I have been teaching lessons since I graduated from High School in 2003. I plan each students lesson to help meet and exceed their personal goals and expectations. All students will work on diction, intonation, reading and understanding music/rhythms, breathing, and posture. I am very laid back and positive and try to make my students feel comfortable with their voices and singing in front of other people.

About Nicole

I have been singing my entire life and teaching privately for 17 years. I am very passionate about private instruction, as I have personally found the most success through this method of learning music. When I am not working, I can be found singing in my church choir, playing saxophone and/or b

I earned my B.A. in music from Hood College and have studied with Elaine Bonazzi in New York and Ruth Drucker in Baltimore. I sang opera professionally in my twenties and have been teaching private voice lessons for fifteen years. Many of my students have gone on to music conservatories or universities for vocal performance (classical and musical theater), but if you are just looking to have fun singing that is great, too!

*note: for voice lessons I only teach female students

ONLINE VOICE LESSONS: I offer VOICE LESSONS ONLY online as piano does require a physical presence at the keyboard with the student. If you are interested in online voice lessons, there are some differences from a live lesson to consider:

During live lessons, I accompany my students on the piano for their songs. During online lessons, due to lag time and my need to clearly hear you during lessons in order to give solid feedback, you will need to have an audio source separate from whatever device you are

Of all my instruments, I enjoy the act of and teaching singing the most.
It brings tremendous joy to you and your audience and is fun to learn at whatever level. I like to demystify singing as some people seem to have spent a lot of time over-complicating it. That's not to say there isn't important technique to learn and practice but only when it's coupled with real vocal freedom that all the great singers have used to their advantage.
I want my students to 'underthink' breath control so they can Let their bodies go on autopilot so they can focus on the performance instead of the technique alone, whatever their level.
I have been told I have tremendous energy as a singer and I'd like to be able to share with you how I achieve that so that you can do the same!

In my music studio, I make sure that there’s structured fun to learning your students’ instrument! I take the time to develop individual lesson plans for each student’s unique needs and learning abilities so that they will have the best environment to grow. I often will incorporate a holistic approach to learning music where we will also play games, make projects, and use alternate activities to keep learning music fresh. I truly believe that learning an instrument opens up an incredible opportunity for expression and growth; I hope that we can work together to expand your student’s life through music!

While the foundation for all styles of singing is essentially the same, I specialize in teaching contemporary styles (as opposed to classical singing). Contemporary styles such as rock, pop, blues, gospel, country, jazz and Latin have very different styling than classical singing and as such once correct basic vocal technique is established it should be taught very differently than traditional classical singing. I'll help you get power, more range (to be able to sing higher and lower) pitch control (to sing mor ein tune), better tone, more musicality and versatility through a combination of exercises and learning the songs that you love.

About Ricardo

I have been a professional musician and teacher all my adult life. Music is my passion and has always been how I make a living. I teach piano/keyboards, guitar, voice, bass and ukulele. I studied classical piano at SUNY at Buffalo and I initially learned to play guitar and singing on my own. Years

"I began taking lessons with Rachel almost two years ago because I love musical theater and singing but have never had any music education or voice classes. I was very nervous coming into my first lesson as a complete beginner with no natural talent, worried I would be too embarrassed to sing. But Rachel is so kind and really puts her students at ease - I have never felt self conscious in front of her! She has a great approach to teaching beginners.

Due to Rachel’s teaching and encouragement, I recently auditioned for a local production of a musical and got a part in the show. I never dreamed I would be good enough to be a part of the musicals I love watching and I am having the time of my life in rehearsals! I am so proud of my progress and a lot of that is due to Rachel’s skill as a teacher. She helped me with song preparation, writing a resume, and how to behave during the audition, as well as obviously all her work to improve my tone, diction, and song interpretation skills.

I couldn’t read music and in the beginning had no interest in learning, and Rachel never made me do tedious music theory work instead of doing the “fun part”... BUT through our lessons I came to understand what value being able to read music had and became self motivated to learn more about reading music and some music theory. Now I can play my melodies on the piano and have a greater understanding of music that has enhanced my singing practice! My point here is that Rachel has a very holistic approach to teaching and I have picked up very important skills as a musician without feeling frustrated! I also very much enjoyed learning some classical songs which I wasn’t sure I would like - but not only were they great to work on to learn better voice skills, they were super fun.

I am so glad I began lessons with Rachel. I would recommend her to ANYONE looking to become a better singer. She has made singing so fun and enabled me to do things I never thought I could! I’d give her ten stars if that was an option."

"This voice coach is a musical genius when it comes to getting the most out of her students. My son never really showed the enthusiasm for singing until Margo started working with him. In just a few short months, Margo has him singing with confidence and his vocals are off the chart! I give a lot of credit to her techniques and style of teaching. If you or someone you know is looking for a great voice coach, you'll want to employ Margo's services. Even today we call on her to tune up his voice and help him smooth out the rough edges."

"If you're looking for someone who is professional, educated in her trade, easy to work with, extremely kind-hearted, and just plain knows her stuff, Jan is the one! My daughter has been taking lessons by Skype since February 2014 and has developed her singing and performing skills tremendously. Jan has been able to connect with her on deeper level than her previous singing teachers. My husband even commented on how he's noticed her self-esteem and confidence improve. We recently participated in a 5 week workshop with Jan. We drove 5 hours each way once a week just to study with her. I would give her more than 5 stars if I could!! : )"
