as well as composing my own music on the side.

In addition to performing, I teach regularly, giving in-home lessons to my students throughout the NYC area. I teach all levels of saxophone, as well as beginner to intermediate piano, and beginner flute and clarinet. I offer a rich curriculum with my own set of teaching materials such as, goal calendars, practice logs, and be

fore-and-after recordings.
If you are thinking of booking lessons, don't hesitate to contact me via Take Lessons. That way I can ensure that I have space in my studio and that you will get the most out of your experience with me. Can't wait to work with you!

My son, Justin, started taking lessons with Alden about a year and a half ago, and absolutely loved it! Justin has always loved music, and I think that lessons with Alden have taken this up a notch. It's so great to hear Justin's progress and for him to hear it too! Thanks Alden!

Alden is a wonderful young man! Very professional and always prepared, he keeps lessons interesting and fun for my daughter Chanda, who was just a beginner last year. Now she’s playing all kinds of songs and filling our home with music!

If I were to recommend a saxophone teacher to anyone, it would 100% be Alden! My son has been taking lessons with Alden for about 6 months now and I can notice great strides being made in both his playing and overall confidence. Alden's encouraging nature coupled with his love and knowledge of his instrument and music in general creates an incredibly nourishing learning environment for a student. If you are looking for a new saxophone teacher for yourself or your child, you have found the one!

About Kwame

Hello, my name is Kwame. I have been a musician for over twenty years. I started out in music when I was in grade school and have continued my musical journey throughout my adulthood. I have five years of experience teaching a wide range of age groups. Adjacent to being a musician, I am also a singer and songwriter. I have been involved with many of local and semi-professional bands in the surrounding area and perform from time to time as a solo artist or with a group. My mission as a musical teacher is to preserve the art of making music and pass it down as it was taught to me. I feel music is a very necessary element that makes the world go round!

I was very pleased with my lessons. I learned a lot and Kwame was very patient and helpful. I like the progression of the lessons and feel like at this rate I will be where I want to be vocally in no time at all.

Kwame is a great instructor!! He is knowledgeable about the craft he teaches and is great at explaining things in a comprehensible manner. My daughter is young, and his teaching method provided her with the skills and confidence to learn you how play. She went from not liking to play as much to not being able to stay away from a piano.

About John

I am currently pursuing a Jazz Performance degree at Florida State University. However trombone is not how I fell in love with music. I started taking classical guitar lessons at age seven and successfully continued through high school, becoming part of the all state guitar ensembles. I started on trombone at age 11. Through jazz, funk, blues and improvisation I fell in love with the sound and techniques I could implement on a brass horn. I continued playing both instruments in a funk band and still gig regularly on both.

Jodi is the best! She really knows her stuff. She is very patient and explains concepts well. Took my piano playing to another level. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who is interested in learning piano.

I took my first music lesson at age 67. I hate learning how to do things; I am easily frustrated. Jodi made me feel relaxed and secure from the first meeting. I enjoy both lessons and practice. She makes herself available for questions in between my weekly lessons and has even come to me to correct a problem with a string.
For me, she's the best imaginable teacher.

"My daughter loves Kait she is having so much fun and loves to go to her lessons. She is amazing."

"Adam is the best guitar teacher I have ever had. I tried learning guitar with a few other teachers but never really got the hang of it and didn't see much
improvement. In just a couple months Adam has taught me so much from playing different chord shapes to different strumming patterns and techniques. I can genuinely feel a difference in my playing and have seen great improvement. Adam also takes the time to explain the songs he teaches and the ideas and motifs behind them. His methods really do work no matter what experience level you are. His knowledge and skills on the guitar (both electric and acoustic) are amazing. He's passionate about playing guitar which is what makes him such a great teacher. If you are looking to start playing or looking to improve upon your skills Adam is the guy for you!"

"Perfect first session. Michael adapted to Rory's deep understanding of music theory but total lack of knowledge of the bass. He was thoughtful, patient, a
nd adaptive introducing the bass and providing practice suggestions to Rory. I recommend Michael in the highest terms as an instructor for beginners and knowing his vast education and experience in the bass I must assume this travels though the entire range of students - beginner to advanced. We look forward to the next lesson."
