There is a potential in every person to be truly great at any one thing. All it takes is hard work and honest determination, with determination being the most important. Because where determination comes, hard work follows naturally.
I hope to inspire my students to really love making music and being creative with their instruments. I can give my students all the information in the world and tips on how to improve at violin playing, but in the end it will not matter if the student has no desire to improve. And that is why I love to teach- inspiring students to love what they do!

About Abigail

And as time goes on you'll be able to sing the songs that you love with more control and understanding of how to sing the way you want to. My major instrument in college was clarinet, but I am a woodwind specialist, having performance experience on flute, clarinet, and saxophone. I have a particular affinity for late beginners, and have had some success in helping these students catch up to their peers. All of my woodwind students use the Rubank method books in addition to any method books they may already be using in their band classes. I also introduce appropriate literature and studies specific to each instrument once the basics have been mastered. I encourage all of my woodwind students to participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble contest and to audition for OMEA District and State Honor Bands.

"My son is the legacy of both a world-famous composer Grandfather and of a Great Uncle widely known as a musical genius.
Unfortunately the opportunity to nurture any of that genetic musical talent passed me by, but it absolutely lives within him.
Janis has been remarkably subtle at freeing the music within my son's heart.
This is not only a gift for me, and our family, but it's a lifetime of unending self-expression for him.
I cannot recommend Janis highly enough."

"Adam did a great job teaching me the basics of the keyboard. I have no music background and have never been taught to play an instrument. I wanted to learn 1 song for my wedding. Adam learned the song and wrote the notes for me so I could easily learn them. He was flexible with scheduling and always remembered where we left off even if there were several months between lessons (due to my schedule). He was very patient even when I struggled. I would recommend Adam for keyboard/piano lessons."

"With over 25 years of experience as an elementary school band director, Vincent works well with students of all ages from beginners to professional levels. I studied Jazz improv with Vincent for many years. He has a vast knowledge of music theory (melodic and harmonic concepts).

Vincent is one of the top Jazz Trumpeter’s in the world. He is a virtuoso Jazz soloist and a very strong lead Trumpeter as well. He is also well versed in the world of classical music. Vincent toured worldwide with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, Buddy Rich Big Band, and Horace Silver. Vincent is currently touring with Renaissance (a progressive rock band), and frequently plays in horn sections for a multitude of rock bands. He is one of the most consistent and reliable musicians I’ve ever known.

Vincent is a very reputable musician with a great sense of humor. He plays with so many different bands and always bringing his incredible playing level to every gig. Vincent has recorded and produced several of his own CDs as a leader, and has performed on many recordings for several decades. With this vast background Vincent, he is able to teach various genres (jazz improvisation, rock, classical, and Brazilian concepts).

I strongly recommend Vincent as an instructor for “Take Lessons”. Don’t miss this opportunity to study with this incredible musician!

"Chris is a great teacher! He's fun, patient, and incredibly passionate about guitar. Before studying with Chris, I was mostly self-taught, floundering for years, and not making a lot of progress. In the four months that I've been studying with him, we've touched on the blues, Motown soul, neo-soul, funk, rock, and country—all the while learning core concepts that help go beyond just memorizing songs. With every lesson, I'm feeling more comfortable and confident with the guitar. I would recommend Chris to anyone!"

"My 16-year old daughter just had her first online lesson with Vandi (to prepare for a vocal audition and a monologue audition as part of a modeling opportunity). Vandi was amazing in so many ways! She asked all the right questions to figure out and understand what my daughter was preparing for and what my daughter needed to accomplish from lessons. She immediately impressed me with her insight of "the industry" and of the process my daughter is undergoing to try to break into that industry. After talking with Vandi, it was so very apparent to me that she has the personal experience and expertise to help my daughter. Vandi was very adept at figuring out my daughter's personality, likes, strengths and weaknesses. From the plethora of songs and monologues Vandi had at her fingertips, after talking/singing with my daughter, together they arrived at suitable options and narrowed it down to a few songs and monologues, which my daughter now gets to select her audition pieces from. My daughter has only had one year of choir in school and was nervous about taking private vocal lessons; however, she enjoyed her first lesson with Vandi so much, she is no longer nervous and looks forward to more lessons...a true testament to Vandi's kindness and teaching abilities! I'm totally impressed by Vandi, can't imagine any other teacher could be better, and so glad we chose her to help our daughter prepare for auditions."

5 Ways Learning Music Theory Can Make You a Better Singer

Do you love to sing? We'll take a wild guess and say it wasn't chord progressions and minor scales that caught your interest. But did you know reading music and understanding the theory behind it can actually help you as you learn how to sing? Find out more in this guest post by St. Augustine, FL voice teacher Heather L.   Music theory may not be the most glamorous part of being a singer -- after all, no one's analyzing Brahms's first symphony at that summer music festival in town, and …
