I have been lucky enough to have been trained by some of the world's most renowned flute performers and teachers, and love to pass on their and my own knowledge to new generations of flute players. I will help bring out the best in every flutist, from a raw beginner, to the most advanced music major student seeking to improve their skills.

Things you can expect to learn in Flute lessons are:

Posture
Breathing Techniques
Phrasing and Musicality
Ear Training
Audition Preparation
Stage Presence and Performance
Music Theory
Music History

Ages 4 and up.
20 minute lessons are for children aged 5 and younger only, please.

About Hallie

Having grown up in a musical family with her mother a professional violinist, Hallie has been exposed to the joys of music since childhood. She learned how to play Suzuki piano at the age of three, and later percussion and string instruments from when I was six years old, and has playing and making the world more beautiful ever since, first attending Interlochen Arts Academy, then later went to Prague Conservatory and Czech Budweiss Conservatory. She has played professionally with the Prague Film Orchestra, and even more recently has been a teacher for the Flutes and Strings classes at Unison World School in Dehradun, India.

Currently Hallie is the teacher for the strings program at Sunlake Academy of Math and Science, a teacher for her own private studio based in Tampa, FL, as well as a freelance musician.

*** Lesson Details ***

My approach to teaching varies with the age level of each student. With younger students, imitation is often one of the best methods of learning and I prefer the Suzuki method for students up to age 8, especially with strings. For older children and adults, learning music notation and basic music theory for a full understanding of musical language are more important to get them to the level where they can learn any music that they want to play for fun. For students who wish to excel in their school band, a more practical approach with technique specific warm-ups and exercises seems to be the best in general.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in the living room which includes music stands, sheet music, whiteboard, video recording equipment and microphone, and seating for parents/students. No pets. Parking in driveway. Siblings are welcome.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide metronome, and tools for minor instrument repair. Students should provide their own music stands and sheet music.

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki method, Hrimaly, Taffanel et Gaubert, Patricia George

I'll get right to the point. Paul's personality made it extremely easy for me not only to be comfortable but to feel really appreciated. I was fearful that Paul may feel like, "oh great another person who THINKS he has something but can't sing a lick!" I experienced the exact opposite. Within 15 minutes he located what has been my most frustrating issue. I felt like I was already ahead of the game and we hadn't even started yet! Paul has the rare balance of a sense of humor and still following an agenda to meet my goal. Thanks to Paul I really feel like I can, and WILL reach all my goals. AND enjoy the journey to them!! Can't wait for the next lesson!

Caitlin enjoys teaching students of all ages and ability levels, and has experience teaching students ages 6 through adult, from beginners picking up the flute for the very first time to advanced students. She works to customize her teaching to best suit each individual’s learning style, and aims to give her students the tools they need to achieve success in their own musical goals. In addition to teaching standard classical material, I love to guide my students into improvising and creating their own music. I have MA in Music Performance and play the flute at the Northwest Florida Symphony, as well as for weddings, funerals, and churches. I have more than 10 years of experience in both performing and teaching the flute. My passion is to see others become amazing flutists and bring beautiful music into this world.

About Yoana

My name is Yoana Hilt and music is my passion. I've been playing since I was 12 years old and truly believe that a life filled with music is a life most enriched. My specialty is flute instruction. Nothing else on earth sounds as good or comes as close to the inspiring tones and uplifting melodies that can be played on it. I hope to instill the love and passion that I have for the flute into my students, help them learn how to improvise with it, and go out into the world and perform with their talents. Let's connect soon!

What a delight it is to have Yoana as a music teacher for both of my children. She has the perfect blend of skill training and musical passion that she passes on to them. They not only are learning how to master the songs with excellent technique, but more importantly, she teaches them how to truly feel and understand the music. She adds in fun and even a little competition (to make tracking practice hours more like a game) and is always smiling and full of joy which makes them look forward to lessons. As a parent, I have full confidence that she is giving her whole heart to my children throughout their weekly sessions. I love how much she pushes and stretches them, all while loving and encouraging them at the same time. We look forward to many more years learning from her.

She takes into account each student's interests and guides and coaches them toward goals they are invested in. She uses a curricula that is classic and gets beautiful results! Yoana is such an amazing cheerleader for her students and her kindness and joy in supporting them is contagious. I had years of serious music study with critical music teachers who made me embarrassed about mistakes and dread my lessons. With Sarah, the learning is fun and I now look forward to every lesson."
