Champion Middle School

Champion Middle School is an inner city school in the largest and most diverse school district on Ohio. Currently, I serve as the lead choir director and assistant band director for the school. I am responsible for teaching grades 6-8 in accordance with the Ohio state music standards. Students in the Champion music department consistently learn and perform music at and above grade level. We put on multiple concerts each year and students perform at various locales around the city and state.

Proximity Learning

During my time with Proximity learning, I taught general music in one of the most diverse school districts in the county. I worked with approximately 1000 elementary school students attending virtual school. Many of the students had special needs or are medically fragile. In addition to my teaching duties, I also wrote a large portion of the school's music curriculum and mentored a student teacher through his internship. While teaching in this district, I consistently achieved "highly effective" ratings on evaluations.

Milton High School and Avalon Middle School

I completed my student teaching for my bachelor's degree at Milton High School and Avalon Middle School. During the semester I spent at these schools I taught middle school and high school concert bands, high school marching band, music technology, music appreciation, music theory, many private lessons, and sectionals with the students.

In 2012, I began teaching my flute flute student. She was six years old at the time. As a young flutist and teacher myself, this proved to have many challenges. She has become a wonderful young adult and is currently playing flute in her university's band. Ultimately, teaching this young girl is what led me to teach music as a career. During my time at Troy University, I began to tutor local middle and high schoolers on the flute. After graduating, my flute studio continued to grow and I began to teach online lessons. Over the years, I have watched my students achieve wonderful and impressive things and am honored to have been a part of their journeys.

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

The National Flute Association, founded in 1972, is the largest flute organization in the world. Approximately 5,000 members from more than 50 countries join together in person, online, at conventions, informally and in forums, through publications and classrooms, in performance, in friendship and collegiality. Guided by its goals to encourage a higher standard of artistic excellence for the flute, its performers, and its literature, members include leading soloists, orchestral players, jazz and world music performers, teachers, adult amateurs, and students of all ages.

Tau Beta Sigma is a highly respected pre-eminent music organization comprised of over 160 collegiate chapters and more than 3,800 collegiate members with a balanced representation of women and men. Strong leadership thrives throughout our organization and we have a solid financial foundation. We cultivate and sponsor a variety of music education programs for our diverse membership and work closely with collegiate band directors. Our alumni association is an integral part of Tau Beta Sigma, promoting diversity efforts, social networking and assisting members in enhancing their professional leadership and employment possibilities after graduation from college. We are actively engaged in the community through music.

The Alabama Education Association (AEA) is the largest education association in the state of Alabama. The AEA is an advocate organization that leads the movement for excellence in education and is the voice of education professionals in Alabama. Our mission is to promote educational excellence. The Alabama Education Association provides legal assistance, professional development opportunities, great member benefits, and a strong voice for education in the Alabama Legislature. The AEA serves as the advocate for its members and leads in the advancement of equitable and quality public education for Alabama’s diverse population.
