Among the many annoyances in the life of a musician are those times when we come across one of those fortunate few who can listen to a song on the radio and then sit down and play it … while you’re standing there behind them with your two hands inches from their throat, seething in envy.
What a gift, to have ears such as theirs! For those with “perfect pitch” it truly is a blessing which they were, quite literally, born with. But for most of us, playing by ear is simply a skill, and, like all skills, it can be learned. And it should. Your caliber and utility as a player increase dramatically when you can pick up tunes on the spot. And you will save a fortune on all the sheet music that you’ll no longer need to buy!
I hold a B.M. from Berklee College of Music, and have over thirty years' experience teaching students -- from beginner to pro -- how to learn both melodies and/or chord progressions by ear. Try if for yourself and discover the many benefits of having a killer pair of ears!

I have just started guitar lessons with Stan and the lessons are going very well. It's exciting to be learning note reading which is something I have always wanted to do. Stan is thorough and clear in his instructions and I look forward to each lesson. I feel lucky to have Stan as my teacher.

Stan is very knowledgeable about singing, and he teaches more than just voice lessons. It seems like he looks for the best in you as an artist, and try to take it to another level. I'm a new student of his, and it's been great so far. Looking forward to the weekly lessons.

Stan is obviously both knowledgeable and talented but he is also a very good teacher and will tailor your lessons not only to your ability but also to your own personal goals

Danilo is a really great drum teacher. Challenging, but also meets you at what ever level you're at. When limbs don't know how to rally together for a new thing, he's a very good cheerleader until it comes together or helps make it make sense to break through that wall. Enjoys good music too. Super recommend.

Great teacher. Fills me with confidence. Also it is awesome and inspiring to hear him play.

Danilo is great! He adjusts each weeks lesson to adapt to my needs. Patient, easy going, and very knowledgeable about what I need to work on and giving me exercises to work on between lessons. Highly recommend!

It is my goal to help students tell their own personal stories by developing creative and deep connections to the songs that they may write and/or sing ! We will focus on lyric writing, interpretation, and can get as detailed into the theoretical aspects of composing as the student may like. Songwriting gives me a sense of purpose, expression, and safety- I hope to help students cultivate what their specific voice is and what songwriting means to them. There is no one way to write or compose !

With her patient understanding and calm presence, Crystal Rose is a very engaging and positive music teacher. What originally started out as guitar lessons has grown into a deeper exploration of music through voice lessons and songwriting. I fully credit this expansion of both my guitar playing technique and my musical creativity to her skills as a teacher. After each lesson I feel inspired and excited to keep practicing what I have learned as it carries me over into my week. I am so happy to have found her and highly recommend Crystal Rose as a music teacher.

I really enjoy Julie's lessons. Being an adult learner, I was nervous starting as a beginner. But Julie is very encouraging, patient, and knowledgeable. "Genevieve taught me the most I’ve ever learned about the cello in a mere two months. Through her I was able to move through an entire Suzuki book while also learning every scale (including chromatic) without using open strings. The techniques she taught me helped further my music that I still use today. Before studying with her I was fourth stand in my high school’s orchestra. By the end of the Summer I was able to achieve first chair and all of the offered solos."

"Paul is an amazing musician, teacher and individual. Over the course of a few weeks he specifically evaluated my singing and worked with me in order to improve my singing. With every lesson that I had, I was able to notice real improvement in my voice. Paul also exposed me to a wide array of musical styles, in order to better get to know my voice which I thoroughly enjoyed. He is very encouraging and friendly, from the first lesson he already works to help you feel comfortable.

All in all, by having Paul as an instructor you get to learn from an amazing, accomplished musician who truly knows his field and who also has a great personality while being a great teacher, I think that sums it up pretty well."

"My two children studied with Nancy for two years. They thoroughly enjoyed working with her and looked forward to their lessons. Nancy is a wonderful teacher who really connects with her students. The time, attention and dedication she spent resulted in my children making great progress on the piano. My son achieved first division ratings for his piano solos two years in a row under Nancy's direction. My daughter was selected to perform at recitals and talent shows based on her skills learned by Nancy. As a music teacher myself, I highly recommend Nancy to any student wishing to learn the piano."
