Matt has been teaching guitar to my 12 year old son for several months now. My sons' guitar playing has improved greatly since his lessons with Matt. He's playing with a lot more confidence, thanks to Matt's influence.
Matt is always on time and has a wonderful way with people. My son feels very comfortable with him. They collaborate on songs together and it is important to Matt that Jude be engaged in his guitar practice.
We're thrilled with Matt and I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Any aspiring guitar player would be lucky to have Matt as a teacher!

My approach to teaching is based on my experience as a performer. Performance, to me, is basically communicating. The performer has something he or she wants to get across to a listener. To communicate musically you don't have to be a geni

If it is their home, a piano should be on the premises. I am often happy to provide lead sheets if, for example, we are working within the standard jazz repertory.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in jazz, and teach mostly adults. I teach all styles of jazz piano including boogie-woogie and other older styles, though my main focus is on modern jazz.

Peter is the best teacher I have ever had--far better than my past piano teacher and my flute teacher. He is insightful, brilliant in his teaching style as well as his knowledge. He, also, teaches me music theory. He guides me in my lessons. He is generous with his knowledge and he is personable as well. He is kind and he knows my own limitations, and is a very sensitive person.
I teach beginner through advanced students and tailor my approach towards what you want to learn.
I have a BA in classical bass from University of Iowa and work as a professional bassist (classical, jazz, contemporary pop EDM and trap, rock, R&B, gospel and more) and music producer and teacher. I look forward to meeting you!
Leanna is currently in her first year of her master's degree in flute performance at Northwestern University. She has participated in many masterclasses with artists such as Denis Bouriakov, Emmanuel Pahud, and Gary Schocker. She currently performs with the Eugene Ballet Co

My approach in private instruction involves tailoring the lessons to the specific needs of each student, while making sure that he/she has the knowledge and technique to succeed in their creative endeavors. Whether it's a hobby or a potential career, I leave nothing out. You will learn the entire instrument. In cases where a student works in more than one subject, one session can typically be applied
I also offer group lessons for 3 or more students. For friends at similar skill levels, this can offer a fun and more affordable way to learn a subject. It also serves as an additional motivator as the students in the group feed off of each other for ideas and inspiration.
Please feel free to contact me with the "Ask Phil a Question" button on my profile here. This can include questions about my method, or regarding days and times for lessons. What you see in my availability here is based on my schedule away from TakeLessons. I have students elsewhere and perform shows regularly. I may have additional times available and tend to have some flexibility. I teach worldwide online. Just ask.
As soon as you're ready to book lessons, you can use the Green Button after selecting your area of study, day and time. I will receive a notification that you've signed up. I will then confirm with you and send a questionnaire regarding your lesson needs within 48 hours.
Thanks for your interest.
I look forward to working with you!

For those who are interested I'll teach you about songwriting and performance if you're interested too. Check me on youtube performing with Blacklist Regulars.
My instrumental ability has allowed me to take professional tours both nationally and internationally as a sideman (Durand Jones and the Indications, Indiana Jazz Exchange), and my writing for large ensemble has been featured by multiple groups (Sean Imboden Large Ensemble, Liberation Music Collective).
I'm very passionate about helping people realize their own internal goals, no matter how far off they may seem to them. I already feel we can work together to help you do it, and we haven't even met yet! My mix of academic training, professional experience, an

Teaching is one of my favorite parts of being involved in music. I love being able to share the joy of making music with my students. During lessons, we will work on all skills needed to be successful on the clarinet. This includes: reading music, having a good embouchure, correct hand position, proper breathing and air usage, good technique, and much more.

I've been singing professionally for 15 years in a variety of settings: I grew up in a family bluegrass band, sang musical theater through high school and college, sing in a female folk ukulele duo, and have a thriving career as a classical soprano in Chicago.
I love teaching students of all skill levels. For two years I was the head of the voice department for a dance academy. While there I maintained 15 students of varying age and skill level, and created a curriculum for their dance and voice integrated musical theater program. I also created a music education program for inner city schools in Milwaukee that had their arts funding taken away.

Practicing any song on the piano can be fun at first, but after a while playing the same songs by yourself can be a bit boring. Why not find some songs for the piano, guitar, and voice? You can perform for others in a talent show or an open mic night, or just for yourselves and have a good jam session! With any of the songs for the piano, guitar, and voice, your music teacher can help you with some pointers, and might even be able to teach you the chords by listening to the song.
