You won't find a more versatile or proficient guitarist then Johnny A... he can go from grimy dirty Zep type of licks to the mean and crisp GNR "Slash" types of riff... though I didn't work with him in a student/ capacity- I as well as many of the team we were working with were amazing by his discipline and ability to reproduce his performances... He would make a great teacher for any level player...and could even teach you old dogs a few new tricks to...

I have known John Angiletta since high school during which time he showed me what a gifted person in music can do with a guitar. He taught me Stairway to Heaven back then and I have never forgot it. His precision and creativity in playing the guitar has never ceased to amaze me especially recently with his you tube performances of various guitar leads, etc. such as Carry On My Wayward Son.

John A. was my first guitar teacher many years ago. I took lessons with him for a few months after having played on my own for a little over a year. Although I was driven to play well, his lessons were crucial in my development as a young guitarist. It was exactly what I needed at that age. He was very encouraging and his confidence in me was important for me going forward. Now after almost 30 years of playing, I myself am a guitar instructor, composer and recording artist. What so impressive about John is his versatility. Not many teachers can be both proficient on both electric and classical guitar. If you are looking for a very well informed, passionate, patient and thoughtful instructor and fantastic player, then John is the guitar teacher for you.

"My students really look forward to each lesson. I'm enthusiastic, patient, and I always motivate my students to believe in themselves. My students thoroughly enjoy learning music, and I ensure that each student progresses every week. " - Angela, Parent of Andrew (11 years old) and Julianne (9 years old).

"I had a great great learning experience with Jaclyn! She is creative, patient, fun, like to challenge - it has made my piano learning journey so much fun! Till date, I have about 1 year learning experience with her - my skill has improved tremendously! I still remember my first lesson was "where is Middle C note/key?" Today, I can play a Minuet music piece! All great work and encouragement from Jaclyn.

The greatest thing that I learnt from Jaclyn - you can be great pianist to read music sheet, but that doesn't means that you can play a piece of good music. Almost every music piece, she taught it with a different style, phrasing and expressions! Every lesson is a new world to explore and she made it so enjoyable." Denise (Age 30)

David C.

Fords, NJ

About David

I grew up in a musical home, my father was a rock and roll and soul session drummer throughout the '60's and '70's in New York. I picked up the guitar at 11 years old and started taking lessons. After studying classical and jazz throughout high school I attended William Paterson University from 1994 - 1997, majoring in Music Education and studying with jazz guitar guru Vic Juris and classical guitarist Rich Jacobowski. And the later at CCNY with Ornette Coleman alum Kenny Wessel.

In 1997, I moved to Brooklyn and cut my teeth in the NYC R&B and rock club scene playing in the band Sole Pocket
, and with various jazz combos at many other clubs including the Blue Note and the Knitting Factory. In 2003 I returned to college at CCNY (city college of New York), majoring in Jazz Performance and studying with Ornette Coleman alum, Kenny Wessel. I also formed my Hip Hop band, Spokinn Movement, and started my long standing weekly Hip Hop event, Freestyle Mondays (still running after 10 years!) in the East Village. Freestyle Mondays has attracted some of the best musicians in NYC and the world to sit in or just hang out, including Tarus Mateen, Marcus Miller (Miles Davis bassist), Ari Hoenig, Kurt Rosenwinkle, Tim Motzer, Adam Deitch and countless others. In the summer of 2005, I recorded for a couple of months with Lauryn Hill. I then spent 3 months playing in China and Hong Kong as well as several tours of the UK and Europe with Spokinn Movement.

Most recently I have been a sub guitarist for the Tony award (best score, best orchestration 2008) and Pulitzer prize winning musical Next To Normal, as well as first guitar at the 2010 Williamstown Theater Festival Production of critically acclaimed musical "The Last Goodbye" which features the music of Jeff Buckley (the first project licensed by his estate since his untimely passing in 1997).

*** Lesson Details ***
Like my musical abilities, I am an extremely versatile teacher. If you need a strict program, I can "crack the whip", but if you'd rather just learn some tunes you like, without all the theory and technical stuff, we'll find a balanced program that works for your learning style.

I have been teaching for 10 years, so whether you're trying to make the high school all state jazz band or learning a new Arcade Fire tune, I can steer you in the right direction. I'll keep you motivated to improve and become the artist you want to be. With simple, clear direction from me and a little practice and hard work from you, we'll have you playing your favorite music in just a couple of months.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Dedicated to music, weighted casio, room for parents to wait

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a guitar, but if a student is going to practice, I would think they would need to purchase a guitar at some point. I suppose I could bring an amp as well. Students should also have a manuscript book and/or a method book (depending on their level).

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in jazz guitar, but am experienced and well versed in rock, blues, classical, hip hop, R&B, funk and pretty much anything else.

5 yr old guitar lessons

David has been excellent with my 5 year old. He is extremely patient, fun, and friendly and is teaching her how to play the guitar. i am amazed. I didn't think it was even possible for her to learn as much as she has. i would highly recommend David to teach any child music.

Dave is a very enthusiastic teacher with good theoretical knowledge on the piano. His practical knowledge is OK. Dave is very good with letting the student determine his goals and then he tailors his lessons around those goals. This makes the lessons more enjoyable. The only suggestion I would have is that he should have the sheet music written in advance for that day's lesson. He had the music written in advance on our last lesson but for one or two previous ones, he was writing the music during the lesson which took time away from the lesson. Overall, I was very happy with Dave and would recommend him.

The request for a review is a bit premature as I have only had one lesson with Rina, but it's obvious she knows her stuff. In just a few minutes of observing my primitive play, she was able to help me improve and correct my technique. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute...and not one minute of the lesson was wasted.
She is focused, clear, and precise in her instruction. At the same time, she creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere in which to learn.

I have been taking acoustic guitar lessons with Rina for about 10 weeks. When I first started I did not know anything about the guitar, but she made it easy by getting me started on learning just one sting at a time. Now I know all of the strings and play chords and a number of tunes. She is very patient and an excellent instructor. I am very happy with my progress and I plan on continuing with guitar lessons until I can play a wide variety of music.

Through my methods of teaching a student could excel, learn, and become an accomplish musician at any age. I work within the age group that is, to teach in the level of that student instead of above them.I have help students to get into bands and become songwriters. I show students how to practice within 15 minutes and become productive in ideas and have fun in the process all ages could have fun. I am one of those individuals who love to teach music and my reward is when you learn and feel good about your studies in the instrument so my last words to conclude in all of this is “have fun and enjoy the beauty of music.”

I am emphatic about learning music I cover all the grounds in music such as theory the basics to harmony and my favorite songwriting and get you to play what you like
I have worked with all ages and the one thing I know in the beginning is to make that student feel comfortable and to get the attention from that student so they can learn, play, and most importantly have fun with it.
I show students time management in their studies how to practice in such a little time I plan each lesson and if the lesson is not right for that day I quickly go into a second plan. I can always detect if the plan does not go well because there is one thing a teacher must know and that is to teach in the level of the student and not beyond so they can succeed properly and move on to the next level.

Great Teacher

Vince has shown patience and professionalism since the first day I started.
He answers questions fully and allow the lessons to flow at a pace that works for me.
His lessons stay on point and we don't proceed unless I have a grasp of the technique or principle.
I recommend him for prospective students of all ages.
