Viola is the undersung hero of the orchestra, and I love to help violists learn this beautiful instrument! Though much of the technique of the instrument is the same or very similar to the violin, violists enjoy a great repertoire of solo pieces and high demand in ensembles, which I can help you discover for yourself. (Please see my violin profile for more information on experience and lesson style)

I have studied violin for 20+ years, and I love working with beginner students of all ages. While I was trained classically, I work professionally playing for Broadway musical theater, and was most recently The Fiddler in the Drama-Desk winning revival of The Fiddler on the Roof Off-Broadway. I have played a range of genres in my professional career, such as musical theater, bluegrass, and pop. For my young learners, I begin with the Violin Fun books and the Suzuki method, and incorporate music theory and scales into each lesson. No matter the age of my students, I keep lessons interesting by introducing students to a range of genres, and I always make sure to incorporate songs you've always wanted to learn!
About Lauren
I'm a Broadway performer in NYC, and have played such roles as the Fiddler in the hit off-Broadway revival of The Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Oscar and Tony award winner Joel Grey (2019 Drama Desk Winner Best Musical Revival) and Reza in the national tour of Once (Tony winner best musical). I have been playing drums for more than 10 years and have been teaching for more than 3. Throughout that time, I have played across the country in New York City and even in Japan. I am currently a Jazz Studies Major at Sacramento State University. My goal is to make every student a well-rounded drummer who knows whats going on when they are in any type of musical situation. My favorite style to play is jazz, but I am well-rounded in all other styles such as rock, Latin, blues, funk, and country.
In my lessons, I base the material on the student depending on how advanced they are. If the student is just starting out, I will teach them the basics such as holding the drumsticks properly, basic rudiments, reading rhythms, learning about the hardware, and so on.
If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask :D
About Gabriel
I started playing drums when I was in second grade and formed a band with my 2 older brothers who played bass and guitar. It was something to do when we younger but when I got into high school, I took playing drums a lot more seriously. I was in a very competitive marching band playing bass drum and
