I have been teaching mainly Guitar and Bass Guitar for about 8 years. My lessons are tailored to not only include the foundations needed to become a solid player, but also include the styles and songs you actually want to learn! Every student is different. So, I like to adapt my lessons as much as possible to not only the way each student learns, but also the goals and interests they have. I want to get you to the point that you can play the songs you love as soon as possible and have fun doing it! Whether you are 8 years old, 18 years old or 48 years old, I'd love to teach you!

About Hissael

I have been teaching and tutoring students for 6 years now. I teach math and guitar. The thing I love most about my teaching isn't the end result of a student's passing report card or a student's accomplishment of learning a difficult musical piece. Started with some basics and built on that. Was very helpful in showing me tuning, proper hand positioning, and how to improve my fingering (those pesky notes). Got a lot for the first class and enough homework to keep me busy! Will be meeting again next week.

It is my goal as a teacher to give you the tools to play music but more importantly to create music.

My Teaching Philosophy

Left Hand-
Scales and arpeggios our the bedrock of music. They are the foundation of everything harmonically and melodically. We will begin with learning our major, minor and pentatonic scales and corresponding arpeggios. Once we have an understanding of those we will delve into our modes and more “exotic” scales.

Right Hand-
The right hand is our time machine. It gives us the ability to play in time and with groove and feel. We will work on rhythmic studies string crossings and practicing with a metronome. Remembering music is harmony, Melody and rhythm working as one.

For those who are new to playing music the hardest thing for some to master is rhythm/time keeping. It is the black and white right or wrong of the music world. Often times our want to progress quickly is hampered by skipping over the basic building blocks of rhythm and ...

"I reached out to Emily for some practice with the very basics of singing. I had never had any practice with fundamentals and form before and she helped me get on the right track. Emily is very tuned in to herself and her clients during a lesson and can help you find ways in which your body is keeping you from reaching your full potential. The internet connection was lost once and we reconnected but there was no problems with lagging or anything of that nature."

"Most excellent first guitar lesson to where we actually played a song together. I'm blown away. What fun! I only hope I can remember the chords when I practice on my own, and I look forward to my next lesson with Mike. I can already tell I'll be signing up for more lessons. Great teacher, and I can say that because I tried to learn some years ago with another instructor, and he made me feel like I'd just never get it and may as well give up. Mike erased all that negativity for me in 30 minutes. Thanks, Mike!"

Not only are the arias generally age-inappropriate, but they make vocal demands on the singer that often requires a training period longer than the child has been alive! Less publicly, but equally common, are singers who wrong-foot themselves with inappropriate repertoire at local singing competitions and music festivals. They might pick …
