Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.

I've been playing the flute for over 25 years and teaching for 15. I teach beginning to advanced - age 5 to 99!
Kimberly was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. After starting the flute and piano at the age of 8, she knew she had found something she loved and wanted in her life forever. At age 12, she added the saxophone and clarinet to her repertoire of instruments. After completing her Bachelors degree in Flute Performance at the University of Arizona she moved to Los Angeles to work on her Masters degree at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). There was where she fell in love with contemporary music and has devoted her life to sharing her love for it with others. After completing her Masters degree in Flute Performance at CalArts, she went on to pursue a Doctorate in Contemporary Flute Performance at the University of California, San Diego. Kimberly now resides in Los Angeles and plays with many groups throughout the city.

gside a song you love or reading through a classical concerto, I’ll help prepare you or your child to tackle a wide variety of styles, without missing out on any of the basics that turn good players into phenomenal musicians. We all know it’s not about being the best. It’s about having fun, and playing music well is definitely fun. Music lessons include:
1. Building a really strong foundation so it's easy to interpret or understand any part, and to play it with the right amount of practice.
2. Learning to sight-read music, so you can play it well as soon as possible.
3. Learning how to improvise (make-up) music, learn music by ear, and to understand and create chords, which lets you play music in different ways.
4. Play different styles from classical to jazz to popular music.
5. Learning how to practice efficiently so you can learn music as fast as possible.
6. Composing our own original music.
Practice makes perfect! Learning an instrument helps build self-confidence and discipline. If your child’s bored, distracted, or just needs a constructive hobby, music is a great place to get them interested in something that will help them feel better about themselves, and the effects will be felt across everything else they do, through better studying habits to a more patient, diligent work ethic.
It’s also relaxing! Stressed about work? Need an escape? Everybody has the power to learn an instrument. Seriously, there’s no such thing as “talent.” Just start lessons and get practicing! It really is that simple, and I’ll guide you through every step of the way.
I have a diverse background teaching students of all ages, from 3-year-olds to retirees alike, customizing what we learn to the individual student. We’ll learn how to read music just as easily as you read words; improvise and compose music of our own; and feel good playing any style: classical, jazz, rock, and all. My experience as a working musician in films, musical theater, and pop music, as well as classical concert music, allows me to appreciate and teach styles that many other instructors overlook, and I know full well that learning an instrument is not about becoming a professional; it’s about being able to connect to others or oneself through music… and also to just have fun! There’s no need to learn music we don’t like! It’s not about stuffing Beethoven into your kids’ ears… we just want to make music, be that Beethoven or Billy Joel.
Learning an instrument is one of those few skills that will genuinely last you your whole life. I don’t want to sugarcoat it: it takes time to learn an instrument. It takes practice, and sometimes it’s frustrating. But the results are well worth it.

“What’s that chord?” “Why does all my music sound the same?” “How do I fix this voicing?” “I just can’t get it out of my head!” …sound familiar? You’ve probably hit a rut. Or maybe you’re just starting out. Either way, you want your music to sound new, exciting, and to come out exactly how you hear it in your head. Yes… you CAN learn to compose music, you CAN learn to be more creative, and you CAN learn to share your sound with the world.
Film music, classical, jazz… whatever your interest, all music comes from the same place, and by learning a handful of basic concepts, you can apply these to whatever style you’re trying to write. Learning to emulate another musician involves knowing what they’re doing. Learning to create a groundbreaking sound requires that you know what’s already been done, and how to achieve it. Step by step, we’ll work our way there.
We’ll learn how to write cool, interesting chord progressions, how to write beautiful melodies, and how to voice chords. We’ll learn how to control the mood of our music, from making it sound relaxed to adding tension wherever we want. Maybe you’re trying to write for an orchestra, or just a small band. By learning the basics, you can then easily break away from what’s been done and come up with something truly new… the goal of any aspiring composer!
The first lesson was successful. My particular background in piano is unique, and my needs are atypical as well. I thought Thomas assessed my abilities, lack of abilities, and goals well and quickly. He started me on a different perspective on looking at music (reading the staff) that seems very helpful. I'm encouraged.

Born in Santuario, Risaralda, Colombia in 1990. Flutist, Andres received his B.Mus. Education. from Technological University of Pereira-Colombia. Co-founder of Cultural and Environmental Festival “In the Shadow of Tatamá” creator and coordinator of the International Meeting of Flutists “El Flautín del Bosque” in Colombia, Chavez is a teacher of music and is in the process of researching and composing music for flute solo using a soundscape focused on birds in the Andean region.
From 2010 to 2012, Andres participated as a flutist in the orchestra of the “International Festival of Flutists in the Center of the World” Quito-Ecuador. In 2013, he was invited to participate in the “Flute Orchestra of the Americas” Conducted by Angeleita Floyd at the 41st annual National Flute Association Convention held in New Orleans.
Andres has participated
in several master classes with Angeleita Floyd, Sheryl Cohen, Jean Louis Beaumadier, Sammi Junnonen, Celso Woltzenlogel, Martha Councell and Michel Bellavance; and was Principal flutist of the Technological University Symphony Orchestra and the UTP Wind Symphony Band-Colombia 2010 through 2015.
Additionally, a principal flutist with the Chamber Orchestra of Southeastern Louisiana University in the Spring Season 2016 and principal flute assistant in Spring Season 2017. Andrés earned his Master in Music Performance from Southeastern Louisiana University where he got a full Scholarship and worked as a GA in the Department of The Performing Arts.
Mandy S. is an avid performer and teacher of flute currently residing in Tampa, Florida. She is an adjunct instructor of flute at Hillsborough Community College in Ybor City, Florida and is a highly sought after middle and high school flute clinician in the Tampa bay area. Additionally, a strong enthusiasm for flute instruction has led Mandy to maintain a private flute studio with students of all ages, offering both in-person and virtual lessons. She has taught numerous masterclasses in Florida and North Carolina. Her students have proved numerous successes in festivals, honor bands, and competitions at the county, district, and state levels as well as college auditions. Furthermore, her passion for music education has sparked particular interest in researching and creating pedagogical and instructional techniques to assist the developing flutist.

With more than four decades of teaching and performing experience in flute, piccolo and mixed instrumental ensembles, students of all ages will gain a solid head start and a strong competitive edge. Effective practice routines are introduced along with a desire to learn , create, achieve and succeed. Most of my students hold top positions in their school bands and other musical settings. Sessions are customized according to individual needs and skill level. Troubleshooting problems , tone development and college entrance preparation are but a few of my fields of expertise.
Small groups of mixed instrumentation (Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Acoustic Guitar, Harp, Keyboards and more) are also offered. This develops sight reading ability, balance and ear training. Some of my students have become music educators from elementary school through college; one is a Rhodes Scholar in music; several have performed in Carnegie Recital Hall; another has been the Principal Flautist in the Stuttgart Orchestra, Germany; and one was nominated for a Grammy Award. Megan Williams has been an instrumental music teacher for the past 15 years. She holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education from the University of Georgia where she graduated with Distinction in 2006, and again in 2013. Since becoming an instrumental teacher, Mrs. Williams has had students consistently perform with the Georgia All State Bands, District Bands, Governor's Honors program, as well as national honor ensembles. Her students have gone on to study music at Indiana University, Berklee College of Music, Northwestern University, and many other established collegiate music programs.
