25 years of teaching voice has given me the joy of helping singers of all ages and abilities realize their full vocal potential. As a vocal technician, my approach to teaching is based on the principles of vocal science, as well as my own proven theories. My students not only increase their range, vocal strength and develop a better tone, many of them have gone on to perform in major theaters throughout the nation. Whether you are a musical theater, opera, rock, jazz or pop singer, my technique will help you trust your voice and free you to be creatively expressive.

Bel Canto singing technique for the modern singer is taught in private and group classes. No one sounds like old opera singers, even if the student wants to sing opera. Students are allowed to choose most of the material they learn in the lesson. There will be times when Rachel will suggest a song to a student but if the student doesn't enjoy the song, they will work as a team to find a song that does work for the student. I have experience performing and teaching many genres of music, including Broadway/musical theatre, jazz, opera, and modern. I will teach correct breathing, support, posture, and help find singers' individual strengths.

My focus is the progress of the student based upon the goals they set for themselves and my ability to push them to their highest potential. I track and monitor my students’ progress from one lesson to the next. I find this level of accountability both helpful for developing self-discipline and rewarding. It allows students to see their own gradual progress as they approach their goals. I cater to every student’s individual learning style. I always aim to challenge my students in fun and creative ways. I have experience in teaching every genre and I aim to expand my students’ musical interests by introducing them to different styles of music. I incorporate music reading into voice lessons. Music literacy is a tool to which every musician should have exposure.
