Andrei P.

Matawan, NJ

About Andrei

Teaching music is my passion, it is more than just a career. I value each student and the time I have with them; helping them to explore the world of music. Hopefully after each lesson, my students walk away with a deeper understanding of music theory and have enjoyed their time. I am available to teach Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Bass, Upright Bass, Banjo, Ukulele, Mandolin, Piano, and beginner Drums.

I am a husband and father. I teach all age ranges.

*** Lesson Details ***
I approach each lesson differently because every student is unique. During the initial
lesson I will begin to assess the student's ability, determine the best teaching technique for them, and setup a practicing at home guideline. My job is to help the student reach their individual goals and support them along the way. I feel every student deserves to learn to read music and I will concentrate on this with them.

Lessons are taught in my personal music studio; it is a laid-back, family friendly environment. There may be specific books and supplies I recommend purchasing (these will enhance the success of a budding musician). I will most likely also hand out sheet music of songs to practice and may recommend certain artists within specific genres for the students to listen to and familiarize themselves with.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Classical/Flamenco guitar. I can teach many different styles such as Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc. I am always learning, and am willing to learn so that my students get the best experience possible.

Vincent T.

West Long Branch, NJ

About Vincent

I have taught for 18 years, giving both private and group lessons. I am a professional musician, having played in numerous bands, recorded and played shows. I have taugh all ages, and all elvels, and all styles. I play a number of instruments including piano, guitar, bass, violin, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica, in addition to writing and singing. I took private lessons for over 10 years, and also studied music in both high school and college.

*** Lesson Details ***
A student can expect to be treated with respect, and have a lesson tailored around their abilities, interests, and amount o
f practice time. I make the lessons fun but also informative. I try to get to know my students so that they feel comfortable. I am laid back, but also determined that a student practice well, and learn not only the instrument but music fundamentals as well. I try to show students that learning music is a lifelong pursuit that can provide all types of fun and personal fulfillment, in addition to being a potential career and social outlet. After 3-6 months, the student will be playing songs, good ones, not just scales. They will also have learned basics, such as chords and scales, as well as sight reading.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Basement converted into music studio with instruments, and piano and keyboard. Parents can sit in on lessons. Street parking available.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide all lesson materials, listening examples, and, on occassion, an instrument. I often use my laptop to play songs and tutorials for students (who don't buy records like we did in the old days.) Generally, students must provide instrument.

*** Specialties ***
I tailor my lessons based on three factors: a student's interests, their ability, and their amount of practice time. I do not use a cookie cutter method of teaching because each student is different. I have studied, formally and informally, rock, pop, blues, jazz and classical. My specialties are rock and blues. On occasion, I will use method books, such as the Schirmer books for piano, but only if the student clearly seems to benefiting from them.

Kathleen L.

Keansburg, NJ

About Kathleen

Kathleen Little first decided to make a career in music after listening to the sound track of Spirited Away by composer Joe Hisaishi. Ms. Little, after playing the flute on her own for seven years, began her classical flute education at the age of sixteen with international soloist Jun Kubo. Only a year and a half after Ms. Little began her studies with Jun Kubo, she was accepted into The College of New Jersey for a Bachelors program in Flute Performance where she studied with David DiGiacobbe. While at TCNJ, Kathleen performed her own programs in Mayo Concert Hall, featuring soloistic flute w
orks by composers such as Nielsen, Hoover, and Takemitsu, and was complimented for her stage presence and musicality. She also had the pleasure of performing with the TCNJ Opera, Chamber, and Symphony Orchestras where she played principle flute on established pieces such as Ravel's Bolero and Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet. She went on to perform with the NYU Symphony Orchestra and participate in the NYU Chamber Music program where she has played with a Trio, Quintet, Sextet, and flute ensemble. Kathleen Little has participated in masterclasses with performers such as Trevor Wye, Min Park, Gary Shocker and Bradley Garner. Ms. Little currently runs a teaching studio in NJ where she teaches flute and piano. She has obtained her Bacheloers from The College of New Jersey in flute performance, and her Master of Music degree from NYU, where she studied with Bradley Garner.

Charles is just great....there's no way I could have found a better teacher. Not only does he know everything there is to know about music, he's interested in keeping the lessons and learning interesting and fun. You can tell he really cares about trying to help his students to both progress, learn some theory, but to have fun and build skills they'll use/enjoy for a long time. Really impressive.

Charlie has been giving lessons to my son and is the absolute best! He is passionate about music and brings such energy to each lesson. My son is learning how to play jazz from Charlie after being classically trained. It has opened up a whole new world for him.

It great listening to the lessons because Charlie and my son enjoy music so much.

Charlie is the best piano teacher I have worked with. In just two months of taking lessons with him, I have learned myriads of info about music, theory, jazz, blues, and the classics. Being under his tutelage is truly an honor and he is patient with me even when I don't practice (Although I must say he's a real stickler for that). I would recommend anyone to him with a desire for music whether you are 5 or 55.

Abe O.

Morganville, NJ

About Abe

My experiences in high school, college, & graduate school of studying with several different teachers on various instruments influenced the direction of my life in a profound way. These experiences instilled in me a deep appreciation of music that I believe is an important part of any well-rounded person. Furthermore, taking music lessons exposed me to a way of life that I otherwise would not have considered: a life in music. Young people should be exposed to many different lifestyles, ways of thinking, and professions. That way, they can draw from many sources as they create their own unique
life/career path.
