About Jeremy
I am an accomplished performing musician that has experience playing many different instruments in multiple styles. I believe first and foremost that learning music should be fun and exciting with an emphasis on self exploration and communication. It's these qualities in my own musicianship that have helped me grow a true love of music and have pushed my career forward as a performer.

*** Lesson Details ***
In lessons I use a shifting curriculum that is made to work with the needs of each individual student. I firmly believe in the importance of learning to read music and learning some basic music theory, in my experience this helps the student grow from being able to reproduce the music of others to eventually developing a unique style and sound. After three to six months my beginning level students typically feel comfortable enough
to play with other musicians confidently.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons take place in the living room seating and a guitar are available. 1 cat and 1 small dog kept separate during lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide all of the necessary educational tools such as listening samples, and printed off hand outs. The student needs to have their own instrument, staff paper and a pencil.

Jeremy is a great instructor and he certainly knows what he is talking about. I play in a local band so we spend time going over the songs I am working on and he creates lessons and exercises based upon what I am having trouble with. He also always throws in some thoughts or ideas for me to think about to help me to become better. Having taken piano lessons with several different instructors for 5 years, I can confidently say he is indeed the best instructor ever.

About Paul
I began taking drum lessons at a very early age and continued on and off with various teachers for the better part of twenty years. I will always be grateful to them for the knowledge and wisdom they imparted on me and for the positive influence they have had on my life, especially the ones with whom I really bonded and who were essentially mentors to me while I studied with them.

As a teacher, there is no better feeling than seeing a student make progress and knowing that you helped him or her along the way, while at the same time not taking the credit, as it is always the student who has the harder job, who must do the real work. I always feel tremendous satisfaction when a student masters a difficult rudimentary exercise for the first time, or is able to execute a challenging rhythm pattern on the drum set. The expression on their
faces often conveys pride over their achievement, and I can often sense a boost in their self-esteem. This is why I teach.

I began playing drums when I was around twelve years old, and played throughout grade school, high school and college, in school jazz bands and musical pit bands, as well as playing in many rock bands over the years. I began teaching drums shortly after graduating from college, eventually relocating to New York City, where I lived for 12 years and where I continued playing and teaching, as well as taking lessons on and off. I was very fortunate to study with Joe Morello - famous for his tenure with Dave Brubeck and especially on the classic recording "Take Five." I have also played on several recordings, toured throughout the Northeast and Midwest, and have performed at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, the Miami Music Festival, and have been overseas a few times for some European dates. Since moving to Orlando in late 2009, I played with a cover band, played drums and percussion in the orchestras for musical productions at community theaters, and currently play with a local Orlando rock band called the Cosmic Roots Collective.

To me, teaching drums is more than simply writing notes on a page of manuscript paper and having students practice and perform exercises. It is about connecting and showing them how expressing themselves musically can be one of the most fulfilling activities one can pursue. It is also about helping them really get in touch with their own sense of rhythm, the foundation of all music. When I take on new students, it is always my goal that I can help foster in them the same passion for and love of learning to play drums as the great teachers who taught me.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson plan will be based on the student's level and goals. If the student is a beginner, we will start off with basic hand technique, rudiments, reading, etc., before moving on to the drum set. Playing along with a metronome will also be a regular part of lessons and should be with practice as well.

At the drum set, I will give students exercises for developing coordination and independence. They will also learn to play basic beats for different music styles, e.g. rock, jazz, funk, latin, with a focus on execution, time and feel. I have a wide assortment of drum books spanning all levels from which we can work out of or use examples. I also ask my students what songs they want to learn to play on the drums so that together we can figure out the beats to them. I ultimately want them to be able to transcribe the beats to these songs themselves, as well as create their own beats.

I may also talk a little about the history of drumming and the pioneers of the instrument, and we may also listen to records and watch videos of some of the masters in action.

I also occasionally like to "jam" with my students. as I have a piano and a few guitars in my practice room and a modicum of ability on both instruments.

As far as expectations, I assume my students are taking lessons because they want to learn to play the drums. And, as with any learning endeavor, practicing is very important. That said, I won't demand they practice a certain number of hours per week, as they need to decide how much time they have or are willing to put into it, and I expect this will vary from student to student. I realize that everyone has his or her own aptitudes and situations, so we can work together to determine the appropriate pace and amount of material to cover per week. However, if it appears to me that the student has not practiced the lesson, or is not putting in the time necessary to make progress, I will politely point it out and ask how I can help.

I am laid back and very patient. I never want my students to feel pressured or anxious about coming to lessons; I always strive to create a comfortable and relaxed environment in which they can learn and have fun at the same time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
A designated music room with an electronic drum set (Roland V Drums), digital piano, and a couple of guitars and amplifiers

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring a practice pad or snare drum and sticks to the first lesson, if he or she is a beginner, although I prefer them to have these already if possible. After that, I expect the student to buy sticks, a pad and if necessary a stand to mount it, a metronome, music manuscript paper, and have a comfortable seat to sit on, if not a drum stool. If they are at the intermediate level and/or have already started on the drum set, then they need to have their own set in their home.

*** Specialties ***
Basic hand technique for beginners, eventually incorporating an extra limb, usually the bass drum first.

Rock and basic funk, jazz, and latin. Also basic musical notation. Ultimately, I would like the student to be able to transcribe the beats from some of their favorite songs, as well as write their own!

About Yamilet
Yamilet realized her love for music at the early age of 7, after singing along with children's television shows and joining her elementary school chorus. She was also a member of the Orff ensemble and in the 4th grade began learning to play the violin. Using that background knowledge, she began to teach herself piano. In the 5th grade, she switched to cello. Although she has always had an insatiable curiosity with musical instruments (playing as many notes as she can figure out on harmonica, guitar, recorder, clarinet, double bass, viola and even water-filled glasses) she has stuck with the cello for almost 15 years.

Yamilet is a Dr. Phillips High School alum, where she was accepted into their Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Program. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors in Music Performance in 2010, s
tudying with Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra members Barbara George and Laurel Stanton. She recently completed her Master of Arts degree in Music Performance. In that time, she performed with the UCF Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Laszlo Marosi, and was the principal cellist for over 5 years. She also played with the UCF Chamber Ensemble, String Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, and sang in the Women'€™s Chorus and Opera Workshop.

Locally, Yamilet has performed with the Space Coast Pops Orchestra under the direction of Richard Hayman, alongside guest artists including Carol Stein, Copeland Davis, and Valerie Pernice. She has also played alongside well-known artists/bands such as Jodi Benson, Mana', Kansas, and Classic Albums Live. Yamilet also enjoys performing and recording for local bands and artists such as Urbe Prima, The Drive to Uqbar, Ratham Stone, Stockholm, Hoyle, James Roquemore, and Edgar Junior.

*** Lesson Details ***
My job as a teacher is to help you learn everything you need to know about playing your instrument, and really perfecting your technique. I like to use the Essential Elements for Strings book because it is straight-forward and lets you move at your own pace. Once you are proficient enough with the basics, we may move on to the Suzuki Solo books and take time to be able to get each piece to a performance-ready level.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide music stands, appropriate seating, and supplemental music. I expect the students to have their own instrument and necessary accessories (rock stop, rosin, shoulder rest).

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Folk, Classic Rock, and Pop

About Melody
Hello. My name is Melody Cook. I graduated from Valencia College with an Associate of Arts degree in Piano Performance.

I began learning to play the piano when I was five. As an adult, I pursued other interests for several years, and returned to piano a few years ago. I studied Piano Performance for three years at Valencia college, and completed my degree in May, 2016, having received a GPA of 4.0 in all my classes.

As for my teaching experience, I was home schooled, so I taught some of my younger siblings reading, mathematics, and beginning piano. I have tutored children ages 5- 13 in reading and math. I worked as a daycare teacher off and on for a few years in my twenties, teaching children ages 2- 10. I taught an after school piano class in a middle school for a couple years. Since 2014, I have been teaching private piano lesso
ns to all ages.

I spent four years in Russia and helped some of my friends who were learning English as a foreign language.

While in Russia I studied the Russian language at the university for a year, and am proficient enough to teach beginning Russian.

On my profile I stated that I can teach students with special needs. I want to clarify that I do not have training or experience in this area, but I would be happy to try teaching children with special needs. It would be important to me to meet with the parents before the first class to discuss the special need and what I would need to know to be able to teach their child well.

[April, 2016]: I have a few students with ADHD and/or high functioning Autism. They are great piano students! They enjoy playing the piano and do well with it, and I love working with them!

About Mikel
Hello there! My name is Mikel Barandiaran, I'm a Spanish singer-songwriter, producer, arranger, composer and a million things more that has to do with music. But that is not important right now, you are the important individual in this conversation.

I want to tell you a bit about why I'm here:I feel music everywhere, in movement, noise, people, nature, animals, silence, etc. It would be an understatement to put music into a category of comparisson with other things for me, because is basically my natural state of appreciation towards life. But, I can say something: I just want to help the world listen to that music, that is everywhere. I want the chance to help you get into the world of music, I will teach you to learn about your own musical ability and influences. I'm not going to impose a genre, style, technique to you. I want to help
you discover your own path and we will go on your own pace. Luis Alberto Spinetta, one of my favorite musicians, once said that we are just bridges that connect the rest of the people to music. I believe that we owe ourselfs and to music, being truth to our own being and open enough to let that magic flow through us and reach the rest of the world.

We will work not only in how to play an instrument, but music itself, theory, arranging, composing, songwriting, tricks and formulas, pop, experimental and advance harmonic techniques.

See you on our first lesson, and bring some tunes you like!
