Lauren is inspirational!

I began studying with Lauren about five years ago. Her instruction in musical theatre, opera, and pop has been some of the best that I have ever received. In fact, thanks to her coaching, I was able to book a role in my first Equity musical, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, at the Pantages Theatre in LA. She has a passion for music, is an excellent accompanist, and knows how to work with developing singers. Her engaging, encouraging direction continues to inspire me to be the best vocalist I can be!

Lauren is an amazing teacher!

Lauren is an incredible teacher! I came to her without much experience in vocal technique, and she has helped me improve so much. She has taught me many useful techniques to stay on pitch even when the notes are really high, to have good breath support, and to project my voice more.

Lauren is a very supportive teacher. She likes to establish friendships with her students, and she truly cares about what's going on in their lives.

I've taken lessons with Lauren for a little over 3 years now because I've had such a great experience with her. I'd recommend her to anybody! She has helped me get into my school's advanced choir, prepare solo songs, and just practice my singing technique in general.

Also, scheduling voice lessons with Lauren is very convenient. We never have problems finding a common time. I love the studio where she teaches too! It's really cool. I have nothing but positive feedback about my time with her, and I plan to continue lessons with her!

Learn to sing a variety of styles comfortably by establishing good breath support and gaining better access to all parts of your range! Prepare for auditions and performances by finding your unique voice.

Includes singing technique, movement and gestures, repertoire selection, musicality and interpretation, diction, pitch memory, sight-singing, etc., according to the student's experience and needs..

About Barbee
Hi! My name is Barbee and I’ve been teaching and singing professionally for over ten years. I love helping my students reach their musical goals, while having fun making music at the same time!

I accept students of all levels and ages 8 and up. Some of my students are working musicians, actors, and voice actors; many are teenagers who aspire to study music and/or theatre in college and become professional performers. And of course many are enthusiastic avocational singers and pianists who simply love music and want to work on their technique in a fun environment.

Some recent student accomplishments include:
*Leading roles in musicals and operas
*International concert tours
*Acceptance to multiple NYC performing arts high schools
*Multiple scholarship offers from universities to study music
*Acceptance to pre-professional traini
ng programs such as Paper Mill Playhouse and AMDA Summer Conservatories

Both voice and piano lessons are based on a foundation of healthy technique while incorporating musicianship skills and encouraging the student to develop their own creativity. I am experienced in teaching many genres and styles including Broadway/musical theater, classical/opera, pop, rock, R&B, country, and folk. I encourage my students to explore new styles and apply good technique to any style they may choose to sing or play.

I love helping my students prepare for auditions. As an active performer myself I have auditioned many, MANY times for different organizations, and I have also been on "the other side of the table" and I know what qualities audition panels are looking for. Let me help you show your best qualities at your audition!

As a member of both NATS (National Association for Teachers of Singing) and ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) I am constantly working to improve my teaching skills by keeping up with the latest pedagogical research. I love sharing new tips and techniques with my students!

I strive to create a lesson environment that is open and honest, where my students are never afraid to ask questions or try something new. I am always happy to explain concepts in a different way and I encourage improvisation and creativity in addition to healthy technique and strong musicianship.

If you have any questions for me, please don’t hesitate to send me a message by clicking “Ask Barbee a Question” at the top of the page.

In-studio equipment: Yamaha P-115 digital piano with 3-pedal unit and bench, music stands, large library of scores and anthologies for repertoire exploration

Please note that you MUST have an acoustic or digital piano with weighted keys for in-home piano lessons. You MUST have a piano or keyboard for in-home voice lessons. If you are looking to purchase an instrument I am happy to provide recommendations.

Please note that students are expected to purchase all music, curriculum, and other materials as appropriate.

I teach voice lessons for students from beginner to advanced levels. My students range from 4 years old to 70 years old, but you're never too old to start! I use Singing Lessons for Little Singers by Gregory Blankenbehler for students under 9 years old. This book is a 3-in-1 Voice, Ear-training and sight-singing method book for Children. For students 10-15 yrs, I use Teach Yourself to Sing by Karen Farnum Surmani. This book teaches the basics of proper singing, music theory, and performance skills. And for Adults I use The Contemporary Singer by Anne Peckham which teaches the basics of singing and performance for adult learners.
I believe singing should be fun to learn and everyone can grow and develop their voice! I strive to create a positive environment for all my students no matter their experience level or age.

About Kelsey
My name is Kelsey, and I teach Guitar, Voice, and Songwriting lessons. I loved learning to play guitar when I was 14 years old as I was learning to write my own songs and perform them for various audiences across Michigan. And now that I've been playing, singing and writing for 17 years, have my Bachelor's in Music from Cornerstone University, and years of touring experience, it has been my privilege the past 6 years to teach these skills to students of all ages out of my home studio! I love to teach and I love music and sharing this passion with my students every week is one of my greatest joys!
My goal for each student is to help you achieve your goals. Whether that's performing live, or just learning to play and/or sing your favorite songs, or jump starting your songwriting. My guitar students have seen much success in learning new c
hords and getting to practice their favorite songs and master new techniques that make them sound more professional. My voice students have seen so much development in their tone, pitch recognition, breath support, and over all vocal strength as we set goals for their individual voices. And my songwriting students have learned to write their own songs, and even ways to get ideas flowing when they feel the dreaded "writer's block". Whatever your goals we can work on achieving them together!

Gio went above and beyond in teaching my son Romie. My son studied with him privately to prepare for NYSSMA and got a perfect score. His first few lessons were via Skype and then we decided to switch to in person lessons. Both were great. We are so glad to have found a patient and diligent teacher in Gio. Our daughter Maia will be starting lessons with him soon and we look forward to watching her growth with Gio.

Students will grow their passion for singing and music each week as they engage with vocal music from a variety of styles and genres. As they work through music they will learn technique that promotes vocal health and encourages them to display their own natural talent.

About Nicole
I have been teaching voice, music and acting for over a decade in many capacities. I have taught K-8 general music, elementary and upper school chorus, acting, musical theatre, beginning piano and voice. I have taught in private schools, public schools and after-school centers.
Teaching private voice lessons is my very favorite part of my job. This is where I get to see my students passion and skill grow each week as we discover music and work through distinct challenges together. As an educator I believe that anyone can sing and that music and singing can be transformative. I believe that students gain skills that not only allow them to become a talented and well rounded individual, but also teach skills relating to confidence building, long-term goals, persistence, perseverance and patience.
I encourage students to take large l
eaps by performing annually in a recital and by participating in local assessments and competitions. I can also help students prepare for upcoming events such as a performance, wedding songs, talent show, or school audition.
I teach at my in home in Pinecrest- very close to The Falls shopping center. Parents or guests are always welcome to watch in on any lesson. I teach students of any age or skill set. I teach a variety of music: pop, rock, broadway, Disney, folk, art, classical, and worship. I can also teach music theory and sight singing.
