About Geoff
I am a professional musician with a career spanning 40 years (touring and studio work), and 30 years teaching music.

What do you want to learn? How far you go is up to you!

*** Lesson Details ***
BEGINNING students start with the fundamentals, what you must know in order to begin playing songs, all the right ingredients to create a solid foundation. You will be encouraged to study and to venture into the unknown, using what you're learning as a springboard to discover new things.

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED players will be assessed on knowledge and abilities; areas of struggle and what is desired to be learned. Within a couple weeks, you will reap the benefits with new ideas bubbling to the surface moving you closer to your goals, with emphasis that short term goals are important as well.

Everyone learns at a different pace. But
with patience and persistence, if you do the work, there will be results that can be measured, and you will achieve success!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide an amplifier for guitar and bass students, and have a piano for piano students.

*** Specialties ***
Having played many styles over the years, I am able to play in most of the popular forms. All music is based on the same fundamental things. It's how they are used that defines a given style.

I've been taking lessons with Michael for over a year now, and it is definitely a highlight of my week! Michael was curious as to why I wanted to play the clarinet and has subsequently brought me books with Klezmer, Classical Duets, Jazz and Tango music. I had taken classical lessons for many years, but I can honestly say that I progressed so much more with Michael. He is fun to work with, and always finds the places where I have progressed. He is very skilled at finding new challenges to explore and does so in a most supportive way. Can't recommend him highly enough!

I love to help anyone who has been told they're not able to play guitar, has quit out of frustration, or been told they're too old or too young to play.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson is customized to your learning style and different for everyone depending on what you want to learn. Most of my students like to learn from scratch which would include the following:
In the first 3 lessons you will learn basic guitar fundamentals, basic 1-4-5 song progressions (the stuff that 85% of all music we listen to is made up of), left hand / right hand coordination, picking techniques, how to strum, mute, & play notes on the guitar.

We can play as a band too. When you are ready, I love to bring out the drum or backing tracks to your favorite artists songs while you play guitar and I play what your not, giving you the feel of a live group
situation that can make learning at your lesson more fun.

Genres include Acoustic, Blues, Country, R&B, Funk, Latin, Jazz, Rock, Pop and more.

My Line 6 Spider Jam will take any wave file and speed up or slow down the tempo and lower or higher the key to your preference.

Tim did a great job of explaining the lessons and provided valuable information about reading music. Unfortunately, at the time I started, I also had a newborn making it very hard to stay on track with practicing. Now that my daughter is older, I have more time to practice, and look forward to taking lessons soon.

About Emily
Emily has been teaching piano for over 35 years and she has loved every minute of it. She studied with Julliard Pedagogue Grace Erickson who enjoyed a reputation for producing prize winning students. One of her favorite solo recital performances was dedicated to Grace where she performed Hochzeitstag auf Troldhaugen by Edward Grieg on a beautiful Steinway grand. And she always makes sure than her students also have the opportunity to perform on wonderful instruments as well! Emily also studied with the renowned Debra O'Dell, Gonzaga University Faculty Emeritus, studying for her Degree in Piano Performance at North Idaho College.

Emily's former students include successful professional musicians: toured internationally as a musician, training to be a Church Organist, professional musician that has performed in Symphonies, profession
al musician doing corporate events and weddings, music educators, composers, just to name a few, along with many other past students that she loves to keep in touch with from over the years.

Just as her teachers instilled in her, Emily works with her piano students intensely with technique while at the same time teaching them to believe in themselves and to let emotions show in the music as it is played. Classical music interpretation skills and musical tone are an important aspect of her teaching style.

Whether a little child having fun at the piano, a group music class, a teenager that performs with a Youth Symphony, a student auditioning for a scholarship, a student preparing to be a College Music Major or an Adult Beginner, Emily is an amazing treasure to be found.

Emily comes from a large entertainment family who she has collaborated with over the years, including an Uncle who was in Frank Sinatra's Orchestra, another Uncle who was the voice of Fred Flinstone, Opera singers, Movie Director, Symphony Orchestra musician, actors and actresses, dancers and choreographers, composers, and even a silent film actress. Her grandmother gave up singing Opera at the Met to have a family because in those days you did not do both, you had to choose. Her own Mother performed Debussy, Beethoven, Scarlotti and much more on the piano. It is no wonder that Emily is "The go-to music educator and piano teacher with a reputation for her own playing and for producing outstanding piano students". Former Music Faculty at Living Preschool.

My 9-year old son recently started taking lessons with Adam. I had to find a new instructor after his previous instructor move out of the area. I'm really happy that we found Adam. He's a great guy and as an instructor he's very patient and brings a plan to each lesson. He splits the lesson among exercises to build limb independence, practice with metronome to develop consistent timing, and playing along songs (picked with input from my son). Adam also makes it easy to schedule lessons based on our needs and is very responsive via email and phone/text.

I hadn't had a music lesson in about 35 years, so I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I had bought a drum set for kicks and was screwing around a bit but hadn't really focused on much of anything and was pretty much treading water. Incremental improvement but nothing to write home about.

I've found that Adam is ready to meet you at your level and he has got me working on some basics (a reminder of just how sloppy my playing was/is) and I (think) I'm improving pretty rapidly and am starting to recognize things I hadn't noticed before. If there's an issue, it has been my erratic practice schedule. He has also been really flexible with respect to schedule, lesson length etc. - important for someone like myself who is works and has kids with their own busy schedules.

I'm completely new to the drums and decided to do a trial lesson with Adam several months ago. The lessons are fun and informative, and I have improved so much since I started lessons with Adam. He does a great job of starting good drumming habits, and building off of basics so that you can be a well-rounded drummer. He is a great teacher, combining his expertise with what you as a student want to learn so that it's fun and interesting. Highly recommended for both beginners and drummers with experience looking to improve!

I went from a shy, insecure and depressed teen with social anxiety, to being happy and confident through improvisation, freestyling and songwriting. With now over 20 years of performing and writing songs...

I would love to share the joy and transformation of music with you. I am the top rap, and songwriting teacher on Udemy. I also have a yt channel called "How To Freestyle Rap" with over 10,000 subscribers where I share songwriting tips and how to improve your freestyle rap skills to be a better songwriter.

In my lessons I will take you through a 3 part proven system to learn how to write and perform your own songs.

1st. You will start with learning to improvise lyrics so you can easily come up with your own lyrics for songs.

2nd. We will work on delivery and pro level flow so you are proud of how you perform your songs and lyrics
.

3rd. We will get into advanced songwriting skills to help you organize your lyrics so you are writing high quality lyrics every time.

Imagine waking up tomorrow with the ability to easily improvise your own lyrics over any beat or instrumental music.

This is all possible with my training.

The great thing about learning songwriting with these 3 steps is you will learn a lot faster. In fact most students get comfortable improvising their own lyrics on the first day.

I look forward to working with you or your student.
