Singing can be lots of fun, but the study of voice can seem obscure and even mystical to the uninformed. Some pieces of the puzzle are completely beyond our conscious control (i.e. the larynx), some are accessed indirectly (i.e. the breath), and others are readily available and right in front of us, but we don't think to target these (i.e. our stance). My lessons link student goals with positive outcomes by developing understanding and application of healthy vocal habits, production, and presentation of repertoire that fits and flatters the voice.

About Matt

I am a professional singer who has proficiencies in piano, organ, choral directing, musical analysis, and ear training/playing by ear. I currently teach both high school and college students.

Very friendly and knowledgeable of his subjects. He is a total professional.

Just starting lessons with Matt, but he seems very to have great knowledge about how to teach students to grow in their vocal skills. He is very enthusiastic and positive, but honest in his assessment of skills which is important to vocalists who truly WANT to improve their skills. The initial lesson experiences have been really beneficial. Looking forward to continuing lessons with Matt!

I like to craft a lesson plan that revolves around the interest of the student. If you like country but not funk, we'll focus heavy on country and not do any funk. If you want to focus on theory, we will. If you don't want to learn "hot crossed buns" we won't. Let me know the music you like and what you want to accomplish and we can go from there!

About Ryan

Hello! My name is Ryan and I play guitar/sing/write/record with local alternative rock/jam band, Lunar Ticks. I also am a guitarist with the all improvised cover band, Fate Nite. I also book shows, produce a comedy show, started a podcast, write for a local music publication, have spoken at schools

Hi, my name is Trevor. I've been playing music for 12 years and have been teaching for 6. I studied guitar and composition at the USC Thornton school of music, and have taught with School of Rock and the 4/4 school of music. I think that music can be a lifelong passion and my principal goal in lessons is instilling a sense of love and curiosity for the art. Different students are excited by very different things, and I always try to balance teaching technique with learning songs and compositions that the student loves. I'm really excited to be able to share everything I've learned along my musical career!

About Trevor

Sylivan is a great teacher with great personality. He was there to help me not only when I struggled with music and guitar but also when I felt down. I asked him why he cared so much and he told me a healthy mind is most important which helps in music learning =) Sylivan is also patient; even sometimes I can't stand myself but he was there to help me to learn lol He has passion in teaching and you can see it once he's in action.

"Before Neil, my 9-yr old son had taken "group" lessons for a year that were unstructured and did little to expand my son's interest in playing (thankfully these were with friends so he stuck with it).

Having studied music very seriously, I helped him a little but knew that a real guitar teacher is what he needed. Neil is just what I was looking for! He has a very laid back "attitude" but he's laser focused on keeping things moving, keeping things light, and being totally encouraging. He also is very open to teaching rock and jazz and I can tell he just wants to teach a student whatever style/music type that will keep the student engaged. After every class my son has been satisfied and excited with what he's learning (and I stay and listen and get a kick out of it too). We drive quite a ways to get to his place, but it has been totally worth it. Thanks Neil! You RAWK!!"
