Jeffrey P.

Bedford, NY 10506

About Jeffrey

I provide lessons in your home and specialize with students ages 4-10 who are just starting out. My lessons are technical but also fun. My belief as that the sooner I can get your child playing songs he or she likes for family and friends, the faster your child will become “hooked”.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a piano. There are many digital pianos available at all price ranges that are sufficient to get started.

Soccer and T-ball are great but knowledge and enjoyment of music will last a lifetime.

I have been taking online trumpet lessons with Vinnie for years now. I have also studied in person with Vinnie, and played in Vinnie's band. I feel so lucky to be able to take lessons from one of the best trumpet players in the world. Vinnie has helped me progress in many areas including jazz improvisation. Vinnie has a warm personality and is very patient. In my 50 years of playing trumpet, Vinnie is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Vinnie plays so well, and performs in so many places all over the world, I can't even begin to describe his personal talent. However, on a personal level, he is easy to relate to and study with. I have known Vinnie for 35 years in the world of music. He is a colleague that I hold in the highest regard. I have had the great pleasure of performing alongside him in a number of different situations. As a sideman we have performed music on an extremely high level, everything from Jazz Standards, originals, to Weather Report etc. Vinnie's abilities as trumpeter and educator are tremendous, world class all across the board. He is great reader and his improvisation is of the highest order, creative, inventive, with thematic development and harmonic depth in the single line.

I have known, performed with, and taught with Vincent for over thirty years. I am a professional trombonist and the Performing Arts Chair at Saddle River Day School. I ran an Arts-In-Education band that performed big band jazz at schools in the NYC area for over twelve years, and Vincent was a band member. Vincent is one of the world's greatest trumpet players and jazz improvisers, and he is an excellent communicator. I have watched Vincent teach countless times, and he loves working with young people and passing along his craft and experience. He has a very warm personality and a great sense of humor. I perform regularly with Vincent in a variety of world-class ensembles, and just standing next to him on the band-stand is like taking a lesson!

"Jesse is a great instructor. I'm an adult who had no experience with music before. He is very patient and finds new ways to explain concepts I don't und

"My story is probably a little more unusual than most here. While I do think it would be cool to learn to drum so I could become a rock star, at 52 I'm a
little old for that. Actually, my goal is to become a Civil War drummer! When I came on here looking for a teacher, several responded -- but only Michael responded with a keen interest in what I was looking for. He even offered to do research on period drumming styles and period music so that he could tailor his approach to my needs. I've had several lessons at his home now and can say confidently that he has definitely got me on my way. He is also very flexible with his scheduling, which is very important with my sometimes hectic itinerary. If you are looking for a good guy and a great instructor, Michael should get your consideration."

The 10 Best Songs for Sight Singing Practice

By Suzy S.

Sight singing practice is an excellent way to round out your skills as a vocalist. Here, Saint Augustine, FL teacher Heather L. shares the 10 best songs to get started with... Attending my alma mater, Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, was a lot like going to sight singing boot camp. Every student who attends, despite his or her major or instrument, must sing for four years in the college's professional choirs. Though many organists and pianists are annoyed at first, th …
