I have actively taught, performed, and studied every genre of music played by the bass guitar and upright bass. This includes jazz, blues, rock, funk, gospel, classical, and everything in-between. I am an active classical and jazz music composer/arranger that has won multiple music awards, such as 8/8 superior ratings at solo and ensemble, including 2 at the state level. I am only 17 years old, and currently in high school, but my qualifications and passion for music, as well as my rate will make this a great musical experience.

About Maverick

My daughter Kimona is 13 years old and before being introduced to the piano by Martina has never truly found something to be passionate about. I have seen my amazing young daughter flourish through notes of music and express her creativity through learning to play the piano. Initially as a mom I did not think at this age that my daughter would grasp the concepts and enjoy learning music however, through working with Martina weekly Kimona has flourished. I thank you Martina for opening our eyes that we all have the ability to learn and enjoy such a beautiful art.
Jasmine
My daughter and I have both experienced so much growth while beginning Piano lessons with Martina. My daughter is 5 and she leaves class with a song in mind. While driving in the car she is using her fingers and identifying keys as if she is on the piano. I can’t thank you enough Martina for this wonderful learning journey. Your patience and willingness to go above and beyond for both of us has been astounding. I have to say we both look forward to the challenges and fun you have ahead for us weekly.

My daughter has done very well, she has learned so much in just 2 lessons. Martina you're an awesome instructor. Thank you

I teach beginning and intermediate Bass Guitar. The bass guitar is tuned the same as the four bottom strings of the guitar only one octave below. The fingering is the same as the guitar. I've played bass guitar in rock and pop bands and in country bands. Playing bass is a fun experience.

I believe in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere between teacher and student that promotes the optimal mindset for the student to progress, and to believe in themself.

Technique-wise, there will be lots of work on intonation, tone production, and accuracy of rhythms!

Musically, I like to ask the student for their own ideas, and offer my input afterwards. Music is an expressive art, and the teacher's job is to help the student best express themselves.

I tend to let students play everything that they have practiced for me before making comments. Using my tablet, I notate all ideas and corrections on a pdf version of your music, and email the pdf to you after the lesson.

About Josiah

I am currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Oklahoma, where I am on fellowship as a violinist in the resident graduate string quartet, the Crouse Quartet. I began to play the violin as a 4 year old in Eastern North Carolina. I began with Suzuki and after college began playing an electric violin for a local band. I love music...it releases a form of expression from the inner soul.

About Kelly

Hi there! My name is Kelly. I have been playing violin since I was 4. I have always enjoyed playing the violin especially when I was able to express it though playing in a local church. I learned to hear the music and feel the emotion that a violin player can receive. I’m excited to teach you t

Marcelle is a wonderful teacher. She always makes you feel comfortable, listens to your concerns, and gives great tips/ways into establishing a good technique. I had lessons with her over the summer, and in that little time I felt like I'd grown a lot. That fall, I auditioned for a show at my university that made me sing in a style I've never been comfortable with. It was a really strenuous process and nearly all of the singers strained their voices. My voice adapted because I had a great foundation.

"Awesome Teacher!

I've been playing since I was 6. As a teacher myself, however, I often devoted more time to my students' practice than to my own. My goal in taking lessons with Eric was to get back the technique, fluidity and creativity that I used to have.

In the first month alone, my fluidity was back and my technique was well on the way to being what it once was.

He reminded me of practice routines that I'd long forgotten and drills that I would have my students do that I had since stopped doing.

His knowledge of the fretboard and theory is amazing and his ability to relate that knowledge even more so.

Definitely worth it!"

"Daniel is a natural teacher and inspires his students to share his love for music. He has a lot of experience and is patient with learners of all abilities. I have had 3 lessons with him so far and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I am new to singing but learned piano when I was younger so I am not entirely new to music. He has helped me expand my horizons and believe in what I can do with my voice. During class, we cover music theory as well as the actual singing part. Progress will go faster if you study the theory on your own (he provides you with all the materials you need to learn) and come prepared."

Is it Unethical to Have a Piano with Ivory Keys?

The piano is, by nature, unethical, discuss. For students in music programs or conservatories, this is a common essay prompt you'll come across.
