Sharon M. Marysville, WA

About Sharon

Hi there, my name is Sharon M. I have loved music all my life and have enjoyed teaching piano for over 25 years. I began my musical training at a young age and studied, performed and accompanied for many years. Following college (Seattle Pacific University - Music Education/Piano), I had specialized teacher training and certification to teach the Robert Pace Approach to piano (Columbia University). I also had advanced training in how to teach all styles of Improvisation with the author of "Pattern Play" Forrest Kinney. My students enjoy discovering and creating their own music from the very first lesson. I recognize that each student is unique and has different goals and aspirations so each student's lesson is unique and carefully prepared to inspire and create curiosity to make ...

Matthew is a fantastic drum teacher. My 8 year old son recently started lessons with Matthew, and he is so excited to come home and practice. Matthew's home studio is immaculate and inviting for budding musicians! Thank you Matthew for making our son's first experience with lessons challenging and fun at the same time. I am even learning musical terminology with my son ( I even secretly practice the drums when no one is around - it's like 2 for the price of one!).

I work with a variety of styles from classical to pop, country, jazz, and Broadway. My students are currently performing in some major theatres and with top name musicians. Larry's dedication to his students is unbeatable. He is determined to find the best way to teach each student, and changes his tactics for each individual singer to make sure they are getting the most out of their lesson and having fun while improving quickly. I work in the musical theatre industry and have filmed audition videos with Larry, done audition prep, and worked general singing technique and have found him to be loyal, encouraging, and extremely talented. He believes in his students and the results show!

In addition, Larry teaches in a fully equipped studio, so you can record your work and really hear how you're doing. I cannot say enough to recommend him!

I have been with Larry since 2000 when I first started doing musical theater. From the start I was amazed by Larry's beautiful voice and vocal knowledge. Larry is very talented in keeping students engaged and best of all his teaching style is molded around the students needs. Since starting with Larry I have delved into so many different styles including Broadway, classical, blues, rock, music performance, songwriting, and even audition prep. Over the past fourteen years Larry hasn't just become my vocal teacher, he has become a lifelong friend, and I look forward to every lesson I have with him.

I am an active member of the Washington Blues Society Education Committee, for which I have been a board member and a creator of Passing the Torch, a music scholarship program for teens. Last spring I worked with Dyann Arthur, to bring Time Marches on, her 2 hour-long multimedia musical show, to the public at the Neptune Theatre. Dyann both wrote and directed this American musical history retrospective, featuring, public domain and original music, costume and scenery changes, and short film loops. She worked with both adult actors from Seattle Theatre Group, and with largely inexperienced teen musicians. Dyann impressed me as being wonderful working with these teens, being both positive and organized, so that the teens, knew exactly what to do and when. They seemed very excited to learn what Dyann had to teach them, and enthusiastic about attending rehearsals. In talking with various teen participants during the rehearsals and after the show, all imparted some version of how they loved working with Dyann and how much they learned about the music industry and stage shows. She advised them about their music performances, stage presence, and professionalism. I believe that they gained a great deal from working with Dyann. I would not hesitate to call upon her to organize and produce another show.

Dyann’s wealth of experience and talent would be a benefit to any potential student. Her passion for music is evident when working with youth. I have seen her extract the best out of a group of young musicians which makes her a successful instructor. My daughter was inspired by her leadership and knowledge. She deeply appreciates all that she has learned from Dyann!

As a bass instructor, I understand the process for engaging a student to learn, practice and strive to improve. Dyann has demonstrated the same understanding in all of the professional musical experiences we have had together. She has a breadth and depth of musical knowledge and inter-personal skills to inspire someone to achieve what they did not think possible.
I highly recommend Dyann as an instructor and motivator that can help anyone to be inspired to grow, enjoy and pursue music.
