Experienced teacher of 5 years, specializing in beginner/ intermediate guitar, voice and performance. All ages welcome. Whether you're looking to play the blues, serenade your crush, shred face-melting guitar solos, or any other smattering of skills, lessons will be catered to meet the individual goals of the student. Not to mention random bits of musical trivia, picked up from years of obsessive Wikipedia reading.
I have been teaching guitar for over 7 years and recently graduated from Macalester College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. My approach to teaching is student focused, emphasizing the individual goals of each student rather than adhering to more traditional, standardized notions of music educatio

I have been teaching oboe for 20 years and have had students of many nationalities. The lessons will have a variety of materials and can be custom-made to meet the student’s needs and goals. We would study scales, etudes, solos, chamber music and composition. Oboe techniques such as vibrato, special fingering, tonguing, musicality, and suggestions for reeds would also be a part of the lesson. If possible, I love to play duets or at least demonstrate concepts and ideas. If the students would like to play a particular style or music, they just need to let me know.
I have both a bachelor and masters in music. I have been very fortunate to have amazing teachers: John Mack (Cleveland Orchestra), Pam Pecha (Cleveland Orchestra), Louis Rosenblatt (Philadelphia Orchestra) and Adrian Gnam (Mercer University). Playing oboe has allowed me to play in many orchestras

Karen teaches my 5 yr. old daughter violin. She loves Karen and has progressed quicker than I thought she would. Karen is very good with little kids and really knows how to motivate them. My daughter looks forward to seeing her each week and is willing to work for Karen. She especially likes it when Karen plays with her. I would definitely recommend Karen as a teacher!

Thank you, Randy...you're terrific!"
From there each successive lesson we attacked those weak areas of my play. I was able to get incrementally better each week from the advice and handouts he offered, overall elevating my ability to play dramatically.
Chris is a very down to earth guy - and despite being an excellent musician was not even a little pretentious in carefully explaining concepts that were basic, but that i needed to know.
Overall, Chris takes the time to very effectively communicate how you can improve your guitar skills, and if you put in the practice from his instruction - you'll see the results.
He's also a nice guy and very easy to talk to."
The development of my instrument has been enhance and continues to be enhance with the techniques I have learned from Tanisha. I will say a lot of abs work, who knew. I am absolutely enjoying my lessons and happy how far my singing range has increase. I look forward for every lesson and my ability to improve."
