I was very pleased with my lessons. I learned a lot and Kwame was very patient and helpful. I like the progression of the lessons and feel like at this rate I will be where I want to be vocally in no time at all.

Kwame is a great instructor!! He is knowledgeable about the craft he teaches and is great at explaining things in a comprehensible manner. My daughter is young, and his teaching method provided her with the skills and confidence to learn you how play. She went from not liking to play as much to not being able to stay away from a piano.

I teach music lessons starting with and building upon basic techniques-including proper hand position, reading music, counting rhythms, maintaining a steady beat, and for wind instruments-proper breathing technique, embouchure, etc. I think it is important to establish these foundations and build upon them to keep music frustration-free and joyful. I enjoy playing along with and modeling the playing of my instrument so that students can hear and strive toward producing a good sound.

About Jackie

Jackie received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Ithaca College and Master of Arts degree in Music & Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I teach private and group lever harp lessons for both children and adults. No previous musical training is required. I have lever harps for rent to students. I teach classical, Celtic, folk, early, therapy and religious music, and am familiar with the Suzuki methods as well. All levels of beginning and intermediate students are welcome! I teach based on your goals and plans, and aim to let you enjoy the beauty of playing the harp.

About Briana

My name is Briana and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2018 and playing the harp since I was in high school. I love helping my students learn and love the harp. I currently perform and live in the Augusta area and study under internationally known harpist Josh Layn

I'm a beginning harper. Briana is making it really easy, but not simple, to understand the folk harp (this is a good thing!). She gives me exercises to practice, one or two songs at a time to work on and then I go home and rinse, lather, repeat. We review the next week and go over what I need to work on.

Since some of our lessons are happening during the COVID pandemic, and we're both isolating in our homes, I can say a word about her video lessons - She is ready to teach, on time, her camera and mic pick up everything I need to hear.

I really appreciate her time and effort!

I focus on building personalized lesson plans that focus on the needs and goals of each unique student. I use a comprehensive approach to teaching which includes songs, theory, technique, improvisation, and composition. This method ensures that my students are not only learning to play guitar, but to make music.

I provide my students with everything they need to succeed. Not only do I provide the student with what to practice, but also how to practice it, and just as importantly why it is important to their learning. When following all instruction given in the lessons, my students progress rapidly, on a week to week basis, and others on a day to day basis.

"Are you kidding me??
Who is still trying to figure out how great Phil Circle is at what he does?
He's well known for a reason: he's the best.

His approach to voice (with me, at least) is to address the entire body as part of your instrument. By making me aware of everything from my posture to keeping my jaw loose, he has drastically improved my range and control!!

He's an amazing guitar player & songwriter too and I often run into fellow musicians that have studied with him for those things also, but I (for now) only have experience with him for voice lessons. He has me sing through exercises with guitar that are hugely helpful- singing octaves, matching note and timbre, etc.
It's a vocal workout! But it gets results and he really makes it a ton of fun!!"

"I started playing guitar at age 10 but had let it go over the past couple decades. Eager to re-learn the instrument, I recently started taking lessons with Jonah Rosenthal and he's fantastic. Exactly the kind of teacher I was looking for - thorough, creative, encouraging, and most important - patient. I can't recommend him highly enough, for someone just starting out on the guitar or a lapsed player like me."
