About Farobag
Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

*** Lesson Details ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.

*** CD's***
Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501
Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014
Epiphanies1, The Halford Company

I've been playing a few instruments for 23 years, and finally decided to get into violin. Farobag made me realize that I know next to nothing about the violin, and there is so much to learn. I played only a few notes in my first lesson, but his instruction was worth every penny. I am very excited for the next lesson and look forward to learning everything I can from Farobag. Highly recommended.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessons. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general.
Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

If you will notice - I am the only accordion teacher that only teaches accordion. AND MY REVIEWS - are ALL for the Accordion!! That is what I play, that is all I play, I have studied with the best - Willard Palmer & Bill Hughes. I have owned and operated an accordion music school for over 20 years - with as many as 300 "accordion" students at any one time.

My philosophy - if it ain't fun - it ain't worth it!!!! I have over 500 accordion arrangements - that I use to teach with. All Genres, Classics to TOP Movie Themes - All Levels!

I have conducted Master Accordion Workshops all over the US and in Alaska. I have produced instructional You Tube lessons and several DVDs.

I have had my own performing combo for 22 years and a long history of strolling in Italian and German restaurants and performing at Ethnic Festivals since I was 7
(Performed with Myron Florin at the Wurstfest in Texas for 10 years!).

I teach the piano keyboard accordion as well as the B & C system Chromatic. I also have written lesson materials for the 3 row Diatonic Accordion. Before I closed the physical studio - I had an accordion teaching staff of over 6 instructors and 125 students.

*** On-Line Lesson***
Lesson material will be emailed in advance. Min. Charge based on selections used.

*** Lesson Materials ***
I use Palmer & Hughes instruction books and personally arranged selections for the taste of the student. I use personally produced accompaniment CDs for enhanced performance of students. Frankie has been my piano instructor for several years now. He's always on-time, communicates well, and treats my house with respect (my instructions are at home). He's let me learn at my own pace while challenging me to do things the "correct way." And he doesn't mind the occasional side-discussion on music theory or history.

About Megan
I am an experienced and well-rounded musician of nearly 22 years. I have studied the piano, cello, and clarinet throughout my life and am currently a freelance performer in Colorado Springs. I have taught professionally since 2009.

I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, Clarinet Performance in 2013. I received a GPA of 3.3 and studied and performed both clarinet and cello. In 2015, I graduated from California State University of Sacramento with a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music with a 4.0 GPA. I mainly performed clarinet at the university, many local ensembles, chamber music, and I even had the opportunity to perform abroad in the United Kingdom in 2016.

I taught elementary band with the San Juan Unified School district from 2013-2015. While I was pursuing
my teaching credential, I student-taught in Davis Joint Unified School District from 2014-2015. Then, I was employed with Twin Rivers Unified School District from 2015-2017, where I had the privilege to teach elementary general music and choir to students learning English as a second language, students of special needs, and in addition, students from very low income homes. Most recently, I taught elementary general music, choir, and band with the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District from 2017-2018.

I recently moved to Colorado Springs because my husband is a newly commissioned officer with the United States Air Force Academy Band, stationed at Peterson Air Force Base here in Colorado Springs. We have loved our experience so far in Colorado and love to explore the outdoor activities and sight-seeing in our free time.

Megan is an excellent musician & yes, a kind and gentle person. But, please know, she is one of the most self-motivated students I ever encountered! Performed recital not required at an extremely high level of musicianship - and after graduation, successfully pursued a performance career! I’m certain that she’s great at sharing her knowledge - but also her enthusiasm is extremely contagious! Whether clarinet, cello, or piano, you (or your student) must experience her joy of music and of life in general!

About Donna
I have been playing the guitar and writing music for most of my adult life. I started lessons when I was 13 years old, and continued lessons for 7 years. I started teaching guitar when I was 16 years old and was privileged to have taught dozens of people throughout my career. For the last few years I have focused on perfecting my craft of songwriting and have had some success. Now, I want to pay it forward. Whether you're just starting out learning the guitar, or you want to learn to write music, I would be honored to be your teacher.

Biography

Stricken with spinal meningitis at the age of 18 months, Donna lost 60% of her hearing. Regardless, music has always been special in her life, remembering “composing” symphonies in her head as early as 5 years old. Being a child of the 60’s, the biggest influence in Donna’s life musically
was the Beatles, couple with a strong exposure to the classics. Being unbearably shy and self-conscious due to her disability, Donna’s entire world exploded at the age of 13 when she started playing the guitar and writing music. Determined to set an example for other people with disabilities, she put together several bands over the next 30 years, acquiring local success with Buffalos’ first all female country band, touring all over Western New York and Pennsylvania. Besides being the leader of the band, Donna played the guitar, banjo and wrote all the bands original music. Due to the success of her last band “Sweet Phantasy” Donna was featured in a half hour television special focusing on her ability to perform and write music, despite her hearing loss. Now with her performing days behind her, Donna is concentrating all her creative abilities on perfecting her craft of songwriting. Having written 100’s of songs over the years, she is writing new and re-writing some old, having them produced and recorded in Nashville for that pure country sound. Tapping in to the wisdom that comes with experience, her music now has taken on a new life, and richness of its own. “Now, I tell it like it is because I’ve been there, done that, and have a lot to say”. Her song "TRY" was released in July 2017 by recording artist Mia Kylie Ditta, opening up a slew of new and exciting projects and co-writes in the works.
