About Dave
I own a local music/art/production institution which hosts lessons for many instruments and artistic pursuits. Personally, I've been teaching for over 17 years, and I teach beginner to advanced students in instruments like guitar, bass, piano/keys, voice, and drums, and depending on your needs, our studio offers a variety of professional teachers that teach all woodwind, brass, and stringed instruments.

I also am an online teacher for a the world's biggest web platform for guitar instruction, and teach lessons alongside those in Berklee alumni, Musician's Institute, as well with many very famous artists that are now in the music business.

Though I've had the fortune to work with some of the best in studios, as a songwriter, and player, and in education, both professional and informal, I love to teach entry level players up through
the intermediate levels the most. I enjoy watching people discover things for the first time, and in my teaching I really do my best to craft my lessons to the needs of the students. My primary aim in teaching is that I would cultivate in my students a love for music and learning. With these two things in place, a student can go on to be and learn anything.

Join me, we'll have a great time, and we'll get you to your goals while we're enjoying the journey of music together!!

Dave is the absolute “best” teacher I have ever had! I’m an older (69) student and his techniques amaze me. I’m learning things I have never been exposed to and so wish I had had a teacher like Dave when I was 10...maybe I would be able to play! Thanks Dave!

I took Tom's violin lesson almost 6 years ago when I was visiting the US and trying to find a violin teacher during my staying. I was very lucky to meet Tom on craigslist. Tom is a very talented violinist, I always enjoyed his music when he demonstrated the phrase for me. He gave me many ideas about the music expression and many knowledge that I've never had before. He always encouraged me even if I knew I was not good enough. I still remembered the way he taught me to play the scales with metronome and remembered those fun moments working with him.

About Megan
Megan Healy is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado Boulder studying violin performance and pedagogy. While at CU, she has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant to Károly Schranz and Harumi Rhodes, the former and current second violinists in the world-renowned Takács quartet. As a teaching assistant, Megan provides weekly technique lessons to Masters and Undergraduate violin performance majors. Megan also holds Master of Music and Artist Diploma degrees from Western Michigan University, where she served as Graduate Teaching Assistant to Professor Renata Artman Knific, providing private instruction to undergraduate music therapy, music education, music composition, and music technology majors. Megan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Iowa under the tute
lage of Dr. Scott Conklin. She has studied viola performance with Professor Igor Fedotov and Dr. Megan Gray.

Megan enjoys a multifaceted career as a freelance performing artist and teacher. Current projects include lectures on teaching adult beginners and special needs populations for the American String Teachers Association, as well as an album of five new works for solo violin written by American female composers, inspired by and dedicated to Maud Powell. These works will be performed in a variety of contexts, including a recital tour, interdisciplinary performances, educational and outreach programs.

Megan currently performs with the Boulder Philharmonic, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Steamboat Springs Symphony Orchestra, and the Colorado Pops Orchestra, and has held positions with the Kalamazoo, Southwest Michigan, Southeast Iowa, and Holland (MI) symphony orchestras. Recent special engagements have included a performance as guest soloist with the Elgin (IL) Youth Symphony, interdisciplinary collaborations with Life/Art Dance Ensemble, and the live premiere of Julián Brijaldo's Atravesa'o for violin and delay pedal.

My primary goal as a teacher is make playing the violin/viola easy and fun. My teaching begins with a strong technical foundation. Having strong basics allows the violinist/violist to play their instrument with ease, having the freedom to play musically and creatively. I provide students with a balance of scales and arpeggios, etudes and technical exercises, classic repertoire, and supplement with fiddle, pop, and jazz tunes. It is my goal as a teacher to "decode" each individual student's personal learning style. I strive to create a fun and safe learning environment and to instill the values of lifelong learning, curiosity, and improvement in my students.

Megan is so pleasant and fun! She has strong focus on technique, and explains these practices in a way I can understand. Since I am a beginner, and adult learner, it's important that my music teacher is patient and cheers me along throughout the process - Megan definitely has that gift. I also appreciate that she writes down technique tips and exercises for me to practice at home (so I remember what she taught me in class.) I'm looking forward to continuing to learn from Megan, and play music beautifully on my Viola one day.

He's patient and great at breaking down trickier ideas to be understood by someone with minimal theory knowledge like myself. And he's a great player to boot! My teaching philosophy is simple; I want to help my students achieve the goals they have with music. Whether that is learning a few simple Taylor Swift songs or passing a entrance audition into a university, I want to see my students succeed. I have worked on a curriculum that teaches skills and concepts that every musician must know. The combination of having a good curriculum in combination with teaching the students the music they love, creates good musicians and inspired students that are excited to come to guitar lessons each week.
I structure my lessons into four categories; lines, chords, technique, and repertoire. Lines can include melodies, scales, and for more advanced students soloing. Technique is an important area of focus for guitarists. Many older guitarists I know have injuries due to bad technique. Its very important to
instill proper technique in younger students so they won’t develop bad habits and have injuries later in life.
I love teaching guitar. It has been the most rewarding thing in my life. Seeing students gain confidence in their playing and also in themselves is an incredible experience. As a life long student of music myself I believe it is crucial to create musicians and music lovers out of our students.
