Singing is my specialty--especially, singing in a relaxed, body-conscious, creative/heartfelt way. Are you longing to develop your own unique voice, and to share it with the world? To sing with more relaxation and freedom? To connect with audiences and to move them emotionally? Then, you've come to the right place.

About Jennifer
I am a professional singer-songwriter and have been teaching lessons fulltime for the last 12 years. I teach students of all ages and levels of experience. My current range of students include: kids with learning/developmental disabilities, teenagers who have starred in school musicals, and performing adult singer-songwriters. Whatever your background or desire, I can help you to cultivate your unique musical potential, and to strengthen your creative voice.

As a professional vocalist and pianist, I have worked freelance, in a variety of settings, over the years--including solo, in wedding bands, small jazz and rock/pop groups and with big bands. I have been singing with the Mood Swings Big Band for 6+ years. During that time, we have performed at the White House, the Chamber of Commerce and in Kennebunkport, Maine (at the Bush e
state).

I also have an extensive professional and personal background in meditation (10 years), astrology (5 years) and healing (particularly Reiki, 4 years). I am very interested in the intersection between a healing/mindfulness-awareness approach and singing/playing piano.

Jennifer is an awesome piano teacher! She works great with children! My 6 year old is very engaged, interested and ready to learn! She leaves each week saying how she cannot wait for her next lesson and she practices a lot at home. I believe this comes from Jennifer's excellence in teaching! I would highly recommend her!

Paul has been a tremendous instructor for me and my journey on learning acoustic guitar. During lessons he has also taught me music theory and explained it simply, and through that I feel like the guitar and music in general has been opened up to me and I now see music more clearly. I highly recommend him as an instructor!

Paul is an amazing teacher and mentor. Today we tackled harmonies while recording and it was so special to me. Paul is dedicated to his craft and his students. He prepares for each lesson, whether vocal or piano, and pushes me further along while reinforcing what we learned previously. He's just the perfect balance of strict and encouraging, always leaving me with a lesson that I had not anticipated and a whole lot of fun. I am so happy I found a teacher as great as Paul, he is truly one of a kind!

During this time breath support is taught, so is diction and memory for the words. I also always ask my students why they have chosen to take singing lessons, so that becomes our goal. I will also give an assignment for the next lesson.

About Marlys
Hello, my name is Marlys Adjevi and I am a recent graduate with a background in music performance. I have been trained in opera, but I am also very comfortable with pop and musical theater. Ani is a wonderful teacher! I have always wanted to learn to play the Piano. But, it was my daughter who first started learning with Ani. It was evident that Ani is a higly skilled pianist. And I saw how much my child enjoyed the lessons, the easy rapport that was established and the wealth of knowledge that Ani brings. Needless to say, I signed up too! My daughter and I love our lessons and look forward to the class each week.

Ani is an amazing instructor. It is clear that she cares very much about her profession. I signed up for voice lessons, and she has been teaching me to read music and play the piano because it all ties together. She is also getting me to a point of independence so that I can practice at home with ease. I just love how peaceful and non-judge-mental she is... I have learned lots and I am very happy I found her :)!

I'm a firm believer that we're all singers. The only difference is the ones of us that take time to learn how to use our instrument, our voice! I base our lessons on my students goals: what they want to learn and accomplish at the end of each lesson/series of lessons, perhaps working towards a performance coming up. I try and go over not only the singing, but the entire performance prep, including vocal health and exercises.

About Livi
Hey all! I'm Livi, a ukulele playing singer, songwriter, and music teacher living in beautiful Portland, OR. Learn more about me in my bio below, and hopefully meet you in person/online soon! XxoO, -Liv

Livi began taking piano lessons at a young age, and found her love for music watching a stage production of "The Sound Of Music" in Hong Kong where she grew up. After receiving her BA for Film & TV, with a concentration in Audio and Composition from SMU in Dallas, TX. This summer, she will be perusing a performance certificate at Berklee School of Music - Valencia, Spain campus.

Livi moved to California and began teaching music and film making, along with writing and performing all over Los Angeles. After falling in love with the Pacific Northwest at a friends wedding on the Willamette River, Livi moved to Portland and continued teach
ing private voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, violin, and cello lessons as well as group classes such as Kindermusik, Drama, Glee, Rock band, and Songwriting at several music schools in Portland and Vancouver, WA. Now, as a member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA), Livi is ready to bring her passion for music and her creative style of teaching to help you find your love for music!

Looking for someone a bit younger and more laid-back to teach your child, with the skills and techniques for a fully-fledged music educator? You got the whole package right here! I have been in private voice lessons, top choirs, and the head of any singing role I've been put into for 7 years. I take pride in my singing ability although it is more classically trained, I meld these classical techniques to match pop genres. Have you ever wondered how Sam Smith can hit those notes without going into full falsetto? I can teach you. I can also teach piano, guitar, and ukelele to accompany yourself.

About Rallen
I work well with kids and adults alike. I've had several family members ask me to teach them a thing or two on guitar or ukelele. For the really enthusiastic ones, they've gone on to become a church director or their band section leader. I have no flashy accolades or labels like being a professional recording artist, however, I am pursuing a degree for Music Education. Performing is not what I'd like to do all my life, it's teaching. But, for me to be able to teach, I need to be able to pay for college. At the moment, I don't have the income to immediately start at UMD.

You would be helping me out immensely and I will do my absolute best to help you learn some new chords or sing a riff or two. Thank you for reading this all the way through. Let's get started!

Why Your Daughter Shouldn’t Sing (ONLY) Taylor Swift Music
Is your daughter begging you for voice lessons, so she can learn to sing just like Taylor Swift? Awesome! But she also shouldn’t be limiting herself to the pop-country crooner. Read on as Nashville teacher Heather E. explains why… Lets get this straight right off the bat - I don’t hate Taylor Swift.  I think she’s a great performer, a great businesswoman, and her early songs (the ones she wrote herself) are pretty good.  If your daughter is looking for a role model, TSwift’s story of stardom wi
