Hello! I am a professional working drummer with over 20 years of performing and teaching experience. My current band, Eight To The Bar, has been the winner of Best Band Connecticut for the past 5 years straight. We perform internationally in many venues, including festivals, casinos, and concert halls. The repertoire is diverse and challenging, drawing on the traditions of R&B, Swing and Motown.

Lessons with me will be fun and constructive. I gear my lesson plan to your individual needs with a strong focus on fundamental technique, proper grip and stroke as well as helping you find your balance and relaxation behind the kit through posture and ergonomic set- up.

We will be able to explore the techniques of your favorite drummers. Through my wide range of experience I will be able to give you the skills nec
essary to function within your favorite genre of music. At the same time, I may introduce you to some forms of music less familiar to you. You can then use that experience to bring a fresh approach to your chosen style.

The name of the game is time-keeping and time feel. You will be expected to practice with a metronome, but also with recorded tracks. We will record your playing and listen back. This is one of the best ways to improve your playing.

Double bass and/or double pedal also taught as well as left foot clave, Latin percussion, piano, and music theory.

Shawn is great. A very talented drummer. Our son is young, 5, and Shawn had patience letting him explore the drums and learn a simple beat to start his first lesson.

About Aaron
Berklee College of Music graduate, Aaron M., has been teaching students of all ages for over 12 years.
"I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good drummer/pianist, and musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. Over the years I've learned to strike a balance between Reading/Rudiments and Playing/having fun, so as to maintain students interests and growth."

My boys, ages 7 & 5, started piano lessons with Aaron a year ago. He has taught them technique & theory all while using songs they boys love. There are days that the boys are not the most cooperative. Aaron is amazingly patient and persistent in getting the boys to do their lessons. I really appreciate and have learned from this patience when it comes to the nightly practicing. I am pleased that the boys have been working with a male teacher and I think it really helps them relate to the music and the lessons. If you are looking for a patient yet knowledgeable piano teacher, I would definitely recommend Aaron.

About Beau
*** Lesson Details ***
I studied music performance at UMass Dartmouth. I have the tools and resources to teach the students what they need to know in order to teach themselves. In lessons, I focus on what the student wants to learn, however for younger students I tend to stick with the methods books for a while.
I am a big fan of applying relevant elements of music theory to the music we're learning: it helps to understand the science behind the music. Noticing patterns and understanding common terminology will make it easier to learn pieces and play with other musicians.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Kimball baby grand piano.
I can teach at my house in Attleboro as well as come to you.

Beau is patient and kind, and yet persistent and focused with my 8 year old daughter. She has major anxiety issues and is often both frightened by new people and hyper sensitive to correction. Beau navigates her through her fears and shares his love of the music. She has had half a dozen lessons now, and we fully intend to continue lessons with Beau.

About Stan
Hi! I am a private music instructor offering lessons both in-studio and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music (Summa cum Laude) and I have over 35 years' full-time experience as an instructor. I also have nearly four decades of experience as a professional jazz, rock, and theater musician. My experience has taken me from nightclubs to concert stages, as well as television, radio, and recording studios. Finally, I am a published author with several titles dedicated to helping musicians becoming the best they can be.

**** MY TEACHING STYLE ****

My teaching style is often referred to as laid-back, gentle, informative, and very supportive. My focus is on enrichment, encouragement, and results. I don't work with “one-size-fits-all” methods. Each lesson is customized to make the most of each student's own
unique abilities, limitations, preferences, and interests. Whether students prefer, or do better, with traditional materials, playing/singing along with their favorite recordings, improvisation, or anything in between, I am more than happy to accommodate and bring out each student’s best!

I teach real music -- students begin playing music they love almost from day-one. For example, many of my piano and guitar students pride themselves on learning to play every song on Beatles One ... playing right along with the CD! Reading, playing by ear, improvisation (jamming), singing while you play ... there are so many ways to play and avenues to explore in music.

**** MY STUDIO ****

My studio is spacious (very spacious – no cubicles here!), well-appointed, and very quiet. Unlike music stores and multi-lesson facilities, there are no other lessons on the premises, no drummer going crazy on the other side of the wall. This means students can concentrate better and learn faster. There is also plenty of room for parents and siblings who may wish to sit in on lessons.

**** STYLES / GENRES ****

I believe that students make the most progress learning music they love and I am very happy to teach every student the style of music he or she loves most.

My most requested genres are: pop, rock, country, blues, film/television, classic rock, jazz, and classical. Some students arrive knowing exactly what they want, but most are happy to explore various styles that interest them in search of the perfect fit. It is not at all uncommon for a student to spend part of their lesson polishing up a Beethoven piece or jazz standard, then finish up playing the chords to “Hotel California” along with the CD. Another student might start off their lesson learning a Taylor Swift hit, then move over to doing some blues improvisation. Variety is a wonderful thing and it is highly encouraged.

**** MY STUDENTS ****

Over the years, I have taught students from four years old to eighty-somethings. I’ve taught absolute beginners (most of my students start from square-one), hobbyists, seasoned professionals, even a Grammy nominee and a Grammy winner! Many of my young students have gone on to perform in school bands / jazz bands and/or professionally. In all cases, they acquire a skill that will last for a lifetime and provide joy, enrichment, and satisfaction.

Do you have a song or two in your heart. Contact me today and I will help you reach your musical goals no matter what they may be!

About John
I have adopted the philosopher Bennett Reimer’s beliefs. He believed in music for music sake. In other words: Music was an art-form to be admired and not always performance based. Reimer believed in music literacy and wanted every child to understand and know how to read basic music notation. Music is also an interpersonal and multicultural art-form designed to excite and engage all cultures. If you can link any and all subjects to music, you will be able to grasp more students. Knowing how sound waves are made and the history of the piano, is just as important as knowing and demonstrating singing or playing instruments. My own philosophy on performance is, “Not only is it necessary, it is a necessity.”

John truly went above and beyond to help me prepare for my auditions. He is the reason I have been offered so many roles. John is the Swiss army knife of instructors. He is an all-in-one coach with a fully decked out studio that I was also able to take advantage of. Every standing ovation I have received is thanks to mister John Jannis. If you're not using John for whatever musical needs you have, you're making a foolish mistake.

Brian is so excited to be beginning this part of his journey to offer private coaching!!! Graduating with a BA in Communications Arts with a concentration in Theatre from Bridgewater State University in 1991, Brian launched into professional acting. It was there that he discovered his passion for education. He was hired full-time and remained for the next 4 years. Brian Hickey was my high school drama instructor for 4 years and if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be pursing a theatre career. His training made me a more confident actress, and his faith in me made me a more confident person. He taught me to lend myself to the story, to be a generous actress and to make bold choices. I highly recommend this incredible teacher!

Hi there!

I am a supportive and encouraging teacher willing to teach all ages and abilities. It is my firm belief that music is for everyone.

I am currently pursuing my M.M. from Longy School of Music. I completed my undergraduate work at Rhode Island College, where I studied oboe and bassoon privately. I am currently on the private lesson roster for two public schools in the area, and teach both double-reeded instruments. I have successfully helped young students prepare for and audition into district level ensembles.

I have reed-making experience and can assist students with finicky reeds, to help ease the most frustrating part about playing oboe & bassoon.

I'm looking forward to working with you!

About Eva
Eva found new life and beauty through musical study, and she hopes to help others do the same. Her classical training has helped her perform opera, musical numbers, jazz, choral music, contemporary and traditional church music, and classical solo repertoire. Eva is most interested in teaching students how to teach themselves and develop their own sense of musicality.

Eva taught voice/piano for 3 years in Durham, NC where she worked as a Choral Scholar and sang with the Durham Choral Society. During this time, she also completed a Masters degree in theology at Duke.

The feedback from my former students is unanimous: I provide a comfortable, safe space for my students to grow in their awareness of themselves and their instrument. My students gain confidence as they polish their technique, and I have coached several high school stude
nts through the audition process and on to their undergraduate music program. They report being extremely well prepared, impressing their new voices teachers with their solid technical foundation and basic repertoire knowledge. I also have experience with adult students who have said their lessons are the best part of their week, a stress reliever, and the best thing they have done for themselves.

Eva and her family recently relocated to the Northeast so her husband could pursue a Ph.D. in theological ethics at Boston College. Eva now sings with the Marsh Chapel Choir at Boston University and teaches near Cumberland, RI.
