If I could give Brian 10 stars, I would. He is enthusiastic, present, supportive and highly knowledgeable. Learning instruments has always been a challenge for me , but Brian makes being a banjo beginner an absolute joy. I look forward to practicing every day, and can really hear my progress - which amazes me because it's only been just over a month. I can see myself working with Brian for the long haul. He puts me at ease, and always gives great responsive tips that improve my playing immediately. I feel SO lucky to have stumbled across his profile.

I love showing other people how to play musical instruments, especially cello! If you're a beginner, I'll get you playing music right away; note-reading, scales, and stuff can come later. If you've been playing for a little while, we can work together to help you learn new skills, new music, and practice techniques that can help you progress quickly while avoiding frustration.

About Sammy

Hello, I'm Sammy! Making music is one of my favorite things to do. I believe that music is for everyone and lessons are about you, the student. So we can tailor your lessons to whatever you need. Whether you're a beginner, playing/learning for fun, or looking to enhance your playing, I can help

Thomas and Sammy connected right away. Thomas had a terrible experience last year and following that, wouldn't even pick up his cello without proadding and arguing. This afternoon he picked up his cello and started playing the minute he got home from school. Yea! Prayer answered!

During my time with students, I strive to assist them in taking risks, discovering the joy of music, and making progress with their singing. No matter what their goals are- All-State Choir, opera, musical theatre, or just having fun, I love helping them reach them. By looking at different genres of vocal music, we will focus on many different aspects of singing, from music theory, to expressive performance, to the foundation of healthy singing.

I believe that every student is unique and learns in his or her own way. Therefore, I tailor the pace and focus of lessons on each student’s interests and abilities. I believe it is integral for all students to have an understanding of music theory and therefore, work on theory and sight-reading. In addition, I think a well-rounded musical education is key, and work on an array of genres with my students including folk songs, art songs, and musical theatre. Students will work on 2-5 songs at once, and will consider a song "learned" once ...

About Meg

At the age of 4 I began producing musicals in my basement with my sister. This progressed to acting classes, piano lessons, and eventually the school musical in sixth grade. A conservatory-trained musician offering violin and piano lessons, I am able to teach in Russian, Kazakh, and English. I am certified as a violin/viola teacher at all levels from beginner to advanced/conservatory levels by the Glinka Conservatory in Novosibirsk, Russia, where I received my undergraduate degree.

In the past nine years, I have taught beginning and intermediate students on the piano, and beginners (age 3) to advanced conservatory musicians on violin.

About Moldir

My approach is to respond to the needs of the individual student. With beginners, I initially assess the student’s musical ear and use games and other fun exercises to introduce fundamental elements of music theory. At the same time, I work with the beginner to establish a foundation of good habits

"I think my friends are tired of hearing me talk about how much I love my guitar lessons with Indigo. She is patient and kind and has a deep knowledge of the guitar and of music in general. I always come away from our lessons feeling like I have moved forward in my learning and inspired to practice. I am a beginner in my mid thirties but I think Indigo would be a great teacher for all ages and skill levels. If you are thinking about taking guitar lessons your teacher should be Indigo, I can't recommend her more!"

"William is an amazing teacher. Not only has he taught me to play the bagpipes but has also managed to form a greater appreciation for music in general. The little tidbits of information he throws into a lesson really stick with my mind and thus I feel I have learned a great deal more than just one instrument. He has clearly been teaching for a long time, you can tell by his patience and his resourcefulness of teaching techniques depending on the student. While he will show you proper technique he also throws in an analogy that manages to make a complicated piece of music understandable. I strongly recommend lessons from William if you want to learn the instrument and the music of bagpiping."

"I have been using your advice every time I practice. Again, I am extremely grateful for the advice you have given me: I have improved more in these last few days than in the weeks of practicing before our lesson. I was looking for a male vocal coach who had experience, and that is exactly what I needed!

Thank you for your time,

"Excelllent Music and Voice teacher

Studying with Greg was a wonderful experience. I'd sung as a teenager in choir and had studied music as a child. As an adult I wanted to study voice for creative outlet and found Greg through a friend. He got me started immediately on vocal exercises, some music theory to train my ear and we selected songs that I was interested in. I broke through some 'blocks' I had about singing in front of another person and really made progress. I feel much more confident with expressing myself through my voice. Incidentally, I saw Greg perform with one of his students who got a recording contract -- he's a wonderful musician on guitar, piano and voice. A pleasure to watch and then bring that back to the lessons. I highly recommend him as a teacher !"

5 Ways Learning Music Theory Can Make You a Better Singer

Do you love to sing? We'll take a wild guess and say it wasn't chord progressions and minor scales that caught your interest. But did you know reading music and understanding the theory behind it can actually help you as you learn how to sing? Find out more in this guest post by St. Augustine, FL voice teacher Heather L.   Music theory may not be the most glamorous part of being a singer -- after all, no one's analyzing Brahms's first symphony at that summer music festival in town, and …
