Patient, focused, encouraging and time efficient. He was good at keeping our youngster on task and making the experience fun. Wish he was able to take our child further with piano. I don't know how much was Tyler and how much was our child, but our kiddo learned quickly from Tyler. Thank you Tyler!

About Crystal
Crystal brings a lifetime’s experience of professional musicianship to each of her lessons. Born into a family of musicians, she sang her first solo at age 2. She also benefits her students with an extraordinarily diverse musical background, having worked as a vocalist in gospel, country, musical theater, jazz, classical, rock, pop and soul styles. Her performing career has taken her from L.A. church meetings to London’s Houses of Parliament.

Crystal hails originally from Los Angeles, CA - where her musical parents gave her a head start by including her in the family business the moment she was able to contribute. She went on to study classical voice, piano and music theory at The Boston Conservatory of Music. After concluding her studies in London, she returned home and began working regularly as a theater performer, appearing in twen
ty world premiers and re-imagined classics. Most notably she played the lead role of Keely Smith in the big band jazz musical “Louis and Keely: Live At The Sahara” during its eight-month run at Westwood’s Geffen Playhouse. She also formed her own rock band, The Honeysuckle Jones Revival, with whom she performed her own songs all over Los Angeles. And she began working as a studio session vocalist, providing demo vocals for other songwriters, as well as arranging and performing back-up vocals for original artists, including Laura Roppe (currently in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Uncharted list of emerging artists.) Crystal played the lead role of Brooke in the new operatic rock musical “The Burning Opera LA” during its Los Angeles run in 2011 as well as providing ensemble vocals and playing piano and bass. She also performs holiday tunes from the Golden Age of American songwriting with musical quartet The Sleigh Belles.

Crystal believes that music is serious business but that it should be fun. She encourages her students to play music they love, as well as expanding their musical knowledge. She is a firm believer in basics first and emphasizes theory and technique as the tools to support creativity and provide freedom, power and control. She believes effort beats talent every time and the student who practices consistently will see results, whatever their level of ability. Most of all, she believes we were all born to make music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lesson structure varies depending on the student's instrument, age, level of experience and musical style. However, all lessons focus on:

Performance style

After 3 or 6 months of consistent lesson attendance and practice, students will have a clear understanding of how their instrument works and how to care for it. They will be able to read basic music notation. They will be working toward clearly defined musical goals and they will have at least three performance pieces learned.

*** Studio Equipment ***

Amazing singng instructor

Crystal has increased my daughter’s self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those “teen” years. I think a lot of thanks needs to go to Crystal, for assisting my daughter in reaching her current creative level!

Great piano instructor

Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. My daughter’s love for music has increased immensely since learning how to play the piano. This would never have been able to be accomplished without Crystal’s professional and caring teaching style.

Roberta is amazing! I went to her for a little more than 3 years for voice (and piano for a little bit) and she is very helpful, skilled, friendly, knowledgable, and fun. She helped me get into my top choice college as a choral music major with a full tuition scholarship and supported me the entire way. Roberta knows how to work with any voice with any level of experience of any age. Not only is Robera a fantastic teacher; she is also very understanding and a great person to talk to. I would highly recommend her to any student in the area.

About Camille
I am a professional singer, voice teacher, and performer. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a BA in Music Education and received my CA teaching credential in music at San Diego State University.

Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression.

As a professional recording artist, I have sung on sessions with Tim Davis (Glee, ABC's Boy Band) and Damien Jurado (indie singer-songwriter, Sub Pop & Secretly Canadian). I sing with the Los Robles Master Chorale (Oak Park) and Ensoma Creative (San Gabriel Valley), in addition to performing at restaurants and hotels such as E
ureka and Casa 425 (Claremont Village).

I specialize in classical, jazz, musical theater, and contemporary styles, but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every genre. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

Camille is a great instructor! She is calm and encouraging. She has taught me so much about vocal anatomy and important aspects of singing such as breath support, posture, mouth and jaw placement, etc., which in turn has helped in hitting those higher notes. I highly recommend Camille as a vocal coach!

I am a professional musical theatre performer with a rich background in tap. I graduated from Plymouth State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Musical Theatre.

Musical theater students can expect to improve in just a few lessons, feeling more calm, focused, and confident in their performance abilities. I focus on audition technique, whether you are practicing a monologue or a musical theatre song. I teach students how to relax, focus, and meditate prior to their audition so that they can control what only THEY can control in the audition room. I also have many tips and pointers on what and what NOT to do at auditions (based on personal experience!) Auditioning is truly an art, and it takes practice and a healthy mindset to persevere through! I also am able to coach monologues and songs for performance purposes.

Tap student
s can expect to improve weekly in their tap dance technique. I teach students to relax and apply foundational techniques in order to achieve clean tap dance rhythms and sounds . I can help any student to tap with freedom, confidence, and their own unique expression will follow suit.

I teach tap students of various ages and experience levels. I studied tap for 13 plus years. I can teach students to count each tap rhythm, and to learn what each tap step is called (which is also super helpful for tap auditions when they are calling out steps quickly!)

My greatest inspiration was my college tap instructor, Aaron Tolson. I studied with him for 2 years, and I continued to study in NYC at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. I currently reside on the beautiful island of Maui, HI, and am in the midst of starting a "traveling tap tutor" company where I can go directly to families and teach their kids the wonderful art of tap one-on-one. I love to teach students who want to become dynamic tappers!

My personal passion is theatrical tap but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better tap dancer!
