I teach beginners from scratch through cellists at the top of the field. I've trained more than 60 cellists, including children as small as three and a half years old, autistic children, beginning adolescents, cello "converts" from other instruments, blind students, adult beginners, conservatory-bound teens, and professional symphony players.
All the time I hear "I can't start, I'm too old", "I am not musically inclined", or "I am not talented"- all from people that never held an instrument in their lives. That is self-deprecating talk, and it is absolutely false. Everything a performer does was learned at some point. Absolutely everything. Any person has the potential to learn how to play incredibly well. It does not take a "gift" or "talent". It takes the initiative to try.

About Anna

I have a passion for training cellists to a high level of musicianship. I have mentored cellists from the first lesson through professional symphony auditions. I am certified with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and know the Suzuki Method intimately through growing up with the method myself

Anna is an extremely talented cellist. She plays with virtuosic technique, and she has great musical instincts. She has experience working with students from many backgrounds. She is patient, flexible, and energetic, and though I know her in a professional context, from what I've heard these traits certainly carry over into her teaching.
Angie
Wonderful teacher! She explains techniques in a way that is readily understood. I had previously struggled with certain learning curves where I'd hit a wall, and she helped me through them. She teaches with joy and passion!

"When I first met Moriah, I was a little hesitant to continue lessons with her because she was in her 20s like myself. I wanted someone, I guess, older to be my instructor. The older they are, the more they know, the more they can teach right? ...........Well, Moriah is one heck of a smart woman when it comes to music theory, and ear/vocaltraining! She knows what she is talking about and even more so, knows how to explain it in a way YOU will understand. She will work with you until you are able to grasp what she is trying to teach, even if you have to try a million different methods before the right one is found. She would rather spend time with you in fully understanding something then just pushing you along. She is open to questions, comments and concerns you have. Moriah is very aware of the concept of “one size does NOT fit all”, and she will customize your session to your needs, and skill level.

Her lessons usually start of with a couple of stretches (usually just upper body). This is to help relax your body, jaw, mouth, etc before singing. Then she will do some vocal warms that at first seem pretty basic, and not intense, but they will help you in the long run! Trust me. Then she will practice with you a song you want to try to sing or need help with. As you progress, she will have you work on reading music and other skills. (Course, she is open to working on anything more or less as you need). Once again, your lesson is customized on what YOU need.

I’ve been working with her since July 2018. I know that I have improved on ear training immensely! I am able to pick up melodies much faster than before. I am able to sing more powerful than before which is something I struggle with consistently. She will push you! She will take you out of your comfort and push you to have confidence in yourself. She has a great personality. Kind. Fun. Energetic. Intelligent beyond her years. I’m continuing to take lessons with her until she makes me the next Beyoncé or something.

So I highly recommend her. Book a few lessons with her, attend them, don’t forget to take your water, and a recoding device, be responsible and take it serious because she is taking you serious. After all you’re paying for the lessons. You want to improve. And you will.

I’m looking forward to continue working with her and be stretched more."

"I can't express just how glad I am that I found Lena two years ago when my sons wanted to learn how to play the guitar. Her approach is perfect and makes them love learning and playing. They're also learning how to perform (playing and singing) on-stage, which has so many added benefits, musically and personally. I can't imagine there's a better teacher and experience around."
