There is a potential in every person to be truly great at any one thing. All it takes is hard work and honest determination, with determination being the most important. Because where determination comes, hard work follows naturally.
I hope to inspire my students to really love making music and being creative with their instruments. I can give my students all the information in the world and tips on how to improve at violin playing, but in the end it will not matter if the student has no desire to improve. And that is why I love to teach- inspiring students to love what they do!

I've been teaching Voice since 2005. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to understand how the voice works and how to control your breathing and volume. And as time goes on you'll be able to sing the songs that you love with more control and understanding of how to sing the way you want to. I specialize in being able to sing well while being able to preform the song as you would on stage. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

My major instrument in college was clarinet, but I am a woodwind specialist, having performance experience on flute, clarinet, and saxophone. I have a particular affinity for late beginners, and have had some success in helping these students catch up to their peers. All of my woodwind students use the Rubank method books in addition to any method books they may already be using in their band classes. I also introduce appropriate literature and studies specific to each instrument once the basics have been mastered. I encourage all of my woodwind students to participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble contest and to audition for OMEA District and State Honor Bands.

Unfortunately the opportunity to nurture any of that genetic musical talent passed me by, but it absolutely lives within him.
Janis has been remarkably subtle at freeing the music within my son's heart.
This is not only a gift for me, and our family, but it's a lifetime of unending self-expression for him.
I cannot recommend Janis highly enough."

Vincent is one of the top Jazz Trumpeter’s in the world. He is a virtuoso Jazz soloist and a very strong lead Trumpeter as well. He is also well versed in the world of classical music. Vincent toured worldwide with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, Buddy Rich Big Band, and Horace Silver. Vincent is currently touring with Renaissance (a progressive rock band), and frequently plays in horn sections for a multitude of rock bands. He is one of the most consistent and reliable musicians I’ve ever known.
Vincent is a very reputable musician with a great sense of humor. He plays with so many different bands and always bringing his incredible playing level to every gig. Vincent has recorded and produced several of his own CDs as a leader, and has performed on many recordings for several decades. With this vast background Vincent, he is able to teach various genres (jazz improvisation, rock, classical, and Brazilian concepts).
I strongly recommend Vincent as an instructor for “Take Lessons”. Don’t miss this opportunity to study with this incredible musician!

Music theory may not be the most glamorous part of being a singer -- after all, no one's analyzing Brahms's first symphony at that summer music festival in town, and …
