Choral study is another personal favorite of mine. However, I have extensive training and experience in other live performance styles. From rock bands to jazz and/or classical choral settings, I have performed in multiple scenarios. Whatever your personal or professional goals are concerning vocal performance, I can help you to achieve them.

About Daniel
In addition to teaching music, I have also worked as a special education assistant and wrestling/track coach at Lake Zurich Middle School South and an assistant Kung Fu/Tai Chi instructor at Green Mountain Arts in Logan Square, Chicago, Illinois. Jazz piano, Voice, and Composition are my main areas of expertise. However, I have also been recording, and playing guitar almost my entire life. I fully believe in music education not only for entertainment and personal enjoyment, but for many other means.
Beyond its capacity for being used as entertainment, music aids in learning, helps develop advanced motor skills, increases memory function, and many other purposes for a well rounded education. It is my goal to help educate the next generation in traditional music practices as well as incorporate new techniques that are relevant to our
current day and age.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lesson plans vary from person to person. I always make it a point to get to know the student's existing musical knowledge, goals, and background before I create a personalized lesson plan. All important concepts are covered as they are needed so students can understand theoretical concepts based upon actual application and usage. In short, I teach in a way that students can "dig in" right away and play, create, improvise, sing and/or compose freely and naturally. I always encourage students or parents to contact me with their goals, previous musical training, etc., and discuss what they really want out of lessons so they can get the most out of taking me on as an instructor.

Daniel adapted throughout the course of the hour-long lesson to understand what I already knew and find appropriate ways to fill in the gaps of my knowledge. He also started me on the process of learning a new approach when looking at and learning to play new music pieces.

Jan is a fun and dynamic instructor whose patience and attention to the needs of her students has been instrumental in helping my daughter enjoy and thrive in her voice and piano lessons. While some instructors, in our experience, have been excellent musicians but poor teachers, Jan's style and flexibility make her an ideal person for passing on her knowledge to students, so that they in turn develop their own musical talents and shine. Many thanks, Jan, for your gifts!

As a singer/songwriter, it's so important to understand even the basics of both subjects. With singing, the essentials are so important; things as simple as warming up. I've been studying the voice since elementary school choir, and more recently I've taken classes in college as well as private lessons to better understand how to care for the voice and how to get the most potential from it as a performer.

About Olivia
I love to create. The way I'm most comfortable creating is through writing; whether it's a song, a short story, a poem or a script. Writing has always been the bass line in my life; the heartbeat.

Music and film are both passions of mine. I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied Songwriting and Music Therapy. I was pushed to my absolute limits lyrically and musically within these majors, and I am so grateful for it now that I'm on my own creative journey.

I have a great deal of experience, but I am also still learning. I think it is very important as a teacher to always be learning, especially through their students. Teaching these lessons is, of course, about progress and advancement - but also about enjoyment, confidence building and positive encouragement.

Awesome

Finding Olivia was no coincidence. My 11 year old daughter is so psyched when she has her lessons!
It is in Liv's home, just a 10 minute ride from where we live,it's warm, safe, and filled with talent.
The passion of music is everywhere you look,Daphne and Olivia are
Ike old souls that just jive together perfectly.
Daphne has gained confidence,a mentor, and a ton of fun,
I thought Daphne was on a short lived path,as kids often jump from one idea to the next, but I believe singing is something she will definitely peruse.
I am so pleased with Take Lessons and especially Olivia.

I have been singing since I was four years old. I have been trained in classical, gospel, show choir, musical theater.

I've led choirs or all ages, children's and teen musical productions.

I developed vocal chord nodules in 2006 and had to learn to sing and speak all over again. So, I'm passionate about teaching students how to sing CORRECTLY and building their confidence and stage presence.

About Dana
Hi. My name is Dana B. I have a passion for teaching students how to read music, understand basic theory and even choose some of your own music without feeling the frustrating pressure that is often associated with music lessons. I teach a foundation of piano method, technique and theory, using classics with a good mix of fun and contemporary music thrown in! I also teach voice and performance.

I was formally trained in piano for over 10 years by a teacher from the National Guild of Piano Teachers and I have been playing for more than 30 years. I have extensive professional and volunteer experience teaching children/youth of all ages. Time slots are available both after school hours and during the school day for home-schoolers.

I would love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm about music with you and your child!

My voice has significantly improved after lessons with Hannah. My tone and pitch have also improved dramatically. If you are interested in writing songs, Hannah is also a great teacher for that. I have written many songs since taking lessons from her. You don't even have to leave your home because Hannah can teach skype lessons. Many people don't like Skype lessons because they seem impersonal. I recommend trying a free lesson. You will see that Hannah makes it seem like she's there in person. I live in the country so this has been very convenient. I love her teaching style. She has empowered me to create many beautiful songs. She is very well qualified and knows what she's talking about.

No matter where you are starting from, I will take you where you want to go with your voice.

About James
I'm currently a professor at EMMAT, a member school of the Berklee International Network. I have over a quarter-century experience teaching people of all backgrounds and styles. My education is a mix of formal and informal, and in addition, I have worked as a professional musician and singer my whole life.

I consider everybody that comes to me to be reachable and teachable, and pride myself on having accomplished what many people considered to be impossible with my students. I believe that through dedication and discipline anybody can accomplish their musical goals, no matter how hard it may seem.

In piano, I have my own custom method that borrows heavily from the exercises designed by Donhanyi. In voice, I follow closely the techniques taught by great teachers such as Seth Riggs and Brett Manning, but I have more than a few trick

I have studied, sang, and performed a variety of styles: opera, musical theater, classical songs, and have even worked with rock singers.

About Tyler
Tyler is an international award winning composer from the state of Iowa, USA. Tyler has written for many mediums including film, opera, choir, orchestra, chamber and solo instruments, and electronics.

As a teacher, Tyler has taught voice, music theory, sight reading, and composition lessons to students of all ages. He has a degree in music education, a degree in composition, and is currently finishing his final degree.

When taking lessons; you can expect to achieve the following:
Fundamentals of singing
Building singing skills
How to read and write music
How to listen to music
Sight Singing
Scales
Key signatures
Intervals
Dictation
Chords and how they work
How to analyze music

Here are a few reviews from students I have taught:
Mr. S was a great teacher. He was always professional and fair about his tests and
grading. Aside from the basic music theory 1 curriculum itself, he gave the class additional input that gave some of the concepts more context. I learned alot. Most of all, I appreciated his willingness to help me on an individual basis. I don't think I grasped some of the concepts as fast as other students, but Mr. S was always there to lend a helping hand. At times, I'd run into him just as he was leaving the building, but he'd still help me with a homework problem or two. He didn't have to do this, but I'm thankful that he did. I'd recommend Mr. S to anyone wanting to take Music Theory.

Mr. S is an absolutely fantastic teacher. I doubt I would have learned as much as I did throughout the Aural skills sequence at UGA if he wasn't my instructor. He just has a way with teaching and getting concepts across that is very effective. He goes above and beyond to make sure no one in the class ever falls behind, and is very understanding and willing to give extra help. He's so great!.

I love Mr. S, he was very helpful and took time out of his schedule to help me when ever possible! The only thing I would say is try to include more dictations in class, don't focus as much on theory behind it, deffinetly still go over it but just not as much. For example it really did help though when, you would go over the functions of each chord and note. Thank you for a great year!

I thought that Mr. was a very good instructor. He was always willing to meet outside of class to help you with questions. He also tried to explain things many ways when you don't understand. He is very smart and good at what he does. I hope to h

Experienced singer and teacher with a degree in vocal music education. I focus on learning to control the voice in all of its aspects so that it can be used to sing any and all styles. My go to styles are classical and musical theater, which I have been teaching and performing since I graduated college in 2016. My lessons are catered to the desires of the individual student, whose progress I will be tracking so that I can provide weekly updates. I also have a background in composition and theory that I can use to teach the basics of music to beginners.

About Coltyn
I am a professional singer in the Milwaukee area currently performing with a band that plays original pop/rock music and as a member of several professional choruses, such as Bel Canto, in which I am a section leader and soloist. I learned to sing by taking lessons at a young age which progressed into a degree in vocal music education from Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. After teaching at two different schools in the Greater Milwaukee Area I moved onto teaching individual voice lessons, as it fit my teaching style better.

Students taking lessons in my studio can expect to learn something new every week while reviewing old material to maintain peak performance level. I pick lessons based on fixing flaws in individual voices that I hear as well as building strengths. I've narrowed all vocal techniques into a list of seven categor
ies, from which I pick one per week to focus on. The list is: 1. Thinking 2. Posture 3. Breathing 4. Phonation 5. Resonance 6. Articulation and 7. Communication.

Once students understand what they are doing and how to control it, they will be able to sing whatever style song they would like. It is my philosophy that good singing should never be an accident.
