My approach is fun, simple, and easy to understand. I focus on getting a strong foundation and excellent first experience with music. The child will be given a lesson and theory book to work from, but will also be encouraged to sing music they personally like. This keeps the child motivated to practice and adds an element of fun! These songs can then be used in our recitals, for auditions, or put in their personal repertoire book.
I have also successfully prepared many students for their Cab Calloway School for the Arts auditions and have made it in.

I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge.
I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony
a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a couple of bands (Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz). My undergraduate studies were completed at the American University, where I majored in Communications (B.A.), and minored in Music, voice being my instrument. During my undergraduate studies, I was recruited and performed as the lead female vocalist for a Rock band that ...

My goal with all my students is to help them reach their potential through building the confidence and skills to create beautiful music. I was trained classically in my early teens and became more polished in contemporary and musical theatre styles throughout my high school and college years. I especially love creating my own music and playing the guitar. I have been singing since I could talk and I am beyond excited to share the gift of music with others!
About Abby
My goal for each of my students is to help them to gain confidence in themselves and their talents through improving the skills that are uniquely theirs. Every voice and every student is extremely unique and it is my quest to help each student become the singer they want to become. Each student wil

Singing is a very personal and transparent art form. Performing takes skill. It takes practice, commitment and fearlessness. I believe anyone can learn to sing with applying learned skills in these ways. It all comes dependent on the artist and time, but I believe in you and it can be done.
Lessons:
It is very important to feel comfortable when learning something new so that you are not afraid to fail. Getting over the fear of failing is the initial part that will free you to experiment with your voice and really grow. You will find a safe space here to do that.
In our lessons we will work on vocal agility, range, improvisation, healthy singing and healthy projection, diction, harmony, different genres and music theory.
I am so excited to get to know you and your voice and how much you will grow!

I will teach you a method of singing technique based on "Emotion Centered Singing" which was passed on to me by my teacher in Australia. This technique helped me immensely in finding my voice and expand my range. I'm thrilled to be able to share my experiences as a performer and teaching artist with you. This technique will truly help you understand music beyond melody and composition but also through text and individual interpretation and story telling.
I will help you choose repertoire for auditions and performances, birthday parties, celebrations. Most importantly is to have fun while learning.

Kristen was wonderful, she worked around my schedule and was an incredible instructor. I don't have much of a background in music and have a terrible ear. After trying to follow along with the notes on the piano and finding it difficult she recognized that I could hear the sound and imitate better when coming from another person's voice and she then would play the piano note, sing the note herself, and have me repeat it until I got more familiar with it all. Just an a+ teacher!!! I would definitely recommend her for any level of student and would be happy to take classes from her again!"

Here is the BEST Vocal coach ever. Allie has improved so much working with Fawn and her confidence is soaring. She tried out for a small part on a theatrical play and got one of the lead roles. Thank you Fawn, we are eternally grateful!"

As a singer, learning how to adjust your vocal cords is what helps you sing low notes and high notes with ease! This is what happens when we talk about vocal registers. You may have already heard about head voice and chest voice, but what else should you know? Here, voice teacher Elaina R. breaks it down... If you’ve ever heard a teenage boy’s voice crack (or heard your own voice break, as you try to reach a high note), you already know something about vocal registers. It may see …
