Good habits and an excellent attitude make great cellists. It doesn't hurt to love music too. I love music and I love to share my passion with my students.

Having a teacher who is an experienced performer is an important quality in a teacher. I am a professional classical musician currently working as a freelance cellist in the Chicago area. I play with Chicago Philharmonic, the Northbrook Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, among others. Before coming to Chicago I played for 13 seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

I have taught privately for over 10 years including 2 years in Paris. My teaching is a reflection of my teacher, Phillippe Muller. I studied with Msr. Muller while studying at the Paris Conservatory. Msr. Muller is currently a Professor of Cello at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

About Wei

Even though I have been teaching and performing on the cello for most of my life, it's not all there is to who I am. I am a chef (almost--12 weeks to go), a mom, a wife. I have a cute little Tibetan Terrier that loves visitors. My husband and I love hiking in beautiful places. Studying with m

I have been teaching saxophone lessons to students of all abilities for five years, and I have been playing the saxophone for thirteen years. I teach both classical and jazz, and I cater my lesson plans to the specific needs, goals, and learning styles of every student. I have studied with Taimur Sullivan and Timothy McAllister during my undergraduate years at the Bienen School of Music. I recently represented Illinois in the MTNA Young Artist Competition and was one of 25 young saxophonists in North America to be selected for the semifinals of their Collegiate Solo Competition. I am able to teach instrument fundamentals, repertoire, sight reading, music theory, ear training, basics of improvisation, and much more. I look forward to working with you!

About Aidan

Aidan is a classical saxophonist and music educator. He has performed in venues across the United States as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble member. In only his second year of undergraduate study, he was named the Winner of the 2015 Illinois Young Artist Woodwind Performance Co

"Mr. Nader is an excellent instructor who always puts his students first. He customizes his lessons in accordance to each individual and patiently works with them so that they may achieve their optimum potential.

More than just a passive teacher of the violin, Mr. Nader dedicates his time and energy as a full time instructor of violin, cello, and music theory. Furthermore, Mr. Nader exhibits a level of knowledge, intellect, understanding, and culture rarely seen in the world today. When one walks into his music room, one will be struck with awe at not only the amount of books in Mr. Nader's library collection, but also the wide variety of subjects ranging from Music, Music History, Biographies, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, and many more. However, do not think that these books are just for display. Quite the contrary, one short conversation with Mr. Nader will show that he is well versed in all these subjects; a modern incarnation of the Renaissance polymath. Building off of his broad knowledge base, Mr. Nader not only teaches one how to play an instrument, he also teaches one how to cultivate oneself in Music and the culture from which it originates.

With a passion for Music and a yearn to pass on higher culture to the avid learner, Mr. Nader is the best instructor for all those who wish to learn Music along with its connection to the history, society, and culture from which it springs."

"My 11 year old daughter has been working with Jennifer for a little over one year. Isabela, not only is learning to control her voice but how to read the music for the cues on how to sing the song (tempo, inflection, etc). Jennifer's structure of working on one technical piece and one piece that the student is interested in keeps my daughter learning and happy to attend lessons. Jennifer is also extremely patient with my daughter, who is a curious child and likes to drift her attention. We look forward to working with Jennifer for along time."

"WORTH EVERY CENT! YOU WON'T FIND BETTER

Eric Jayke is well above and beyond what I hoped to get from takelessons.com. I was originally going to take one or two lessons of "singing" because I had never done any singing in front of anyone to break out of the shyness. Now I am taking lessons whenever I have the time. I have learned music theory from him on guitar and I even sing and play songs all the time now in front of people. I am currently working on my own songs and recording with some extremely talented musicians that would have never wanted to play with me without learning what I have so far from Eric. I look forward to our lessons every time! They are the highlight of my weeks! I 100% highly recommend him to anyone out there with a passion for music. Do yourself a favor and book one with him. You'll see."

"Very funny, super friendly, & great teacher

Eric is an awesome teacher with a ton of knowledge and lots of patients. He's super flexible when it comes to scheduling, and is always well prepared for the day's lesson. His ability to explain and break down complex material into layman's terms has been crucial to my understanding of music theory. We cover mostly rock, blues, & metal (in my favor), and I can honestly say his lessons has amplified my progression in speed, technicality, & overall confidence in playing. He'll always exceed the alloted time to ensure you leave with full understanding of the day's lesson, but never ask for anything extra for it. Besides being an amazing guitar player and an incredible composer, Eric is a genuine guy who really enjoys seeing his students progress. I highly recommend!"

"Whether the yearning of a person to play the piano be as great as a grand passion or as small as a mild interest sparked from within, Howard Richman’s acumen in his piano teaching is comprehensive, ever informative, and the best of all – he makes it forever fascinating to learn.
What is singular in Howard’s approach to teaching the piano is that he incorporates his understanding of life itself into every aspect in how to play the instrument. By this it is remarkable how Howard applies his understanding of a person’s physiology to the most effective extent in order to achieve maximum technique, while always retaining and building on the nature of the player’s individual character/personality. Howard employs logic, common sense, very clear exercises in technique that even include the nature of gravity as in the physical use of the hands, wrists, fingers when playing the piano. Howard makes the learning of any aspect of playing the piano a wondrous journey of discovery and accomplishment. I cannot recommend him more."

I have had about a dozen lessons so far with James, starting out as a complete beginner, with knowledge of only a few chords. In this short time, I have learned a great deal of theory, practice strategy, playing full songs, and even singing along with a few in time. James has been very hospitable and patient, and I recommend him to anyone who loves the guitar, regardless of skill!"

8 Essential Piano Chords Every Pianist Needs to Know

Once you've memorized the notes on the piano, it's time to put them together to create piano chords! Here, Augustine, FL piano teacher Heather L. reviews the eight chords to master first...    Except for most minimalist or avant-garde of styles, every musical genre is based on chords. From Mozart's piano concertos to the Beatles' hits, chords are foundational. Memorizing them is essential to songwriting, reading new music, and understanding the theory beyond the basics of piano.
