When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

Student Perspective:
Milton has a great personality and welcomes you the minute you walk through the door. He is very kind and patient and has helped me improve a lot in just a matter of a few lessons!! Milton is super funny and easy to work with and he pushes you just enough during rehersal so that you can learn your capabilities. In his lessons you work together (everyones input matters). I have really enjoyed working with Milton and I will continue to do so.
Parent's Perspective:
My daughter is that Type A personality and doesn't believe in doing even her passion unless she has all the knowledge she can acquire in order for her to be comfortable. She self sought out a music teacher that could give her this knowledge. She found the Take Lessons website and then found Milton. She relentlessly inquired for me to please sign her up for singing lessons with him. I was so happy that she did the research herself that our journey began with Milton. Instantly they had a connection and she has grown tremendously vocally in the short amount of time she has been taking lessons with him. She has learned techniques that have expanded her range far beyond what she thought she was capable of acheiving. He is funny, makes her laugh, encourages her not to be afraid and knows just what she needs to push her a little further. He always inquires how she feels about what they are working on and also whether or not there is anything else she would like to focus on as well. They plan together which makes the lessons exactly what she needs. He ignites her passion fro music over and over and over again.
Thanks Milton, You are APPRECIATED!"

I started taking lessons with Ben in January 2014 because I wanted to keep my voice in shape as I hadn't performed in over a year. (Use it or lose it!!!) Our lessons began with broadening my range (as an alto I always fear my upper register). After learning all the wonderful vocal exercises, we move on to repertoire. I brought him various pieces of broadway and secular music. There are a few that we go over just so I can learn specific ways to sing words so that the vowel is perfect and there are others that help me learn more of the Idina Menzel qualities I would like to discover in my own voice. When it came time for auditions, Ben helped me find new ways to perform an old piece that freshened and revived it!
Every lesson I walk away with something new I have learned about my voice and about the art of music itself. Ben's passion for the human voice is evident in his teachings. Many of his reviews state his patience and professionalism and I agree. I feel so confident when I leave his studio! Whether you are looking to take voice lessons for the first time, or you are a seasoned performer, Ben's your guy."
