Jean is a wonderful person, but I just don't see the passion that it takes to teach and play music.

David K.

Worcester, MA

About David

My teaching philosophy is rooted in a desire to help students channel their inner creativity and artistic passion through their voice. My first priority is to create an atmosphere in which students can explore, create, fail, and succeed without fear of judgment. From there, I give students the technique and musical guidance needed to achieve their artistic goals. I believe that music is a serious business that requires immense technique and rigorous dedication, but I believe great technique can be achieved through love and joy, and not just fear.

Prior to moving to Worcester in 2016, I perf
ormed and taught extensively in Philadelphia. I taught voice classes and private lessons at Temple Univ. from 2012-2016. I taught voice majors as well as non-music majors. I served as a teaching artist with Opera Philadelphia from 2014-2016. We focused on bringing opera to Philly public K-12 classrooms. I am currently working on my doctorate in Vocal Performance.

I had so much fun during every lesson I had with David, and I could not wait for the next one every time! He is a very patient person, and he made sure that I felt comfortable. The lessons were half technique and half working on a specific piece of music. He adapted the lessons to my level and helped me choose songs that made me want to keep singing!

I improved so much over the past year, and I learned a lot from David about my posture, the best way to breathe, and how to sing more musically. I really wish all music teachers were like him! You must take a lesson with him – you won’t be disappointed!

I took singing lessons with David for a little over a year. My progress has skyrocketed since I began with him. He is kind, patient, understanding, and passionate. We usually began with a few warm up drills, scales, fundamentals exercises, and technique, with each exercise adjusted to fit my ability and skill level, usually with a clever analogy so I could comprehend. He is a great teacher and any student would be lucky to learn from him.

Ronald K.

Shrewsbury, MA

About Ronald

I am a conservatory trained (St. Olaf College BM, Peabody Conservatory MM) professional oboe player. I played for many years in the Boston Philharmonic Orchestral and am currently the second oboe in Symphony New Hampshire. I have free-lanced around the greater Boston area since 1987 playing orchestral music and chamber music professionally. I have also taught oboe students since 1987. Much of the teaching was through public school systems such as Newton, Natick, Concord and Shrewsbury. I have a room in my house dedicated to music. It has separate access from the rest of our house (our do
g and my own kids!) I do love sharing music with people of all ages. My students get not only advice on how to play the oboe but also a perspective of music history and theory in so far as it pertains to the music one is learning.

Mr. Kaye has been teaching my 11 year old daughter since mid June (6 weeks). He has great knowledge and has helped my daughter correct bad habits she picked up for past 2 years from her previous teacher. She has gained greater respect and understanding of Oboe.

Mr. Kaye is an incredible Oboist and is very easy going. He treats my daughter as budding talent and has patience. He encourages her and praises her. It is a pleasure to watch my daughter progress.

My daughter and I would highly recommend Mr. Kaye to anybody who wants to learn to play an oboe.

Elif C.

Framingham, MA

About Elif

I've had over 8 years of teaching experience with all ages and levels. I believe that everyone has a different way of understanding therefore I follow a different lesson plan for each person. The most important thing for me is that my students feel comfortable and safe in the lessons to experiment anything that they want to. Understanding that there's no such a thing as wrong but there's always better ways to develop ourselves.

About myself: I'm a Berklee College of Music alumni, singer and oboe player. I also graduated from Istanbul Conservatory as an oboe principal and piano as my seconda
ry instrument and Bahcesehir University as a jazz singer and saxophone player. I was lucky to collaborate and perform with some incredible musicians such as David Liebman, Terrence Blanchard, Dream Theater, Guinga, Antonio Serrano and work with Kevin Mahogany, Amy London, Jane Monheit, Nancy Rumble, Jean-Luc FIllon, Caris Liebman.Had to chance to tour around Europe and South America with two different projects that I've had.
