The voice is our first instrument, and accordingly, our most natural one to express the creative impulses of our soul.
However, there are several challenges we need to overcome in order to make it really shine.
The first is that we hear our own voice differently than others hear it - from "inside our head." So it takes some practice to learn different ways of hearing ourselves.
The second challenge is that most music doesn't happen in isolation, but with other people's involvement. So unless you plan to sing "a capella" (without instrumental accompaniment) and just for your own enjoyment, you need to learn how to relate what you sing to other sounds. This requires a good deal of practice and it is certainly easier with the help of a skilled teacher to help you learn not only what to listen for, but how to control your voice to make it do what you want.
Then there are technical refinements like breath control, articulation, intonation, projection, resonance, ear training, etc.

I especially enjoy when we summarize a lesson and decide some clear goals for the next week, making practicing on my own time easy-breezy. He knows a lot, (like A LOT) about the guitar, and music in general, and communicates theory/concepts clearly. I've learned so much about finger picking and how to navigate the fret board, and the progress I see in myself is incredibly motivating.
Lessons are fun and are always a highlight in my week. Schedule a few lessons and see for yourself! Truly the best instructor on here.
