It is very important that you have access to a piano for vocal lessons. I can help improve the discipline and talent of any singer right up until foreign languages are involved. I'm a musician, not a linguist! :)

About Christopher
www.pianomancan.com

My name is Christopher, or Chris for short. I am a composer, arranger, pianist, vocalist, and private tutor. I have taught private lessons in classical and contemporary piano performance, vocal performance, guitar performance, music theory, and musicianship to local students for the past 10 years. I currently have 36 weekly students all over Ventura County. I attended CSUN'€™s school of music where I received my Bachelor'€™s of Music in Music Composition. My other experience includes teaching at 2 different music studios (Perry Music Studios and Brookyln's Conservatory of Music), teaching Confirmation classes to teenagers at St. Jude'€™s Catholic Church, and teaching English to Japanese high school students through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.

IMPORTANT NOTE: My availability is very limited right now due to t
he amount of students I have, however please don't hesitate to message me requesting specific times that are currently unavailable -- I can often shuffle things around to accommodate different scheduling needs.

My philosophy when it comes to doing anything with music is that it should be fun! Whether you're practicing a piece, playing with a band, writing something new, or even learning music theory, music is primarily about enjoying yourself and the others around you.

The best way to ensure that you enjoy yourself is to learn what you want to learn and play what you want to play. In addition to a standard curriculum, I want you to tell me what kind of music you're interested in and what kind of pieces you want to play! Do you love classic rock? Do you love pop? Blues? Jazz? Folk tunes? Opera? Or maybe you're a fan of the classical masters? Whatever the case may be, my number one goal is to make sure you're having fun while you develop your new talents.

I'm comfortable teaching students as young as 7 years of age, although I can teach even younger if they are especially well-behaved.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Blues, Jazz, Improv, Composition, Theory

I really like working with Chris a lot for several reasons. First he is a very kind & enthusiastic teacher who is always very cheerful and always brings his best to the lessons. As an adult student, I'm not very confident about myself. He has helped to bring that confidence back. He was able to help me tackle the speed problem for a piece of music that I was having trouble with for a long time. And with just a few words of advice, he was able to help me fix the problem right away. Chris is truly a fantastic teacher! I'm glad to be his student.

About Paul
I am a firm believer in the power of music to heal, entertain, and teach. It is our first and most vital universal human language and as such, I believe we all have the ability to learn how to communicate beautifully with music to express our deepest feelings. As a teacher it is my privilege and pleasure to help you develop.

From classical violin to jazz piano my early musical education not only spanned genres and instruments but also geographically from Austin Texas to Madison Wisconsin and finally brought me to Los Angeles where I currently reside and produce and teach music professionally.

Helping you or your child reach your musical dreams in a friendly-nurturing environment is my sincere desire and obligation as your teacher. Discipline is required and to be expected, however, an overly rigid or demanding routine can do mo
re harm than good. I believe attention must be paid to individual learning styles. Therefore, as a teacher I have learned to observe carefully at first and custom tailor a practice routine with each student aimed at achieving their goals. I believe the study of music helps foster a deep level of self-confidence and self realization, which eventually leads the student to discover a portion of himself he would otherwise never know. My goal is to inspire others with this joy, which is everyone's birthright and an important key in finding happiness.

A gifted singer-songwriter of Pop, Rock, World and Reggae songs that possess that timeless quality. He has recorded with 2 time Grammy nominated producer Barry Goldberg (Eagles, Robbie Robertson, Verve Pipe, Marilyn Manson). He has released three CDs, had songs featured in compilations and in feature length film, toured North America, and taught guitar, piano, and voice both privately and in an all ages Montessori school in Santa Monica. He consistently played in a variety of bands while earning an A.A. in music from SMC and later a B.A. in Ethnomusicology from UCLA, where he earned distinction as an excellent student both academically and in musical performance. He brought passion to his performances with legends, Fransisco Aguabellas Afro Cuban ensemble, Brazilian Batucada ensemble, African-American gospel choir, music and dance of Ghana, and the Balinese Gamelan ensemble. As a member of several original LA bands, (Las Manchas, Samson Simpson, Toussaint, Mentone, Cloth and Spicy Fernandez) he has performed at world famous venues and toured North America. He co-wrote and co-produced the first EP records by Samson Simson with Ronen Navah, and also co-produced Mentone's first full-length record, "Empire" with Ronen Navah and Aki Ehara" Currently he is developing his new band, Spicy Fernandez, which has released a few singles on the internet and is getting a good buzz from Industry heavy weights.

I believe in custom tailoring a curriculum to fit the students needs, while still providing them with the same basic tools all musicians need to develop in order to play well (both with themselves and with others). Obviously, some students require more structure and discipline, while others have a stronger work ethic. Some may even need a teacher that is more laid back to balance them out, but more so my job is to facilitate learning and guide. A student studying with me can expect to receive a general assessment of their skill level in musicianship, theory, and on their instrument within the first couple of lessons (or once I feel that I have experienced enough of their abilities). Based on that assessment, I will work with the student to develop a plan of small goals to work toward. Progress will be monitored weekly and larger goals will unfold naturally in accord with the students own dreams and musical ambitions. Within 3 to 6 months of study with me students will learn to play a range of simple songs, basic scales, exercises, finger positions, and have a solid foundation for listening to, and playing to rhythm.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Full acoustic upright, Wurlizter electric piano, and keyboard synths, a computer based digital audio workstation...guitars...percussion...in the front room of my house. Has a full set-up for a band.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide copies of some sheet music, a library of music books, percussion instruments, digital recordings of lessons.
I expect that they provide their own instrument, pencil, notebook, 3-ring binder for sheet music, stereo/mp3 player, CD player, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I excel at popular music genres such as pop, blues, R&B, rock, and jazz. I am also trained classically and enjoy the challenges of standard repertoire from Bach to Chopin.
I began studying music as a student of the Suzuki method. However, today I find that my own practice resembles most closely, the Kodály, Dalcroze, and Orff-Schulwerk methodologies in philosophy and application.

Paul is very talented and, a very good and patient teacher. He is prepared for the class even before you arrive at his place, and communicates his thoughts very clearly. He is ready for a challenge if you give him a random song which you wanted to practice, and he begins to play the song on the guitar without any tabs or notes, instead just by listening to it a couple of times.

He's great to work with, and I'd choose him as my guitar teacher again if I ever live in the surrounding area.

The guitar is the instrument with which I have developed bad habits and posture over the years, but in addition to correcting these things, I really needed help with music theory. Also, as opposed to being a kid with all the time in the world to practice and study, I'm a 40-something with a busy, full-time job in the middle of my daily life. De'Anza was flexible enough to work with these issues of mine while still keeping me focused on a positive, effective lesson plan. That is the mark of a professional. Thank you De'Anza!

My goal is to work with the individual singer in acquiring a solid, healthy vocal technique which results in healthy singing. Students will learn to navigate their voice and work around problem areas. Students will expand range and learn to manipulate the voice to fit the musical style required of the piece.

Each private voice lesson will consist of focused work catered toward the students’ needs. The technique will then be applied to the repertoire chosen by the teacher and student.

About Jennifer
I have always had a passion for musical theatre and vocal performance. I belted my way to Los Angeles and attended the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where I received a B.M. in Vocal Performance.

Upon completing my Bachelor’s degree, I received an M.M. in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory. When I wasn’t enjoying some wicked good clam chowdah, I could be found onstage as a concert soloist with the Boston Pops conducted by Keith Lockhart or belting the national anthem at Fenway Park.

Wanting to combine my joy for traveling with my love for performance, I also studied acting at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England, musical theatre at NYU’s CAP 21, and opera at OperaWorks in California. I have performed in New York at Birdland and the Laurie Beechman Theatre, and in New Hampsh
ire with the Great Waters Music Festival and New Hampshire Dance Institute.

Fueling my wanderlust, I traveled the world in the International Tour of CATS. I have also performed in many regional theatres throughout the country. Some of my favorite credits include: The Marvelous Wonderettes, Light in the Piazza, Guys and Dolls, The Golden Apple, and The Full Monty.

I've been teaching private lessons since 2006 and have loved helping my students expand their vocal range, increase their repertoire, gain solid technique, and just enjoy singing. Each lesson will begin with a vocal warm-up focusing on breath, posture, and technique. We will then work on your music together. I want to know what type and styles of music you like and am happy to help provide you with new material ideas. My background is primarily in musical theatre/Broadway which embraces all styles of music including classical, jazz, pop, rock, and country.

I can't wait to meet you!

Hello, I have a college degree in Music with focus on Singing and Live Performances. In my lessons i Will access your level of singing and build a solid training plan to start pitching the areas that needs correction and/or strengthening, checking for bad habits on breathing and vowel or tong placement. I will then teach and practice through various vocal exercises how to do all the different voicings, sing through "the break" and increasing vocal range and then Apply it to your favorite songs. I teach a contemporary method of vowel placement, not Classical, witch is a different voice!

About Socrates

I went through a lot to get where I am now and I got my College Degree from Musicians Institute in the Vocal Program. Not only will I be able to teach a variety of vocal techniques, but I will also help with the performing side of singing, where you can express yourself truthfully.

I believe everyone can sing, and the biggest thing that gets in our way is our-self. With singing our body is our instrument. I give my students basic tools to help them unlock the full potential of their instrument and free their voice. Fundamentals of singing translate through various styles of music and performance. Working with breath control and relaxation exercises we can set a strong foundation in technique, and then move forward into exploring range and musicality.

About Jackie Nicole
Jackie is available for in-studio or in-home lessons and is searching for students as passionate and committed to learning about their voice as she is! At age 6, Jackie caught the music bug with piano lessons which she continued to study until age 18. In high school she discovered her true calling in musical theatre. She went on to get her B.A. in Theatre Arts from California State University of Northridge while simultaneously taking voice lessons outside of school and completing the Certificate of Merit for voice at Level 10 with Honors. After 7 years of study, she started teaching musical theatre in 2012 with students ages 6-16 in a summer camp and after school program. Since then she has been teaching private voice lessons to those interested in better understanding their instrument. Her hope is to build up a studio roster with student
s who understand the importance of long term practice and commitment in order to see growth in themselves and their art.

If you are already singing onstage or in a choir, and would like to have a more beautiful, freely produced voice, I can show you how. By developing a healthy bel canto technique, you can eliminate the "breaks" that make it feel like you have two or three voices, instead of one. You can learn to release that will fill a theater without the muscular effort that wears your voice down.

About David
I teach the bel canto method of voice that I learned in preparation for my professional opera and legit musical theater career. This technique creates an ease and freedom of production that makes the voice more flexible and naturally resonant. As a performer, I relied on this singing technique to maintain my vocal health while singing eight performances a week in large theaters, and to make my voice carry clearly over the massive sound of an opera orchestra.

Other coaches and teachers are better than I am at teaching you a new song or helping you first enter the world of singing. If you would like to take your singing experience to the next level by discovering the natural beauty of your voice, and overcome difficulties like these:
--vocal "breaks"
--difficulty with higher or lower notes
--becoming hoarse after singing

then w
e could probably make a lot of progress by working together.

David is so wonderful. I took lessons with him when I was a teen, and he was so kind and helpful (he still is of course lol). I learned so much that I still use today! The songs we learned were my audition pieces in college. He picked songs that really spoke to me in many different ways, giving me a range to work with. I miss our time working together, but I hope others will get the opportunity to learn with such a fantastic teacher!

I am a producer, and hired Sophia to come to my studio and coach a singer I am working with. She was instrumental in getting the lead vocal takes recorded and creating a positive environment for the singer, which also takes a lot of patience. We got the best takes I've heard from the artist by far. I learned so much in the process as well. Her techniques seem endless in helping a vocalist get the sound they are seeking. She's clearly gifted with an unbelievable and infectious voice which makes learning from her all the more easy and enjoyable. Sophia also has a great ear for vocal production, given her extensive background as a session vocalist. She went to Berklee College of Music so she is also proficient with music theory. On top of all of that she's hilarious and the session was a blast. Highly recommended, she's a monster talent!

I am a modern voice instructor in that not only do I have the experience and education to teach singing, I also am equipped with today's tools of writing, recording, and production. I find that many of my students today not only want to sing but also want to learn how to share their voice. What separates me from other voice teachers is that I am able to start with a student from the ground floor with technique then help them discover their artistry then help them share it with the world. Whether they want to sing at a music venue, become a YouTube musician, sing on a TV show, or learn to create their own songs at a pro level, I can take their musical journey full circle.

About Alex
Hello prospective students!
I am a kind, reliable and patient person as well as an accomplished musician, teacher and producer. My experience singing and teaching covers virtually any style including pop, jazz, rock, rnb, musical theater and more. I’ve been very lucky to have amazing teachers in my life from Berklee to Julliard who not only have empowered me with the skillset to succeed in music but also the freedom to be myself. My aim is to continue this tradition by enriching the lives of my students with knowledge and a role model as well as having fun in the process. Thank you for your consideration.

ABOUT ME:
I have over twenty years experience singing. My background in music performance is very rich. I started when I was four in church choir then moved on to starring in the school musicals then to having my own rock band that wo
n a statewide rock band competition and played a major festival.

Following High School, I got accepted in the prestigious Berklee College of Music as a voice principal. There I was able to study with some of the top teachers in the world from Janice Pendarvis to Donna McElroy and others. In addition to taking lessons on voice, I also studied music production and ultimately graduated in 2014 with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. Now with Berklee under my belt, I was able to sing, write, and produce professional quality songs.

Following music school, I moved to LA to further my music career. Since being here, I made it to the judges round of America’s Got Talent where I sang in front of 4,000 people including Simon Cowell. I also linked up with Warner Brothers Entertainment as a writer and producer and have finished three contracts for them. One of my originals songs was recently featured on “The Real” on BET four times.
I also had the privilege of traveling the world as a singer with Carnival Cruise Lines singing all genres of music from Motown to rock to the music of today.

I am a experienced teacher (2 years of piano and voice) and coach (7 years coaching acting) ready to help beginner/intermediate voice students get their basics down in an exciting way! All ages are welcome as we explore the most difficult, unique, and awe-inspiring instrument: the voice!

Musical theater has been my passion and joy since I was a kid, belting along to my favorite divas (Heather Headley, Idina Menzel, and Bernadette Peters). For your voice, I want to give you the confidence and ability to sing anything from the backbone of technique. We'll go through excellent warm-up techniques, how to free your voice with alignment, and letting expression guide us. If your interests lie in opera and/or musical theater, we'll select repertoire based on roles and develop the whole picture, including assembling an audition book (my specialty).

Whatever your wants are, we can achieve them through the foundation of basic theory, music history (including with contemporary pieces), ...

About Laila
I am a professional singer, Shakespeare actor, and pianist that graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a Music degree (which I attended on a full ride scholarship) where voice was my primary instrument and piano was my secondary. Currently, I am the assistant music director and alto section leader at a church while I pick up freelance gigs.

For you, I think the excitement and wonder in music all lie in finding deeper pieces of you. Instead of sticking only to classics, I encourage branching out of type and into the root of all the depth you can play, both on stage and on the bench.

Vocal styles: Broadway (specialty in assembling a "book" for auditions as well as audition prep); Classical/Opera (from art song to aria selection); Contemporary (I love me some Adele). We can achieve these styles through a foundation of
