About Michele Denise
As a professional teaching artist and vocal coach, I have been helping students of all ages and abilities find their voice for over 20 years. My goal is simple: to give you singing lessons that will change your life forever. You can build unshakable confidence and have fun while learning techniques professional singers take onto the stage and into the studio. And, you can have a great time doing it!

About my vocal lessons/coaching:
Most students come into lessons with the same question: "Am I any good? Is there hope for me?" Well, here's the thing... The vast majority of professional vocalists never went to school for singing! Most professional vocalists had family and friends that told them they were talented and that they should pursue singing. Most professional vocalists started out copying the sound of other recording artists
, struggling for years to find their own unique voice.

The KEY difference between professional vocalists and average singers is (9 times out of 10) the presence of an influential teacher/mentor!

The right teacher/mentor pushes you to grow continuously; beyond what you think is possible. The right teacher/mentor has wisdom and information to share from inside the music industry. The right teacher/mentor genuinely cares about you as a person.

I teach so that I can be that life-changing mentor for my students, giving them that missing link for success.

About me:
I grew up in NYC and "cut my teeth" across a variety of genres: rock, jazz, R&B, gospel and choral/classical. You name it; I've sung it. In addition to being a vocal coach, I travel the nation as a musician/performing artist, professional speaker and author. Please take a moment to watch the video clip below.

Unlike most teachers that take on any/all students, I limit my roster to 15 students at any given time. During our first few lessons, I commit to offering you honest and professional feedback about your strengths and weaknesses. I want to help YOU find YOUR own voice. I want to take a look at YOUR goals, YOUR dreams, and figure out what makes you tick.

During lessons, I draw on my dual B.A. degree in vocal performance & music business as well as industry experience. I offer insights on what works and what doesn't as a vocalist, whether you are looking to pursue singing vocationally or just as a hobby.

I can help you:
- Stop feeling nervous
- Develop impeccable technique
- Learn the “ins and outs” of being in the music business
- Assemble a press kit, record a demo and start to get gigs
- Much more!

I would love the opportunity to meet you and hear where you want your singing to take you. Please, get in touch!

Other Notes:

Studio Equipment:
I teach out of my residence-based studio in downtown Minneapolis. It's centrally located with free parking and easy access to skyways and public transportation. Do you work downtown? Consider taking lessons over your lunch break!

I have everything we need for lessons in my studio: instruments, laptop, mics, etc... I will provide you with all audio files and any written materials for our lessons.

Michele took the time to get to know my personal connection to singing and music, so she knew just where to start with me as her student. I appreciated her explanation of vocal anatomy because that type of knowledge helps me figure out how connect with and work with my body, and I also never knew how nice it feels to have someone listen to and hear all the unique qualities of my voice while speaking. I felt like she could "see" my voice, which made me feel a bit exposed, but also trust her to help me overcome vocal challenges and weaknesses in future lessons.

I haven’t even started and I love her. Just from our first introductory phone call I know Michele will be my vocal coach for life. I’ve met enough people throughout my life to recognize immediately when I encounter someone who not only has passion, sophistication, professionalism, and mad skills, but more rarely the ear and mindset of a keen and effective mentor. I can’t wait to begin the journey I’ve always dreamed of...

About Amy
As I child I had an early interest in music, dancing and creative things. I took piano lessons and excelled at my chosen instrument, the flute, in band at school. I continued with my music training at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Education in 1992. I worked for 11 years in my profession in various settings before I took a break to start my family. My experience includes teaching students in classroom general music, choir, band, piano lessons, and school plays/musicals. I spent six years at a private school (grades K-8), three years at a charter elementary school and 2 years at a public elementary school. Also, since graduating in 1992 I have spent a total of 18 years teaching private lessons both at Hovland Conservatory of Music and in my home. Along the way I
further broadened my background by accompanying church choirs and congregations, playing for weddings, and volunteering to lead children’s music time at church.

I love music of all kinds and have a strong belief that everyone should experience the joy and power of it in his or her life. It is very rewarding for me to help students develop their skills as they discover a meaningful way of self-expression using a universal language. Teaching music is something I love to do and I know that fact reflects to my students resulting in an enjoyable experience for them as well.

*** Lesson Details ***
What can a student/parent expect from lessons with me? I can provide my students with a solid foundation of proper technique. This is so very important because you do not ever want to have to unlearn bad habits. I also include appropriate music theory, ear training and improvising for each level. I purposefully pace the lessons to prevent students from feeling frustrated. Instead, I work to generate excitement about the learning process and keep students motivated by their own progress. Furthermore, I am willing to accommodate a student if they have a special interest in a certain musical genre or a personal goal they are working towards. I encourage, but do not require students to take advantage of recital and performance opportunities that I provide.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Large music room: piano, electric keyboard, flute, clarinet, trumpet, music stands.
*** Specialties ***
I have a lot of experience teaching students who are brand new to their instrument. I believe the beginning is a very important time to start building a solid foundation for all future musical growth. I love being able to help my students establish good habits from the beginning and influence the overall direction of a new student’s musical experience.

I love music of all kinds and have fun playing and teaching all the instruments that I listed. However, the two instruments that I have the most training on and have performed on are the piano and the flute. I would be a great teacher for private lessons to help a student excel in band at school or for a high school student preparing for contests or auditions. Also, I am very patient with beginners and would be ideal as a child'€™s first piano teacher or for an adult who has always wanted to play a certain instrument of his or her choice.

I found Zach through 'take lessons' after my daughter had a few years with an intense classical pianist. I want my daughter to have fun and appreciate music and not feel the intense pressure she was feeling with our previous instructor. Zach was the perfect choice. My daughter loves her lessons. Zach does take time off for his professional endevors. Good for him. He has always let us know and connected with us when he returns.

About Mary
I began taking piano lessons on a whim in middle school, but it didn't take long before I realized I was completely in love with music. I enjoy playing and teaching many types of music, from classical to rock to hymns and church music. I learned to play by ear at the same time I learned to sight read, and both approaches have helped me to learn and enjoy the music I play.

I graduated in December 2010 with a BA in Music Performance from North Central University, here in the Twin Cities. I have been teaching and playing piano for the last 9 years. Watching other people learn to play music is one of the greatest rewards I've received.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe music has incredible educational value, but I also believe that it should be enjoyable. Every music student is different and has a different purpose for wantin
g to learn music, and I enjoy working with students to help them achieve their goals.

Being a well-rounded musician has not only helped me in my music career, but it has helped me experience and enjoy many different kinds of music. I expect students to play different types of music with a main focus on one genre. If you want to learn to play classical music only, I teach sightreading, technical skills, and with a little time and practice you or your child can be playing some of the simpler masterworks by the end of the first year. But I also encourage classical pianist to try out a rock song or improvisation.

The same goes for those who are only interested in learning how to play rock music or church music. Being able to sightread is invaluable to a musician, and after a few lessons on chords and ear-training, I like to introduce basic sight-reading.

Developing a love for the instrument you play is just as important as developing the technical skills to play it. I do my best as a teacher to learn what it is that students enjoy most about playing and incorporate that into lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home Studio--New Kawai upright

Lino Lakes--Baldwin upright, good condition, and electric piano

*** Specialties ***
I can play and teach in a variety of genres, from classical to pop to church music. I teach students to sight-read, and I can also teach students to play off a chord chart or by ear if these are things that student expresses an interest in.

I've found that the method books available to piano students are thorough and effective, especially for beginning students of elementary age. I've used different books, including Faber & Faber, Alfred, and Hal Leonard. All of these have strengths and weaknesses, and I like to pick the method depending on the personality of the student.

thy vocal habits. They will learn all aspects needed to become a well rounded singer: diction, interpretation, musicianship, breath support and focus, all of this while having fun! About Amanda
Hi! My name is Amanda and I have been teaching private lessons since 2002. I teach both French Horn and Piano lessons in my home studio or at your home. I believe that everybody learns differently so there is no "cookie cutter" lesson plan with me. Your lessons will be tailored to your musical interests and style of learning. Young beginning piano students can expect to learn theory through games and coloring projects for example. I strive for a dynamic studio so that all involved have fun learning.

I am also a registered Wunderkeys instructor. Wunderkeys is a piano method specifically designed for preschoolers aged 3-5 years old. Using pictures, rhymes, singing, games, and more, lessons are so much fun that students don't even realize they're learning! Children don't need to have any musical background or knowledge to learn with the W
underkeys method.

I hold a Bachelors degree in French Horn performance from the University of MN-Duluth with piano being my secondary instrument. I also hold a Master's Degree from Wichita State University. I held the position of Assistant French Horn in the Wichita Symphony and have freelanced and subbed with numerous orchestras and groups in the midwest including the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra.

I am an experienced accordion teacher and performer, offering lessons at all levels from beginner to advanced in my home near Rosedale and the St. Paul campus of the U of MN. I especially enjoy working with children and with adult beginners. For those who do not own an accordion, I have accordions available for rental and can also help you purchase a quality used accordion at a reasonable price.

My background: I have been giving accordion lessons for ten years and have been performing on accordion for (has it really been that long?!) over fifty years. I originally studied accordion at the Henry Johns studios in Allentown, PA, and later studied with Dee Langley in Minneapolis. I have performed with the group Mosaica, which has appeared regularly at Kramarczuk's in Northeast Minneapolis and has also been featured at venues such as Polish
Festival in Minneapolis and Festival of Nations in St. Paul. I also perform in a smaller three-person group, known as the Accidental Trio. As a solo musician I have performed for many special events, such as weddings and parties. I have frequently been called upon to play accordion in pit orchestras for musicals, including "Fiddler on the Roof" (5 different productions), "Cabaret," and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
