I've been teaching piano now for 15 years. My goal is for the student to learn to play by feel in addition to reading music. A standard lesson would consist of some playing in books and going over some music theory followed by playing by feel. This would include blues, jazz, and rock grooves. My approach is creative and customized to the prospective student. The student needs to enjoy learning the piano. A happy student is a successful one.

About Paul

I am a musician who has played in many bands. My primary instrument is piano and voice. I also play rhythm guitar. My current group is a "Who" tribute band, performing a complete history of the rock group, The Who. Please check out our website magicbustour.com I play by ear but also read music.

I am a passionate musician and educator. I have worked for many years as a private flute instructor on both the modern and baroque flute, gaining experience teaching many age and skill levels. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student, with an emphasis on developing tone, technique, and breathing skills. Students will also be encouraged to think about the music that they play. As a musician, I developed an interest in the field of Historical Performance over the course of my undergraduate degree. In this field, one not only studies the music of past periods, but studies its relevance to the social, political, and cultural circumstances of its time. I believe this puts me in a unique position as a music educator, as I understand the importance of teaching students to connect musical works to their historical contexts. This is a skill that will provide them with a richer understanding of all types of music, including both classical and popular, and give them ...

I have training in classes such as orchestration, arranging, jazz theory, etc. I also have studied composition privately for the past 4 years with great composers such as David Bennett Thomas, Norman David and Evan Solot. I've written all kinds of works, including big band, classical, funk, you name it! I also freelance as a horn chart writer for many of the local wedding bands and cover bands, so I am constantly using my ear training skills. "My daughter used to take flute lessons with Galyna. I wish she didn't move from Princeton, so my daughter could continue lessons with her. Galyna's kindness, engaging personality and desire to help a student grow as a musician were important factors which contributed to a positive and nurturing learning atmosphere. Her own performances were always inspirational. She is a great teacher, and I highly recommend her!"

"Jesus has been really helpful in improving my technique and introducing me to challenging pieces. I have been playing piano for about 14 years and took a long break from working on my music. At first, I was skeptical about taking lessons again, but I decided to start roughly two months ago. Since starting lessons with Jesus, I'm playing pieces that I would have never chosen for myself on my own and tackling them even faster than I thought I could. Aside from learning new, advanced pieces, he is really helping me with my technique as a performer. Jesus fosters a welcoming environment and I genuinely look forward to my lesson each week. If you're an older student like me interested in piano, I highly recommend Jesus!"
