If you want an in depth program which I recommend or if you are a person who wants to learn a few songs that's ok. If you are a newbie there are basics you need: hand position, tuning the banjo and learning a few basic rolls and simple chords. I can teach you Scruggs style, Don Reno style, Bill Keith Melodic Style, Pat Cloud Jazz style or other areas one wants to pursue.
I don't like to teach 1/2 hr lessons as it seems to short a time for a good lesson. If you insist I can do a 1/2hr lesson. I hate to add this, so many people will not practice and they lose interest quickly. I took lessons with Bill Keith every week and he told me if I didn't practice he would know it and cut me back to bi-weekly lessons and if I persisted with no practice he would fire me. He said I don't want to waste my time nor your father's money. It is worth the time to practice even though you can't see the point but suddenly you will reach a plateau where you sound great. By the way I never ...

About THOMAS

I'm patient with my students and my main goal is to have them learn something that will give them pleasure in their life and the possibility of performing later on. If a student wants to go far then I can give him or her more in depth chord theory on the banjo and different scales like Pentatonic,

I teach a "kinesthetic" approach to singing, which I learned studying with Cristi Catt in Boston. Kinesthetic exercises help you open up your voice and use intuitive, familiar body movements to shape your sound, build power, expand your range, and find ease in singing almost any style of music. Beyond vocal technique, we incorporate ear training, theory, and improvising to help you get comfortable with your voice and understand the songs you love in new ways that help you sing them beautifully and remember them forever.

Everyone has a unique and wonderful voice- my job is to help you discover and develop yours.

Shoot me a message and we can get started :)

About Ethan

My musical life started at the piano when I was four. I've spent the last five years helping students understand the sounds that speak to them and bring them into their own music-making. I spent my early years playing piano, then picked up the saxophone, which took me to Berklee College of Music,

Ethan is such a great guy, and he taught me more about singing than I thought I was capable of learning. You're missing out if you haven't studied with him

Ethan is truly an amazing saxophone teacher! I started learning the saxophone on my own but had been plateauing for months. Thanks to Ethan, I learned very useful tips - ranging from music theory to practical advises - and I can now feel myself progressing again. What’s impressed me the most with Ethan are his passion for the music, his dedication to transmitting his love for the saxophone and his desire to find the find the best teaching approach for each of his students.
Matthew
The way I view music and life in general has shifted in the best way possible. Stoked to have been apart of Ethan's lessons and recommend anyone interested in music to do the same. The things I never even begun to understand about music are now commonplace and serve to better my understanding of music as a whole.

I’ve always was a musician but only discovered my voice 10 years ago. I have gone through so many struggles to find my voice and I can help you find yours quicker than I did. I have gone through the wrong path and have had amazing teachers get me out of traps and dead ends and in return I’ve been able to help my students do the same. "For those who are interested in learning piano, and composition, I highly receommend Val. As a insturctor who is very skillful, responsbile, yet has a decency and caring heart. He will adjust to your comfortable level of education with a practical advices and sometimes assignments. Coming from very competetive Russian educational background, he understands a hardship and competetive nature. However, he is one of the few instructors who knows a good balance between a compsure and focused trainning. Having said that, I took a quite short lesson with him due to a limited time, however, I did feel productive and fun with his time. If you are determined to learn, I can tell you he would be the best choice!"
