Kareem is a wonderful teacher. He is very present during the lessons and clearly brings a wealth of teaching and playing experience, along with a love of music, to the table. He has an easy manner with students - I really appreciate this as my daughter was hesitant to take private lessons but she is enjoying them very much. Thank you Kareem!

Kareem is superb. Under his tutelage I am certain I will advance quickly from my current skill set. I'm more convinced than ever that I can become a real musician. His assignments require the commitment that I am willing to invest. I hope I will live up to his expectations.

My granddaughter is 6 years old and this is her first professional piano teacher. Kareem is ensuring that she has the basics down before she continues. She enjoys the lessons, and is excited when lesson day comes.

Flute:
A musical instrument in the woodwind group. Unlike woodwind instruments with reeds, a flute is an aerophone or reedless wind instrument that produces its sound from the flow of air across an opening. Starting with the basics we would first learn breathing and fingering techniques, notes, reading, rhythms, and songs. As the student progresses scales, theory and soloing will be taught.

Karen was not prepared for the lesson. She spent 15 minutes trying to send me photos from a beginner Tabla book available on Amazon. She did not own a set of Tabla drums. She ensured me she could teach anything, but could not pronounce the words used for proper Tabla technique, knew no history and could not even teach me to tune. She literally was reading out of the book figuring it out along the way. I lost a lot of trust from this and asked for a full refund for future lessons.

Karen is an incredibly skillful teacher. She is very passionate about music and it easy to be comfortable with her. She shares her training and knowledge very clearly. The vocal exercises seem very unique and holistic for body and voice health. She is very encouraging, caring, and soul-uplifting. I feel like I have a new connection with my voice and all that is connected to using it... as an instrument and the journey is only just starting. 45 minutes went by so fast. I am looking forward to my next lessons.

I am currently an undergrad student at ETSU studying Instrumental Music Education with my primary instrument being saxophone. However, I have taught extremely high performing high school woodwind players for the past year and love finding and exploring the best techniques for each student's learning style. I would love to teach any student from the beginner to low-intermediate level. I can help you find new and appropriate flute literature and improve beginning techniques. I am a passionate musician and educator. I have worked for many years as a private flute instructor on both the modern and baroque flute, gaining experience teaching many age and skill levels. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student, with an emphasis on developing tone, technique, and breathing skills. Students will also be encouraged to think about the music that they play. As a musician, I developed an interest in the field of Historical Performance over the course of my undergraduate degree. In this field, one not only studies the music of past periods, but studies its relevance to the social, political, and cultural circumstances of its time. I believe this puts me in a unique position as a music educator, as I understand the importance of teaching students to connect musical works to their historical contexts. This is a skill that will provide them with a richer understanding of all types of music, including both classical and popular, and give them ...

"Phil is so wonderful. After I retired I wanted to learn to play the flute, so I signed up for 30 minutes. I signed for 30 because you never know if you and the instructor are going to get along. I discovered that while I was in session I did fairly well. But once home alone, I would end up in tears. I decided to go from learning the flute to learning the clarinet. I was afraid I would have to find another teacher, but no. Phil pulled out his clarinet and I have been happy ever since! He has a calm demeanor, never talks down to you, multi-talented and encourages you. I finally had to go from 30 minutes to an hour. I found I would have about 15 minutes of questions on symbols, word meanings, etc.; which only left me 15 minutes of actual music. So this may also be something to think about."

"Ms. Kelly is the best teacher ever! She is so kind, fun, and understanding. I am a busy sophomore in high school with a lot to do, but she always has something fun for me to learn/ play. I like to play more for enjoyment (although she did help me make it to my high school's Symphonic Band) , and I like that Ms. Kelly asks me to my best, but doesn't put pressure on me on things I don't want to do. I'm so happy to have such a nice and talented teacher. She is also super-responsible with sending me lesson notes, as well as keeping up with my schedule. Also, she has a very nice personal relationship to me as a person, not just as a student."

"Michelle is a great music instructor. It is hard to compress so much in an hour but she makes it work. "An engaging and wonderful instructor

I have been extremely fortunate to have had Bonnie McAlvin teaching flute, piccolo and music theory to my older daughter for nine years and flute to my younger daughter for four. She is an enthusiastic and energetic teacher that inspires a great love of musicianship in her students. My older daughter is a first chair flutist in a wind ensemble and plays with a prestigious children's orchestra entirely due to the patient and thorough instruction she has received from Bonnie. It is a great blessing to have musically talented children but an even bigger blessing to have an instructor who can give them the skills and encouragement to achieve excellence. My older daughter is working towards attending a conservatory for college and the younger daughter fully expects to have music be part of her education going forward. This is entirely due to Bonnie's influence and guidance. We could not be more pleased. My girls love their lessons with Bonnie and I cannot recommend her highly enough."

She introduced him to the International Music a camp that is held at The Peace Gardens during the summer. Ms. Oster was the most positive influence on him to date.
