About Michael
Expressing yourself is the ultimate goal of music and my job is to help you get your point across!

Like any musician, music is my life.
I love to soak it in any way I can! Whether it be listening to records, jamming with my friends or watching all the live concert footage of Stevie Ray Vaughan I can get my hands on.

I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor’s of Art in Music with a concentration on guitar performance. Throughout my undergraduate studies I performed in various ensembles within the college’s curriculum. Currently, my solo project gives me the opportunity to continue to grow through writing and performing my own original pieces. Throughout my career I have had the honor of performing with renowned songwriters Todd Rundgren and Charlie Sexton as well as being mentored by jazz drummer Frank Donaldson of
The Ramsey Lewis Quartet.

*** Lesson Details ***

Studying at the college level taught me a lot about what not to do as a teacher. The material is already difficult enough, so why would I be difficult with you?

I strive to be more of a mentor and friend rather than taskmaster. However, I do require structure and commitment to getting better. My curriculum will revolve around you and your needs with added material that I feel will help you succeed.

A typical lesson plan includes:

 physical technique

 chord and scale knowledge,

 soloing concepts

 and tying all of these ideas together by learning a song in a genre you love!

All of these concepts culminate in the discovery of your own personal voice!

*** Studio Equipment ***
My teaching studio is just steps away from the Belmont Blue Line stop! Our lessons will be held in a private practice space in my home. The large room has multiple amps and guitars, so there is no need to bring an instrument for lessons if you don't want to! (But, you do need an instrument to practice with outside of our lessons!)

I went through one lesson and Marti has demonstrated that she has both knowledge and skill, I already have shown major improvements from just 30 minutes of working with her. I cannot give a high enough recommendation that would do justice to her. She is absolutely phenomenal if you ever decide to take singing lessons I strongly encourage you take them with Marti.

I have MANY set backs and fears when it comes to singing and have been scorned by teachers before. This is the first time in 7 years that I got the courage to go back to singing lessons and I was smiling the whole time! In just one lesson, Marti managed to give me back confidence that I thought was long gone. She knows her stuff and knows how to help you use the instrument that you have. I love her!

I have learned so much from my lessons with Marti! She creates a safe and it encouraging environment that allows me to develop my vocal abilities.
When I think about where I was when I began to where I am now, I'm amazed at the progress I've made under her instruction. Not only in my technique but also in my confidence.
I come out of my lessons feeling good about myself. And even when I get discouraged she's always there to build me up and help me believe that I can accomplish what I set my mind to.
It has been a great experience!

I have seen and heard Jacquline perform in various locations. It did not matter if she was in my living room or on stage in a theatre, her performance was always professional and transforming. She is able to relate to the audience and available for questions afterwards. As a teacher she is able to do the same. She relates at the level that you need and helps you overcome your weak points. I would highly recommend Jacqueline to instruct from beginner to advanced levels.

About Jill
I am a harpist, pianist, arranger, composer, performer and lover of music. With over 10 years of experience teaching both piano and harp lessons. Although I graduated from Brigham Young University in Idaho with a Bachelors in visual communication, I have continued to stretch my skills as musician and teacher.

I perform frequently and love sharing my passion for the harp and piano through teaching so others can also experience having these beautiful instruments in their lives.

I teach piano and harp students of all different ages and experience levels, although I have an especially great love for teaching children and youth. I studied classical piano for over 12 years, and classic harp for over 11 years. A huge part of my music education was focused on theory and as a result I have a great love of having a strong foundation in musica
l theory.

I strive to help my students develop a love music that can last throughout their entire life while still learning proper technique and theory. I strive to help students set individual goals and then structure lessons to help these students reach each of their dreams.

I really enjoy composing and arranging so something that I especially love to do is help students play music and songs that they want to by arranging music specifically to their individual levels and skills. I've found that this not only helps motivate students but also adds an extra fun aspect to our lessons.

My passion is sharing my love of music with those around me. I would love the chance to meet you and hopefully share this passion with you!

Jill is an amazing harp teacher! Because she is so positive, energetic and supportive, she has made learning to play the harp a wonderful experience for my daughters. She is able motivate my girls to practice and they look forward to their lessons each week. I asked my girls what their favorite things are about Jill. My 14-year-old said, “It is really obvious that she loves to play the harp. This makes me love to play as well because of her enthusiasm and example. She is really encouraging when I get frustrated.” My 12-year-old said, “She helps me find my weaknesses and thinks of ways to strengthen them. She also makes learning the harp a lot of fun.” We would highly recommend Jill as a music teacher!

Jen is the best teacher ever! She encouraged me to develop my own style, and helped me to push my voice in new directions. Working on improv was so much fun! I loved how she would work with me on a range of different styles and listened to the pace I wanted to take. Her voice is chillingly beautiful, and she clearly has the technical and music theory knowledge to help any level of student. She was and is such an inspiration! She encouraged me to connect with new musicians and now I’m starting my own band :)

Jennifer was my son's piano teacher for over 2 years. She started working with my son when he was 7 and I could have not asked for a better teacher for him. She interacted with him exceptionally well and my son simply adored her. Jennifer has a natural talent in teaching especially due to seeing how much my son has excelled with his piano skills over the years. He was well prepared and rocked all of his recitals due to Jennifer's dedication to him. She was always on time and showed up when expected. I would highly recommend Jennifer as a teacher to all. She is super friendly and has a welcoming demeanor about her. I would definitely rate her one of the best instructors ever!
